It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our restaurant and home for repairs and renovations needed after a water pipe burst above the restaurant during last weekend’s freezing temperatures. We learned this morning that the damage extends beyond what we originally thought and were informed this morning that we must close ASAP to begin repairs. All upcoming reservations will be cancelled and online reservations will be closed indefinitely until we know when we’ll be able to open again. When I started Musang, I knew that this wasn’t going to be easy and a part of me loves the challenges that come with this crazy life. For those of you that know - you know. We can’t control the way things happen, but we can do our best to control our reactions to what comes our way. We made it through opening in 2020 and all of the things that ensued the past couple of years. And we will continue to share our culture, food, stories in all the ways we can. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes, as we all have been looking forward to serving you and your loved ones - we also understand that many of you have been waiting weeks to dine with us and are sorry to say it will be a few weeks longer before we are able to share our hospitality with you. We ask that you take this opportunity to go visit @kiligseattle and to support all the small businesses that we love. You might have heard about this character from a recent @nbcsnl skit, but for those of us who grew up in Latin America, it's a big part of our childhood. If you go for brunch, don't skip the chilaquiles torta. If you thought chilaquiles couldn't be topped, just go and try this. We got the pink pancakes for my kid 🥞, but they were also a favorite of mine. That strawberry cream on top tastes like danonino de fresa 🍓 (strawberry petit suisse). If you order from the lunch menu, dont skip the torta ahogada. I crave this from time to time and they're hard to find, especially a good one. But you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My kids devoured those short ribs. The huevos rancheros were also delicious 🍳 (they have fried corn tortillas underneath). I asked for two different salsas instead of one, so that I could try more. Another hot pot spot has opened in Seattle’s Chinatown/International District! @crazy_monk_seattle has individual hot pot which is perfect for the days you don’t want to share. I really enjoyed their unique broths—the spicy tomato (mild) was rich and flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the qiaojiao beef broth was herbal and peppery. Broths start at $7.50 each with an option to add unlimited offal (which I learned was innards), and I think I’d try that next time to make the broths even more hearty. Sauce bar is also a must, so the price does start to add up, but that’s pretty standard these days. Huge selection of wagyu meats, veggies, tofu and more. Also loved the wagyu fried rice.   3. Banana Pudding Matcha Latte, Mango Matcha Latte, & Flan 📍 Phê x Phin Pop Up 🍵 ⁣ ⁣ Phê had a pop up this past weekend at Phin in Seattle. They were featuring some of their signature drinks and items that will be on their menu once their Capitol Hill location is open! Their banana pudding matcha latte was so creamy and tasty. The mango matcha latte was delicious, sweet, and fruity. I’ve never had flan in coffee before but that was a nice treat with the coconut cream on top. I’m really excited to visit their location once they open, and who knows, they may even do another pop up before that. Meet Terrell Jackson, also known as @catfishjackk , he’s a Seattleite You Should Know ❤️ His business is Jackson’s Catfish Corner in Seattle’s Central District. @jacksonscatfishcorner was started in 1985 by his grandparents. But after the original closed down in 2014, Terrell’s goal became reviving his family’s legacy. Terrell is full of love, and his smile is brighter than his signature chain, a piece he credits to the late D’Vonne PIckett Jr. When I asked about his business he said “I want people to come in as customers, and leave as family.” The iced tea here is next level, and if you want to try a lot of their food, the go to item is the Captain’s Platter. It’s enough for two people. It has Catfish, prawns, hushpuppies and fries. And don’t forget a side of greens. I got to check out their new location last weekend and this location is much bigger then the Seattle one! I stand by this and stay that Kobuta & Ookami is the best katsu in Seattle.
