  2. Hey everyone - Ate Mel here... It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our restaurant and home for repairs and renovations needed after a water pipe burst above the restaurant during last weekend’s freezing temperatures. We learned this morning that the damage extends beyond what we originally thought and were informed this morning that we must close ASAP to begin repairs. All upcoming reservations will be cancelled and online reservations will be closed indefinitely until we know when we’ll be able to open again. When I started Musang, I knew that this wasn’t going to be easy and a part of me loves the challenges that come with this crazy life. For those of you that know - you know. We can’t control the way things happen, but we can do our best to control our reactions to what comes our way. We made it through opening in 2020 and all of the things that ensued the past couple of years. And we will continue to share our culture, food, stories in all the ways we can. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes, as we all have been looking forward to serving you and your loved ones - we also understand that many of you have been waiting weeks to dine with us and are sorry to say it will be a few weeks longer before we are able to share our hospitality with you. We ask that you take this opportunity to go visit @kiligseattle and to support all the small businesses that we love. And keep an eye out for some secret pop ups and events happening next door at @wildcatscatering 🙂 We look forward to sharing the Musang experience with you all soon. 🥹❤️

  1. While the then and now comparison can go towards ego, it can also serve as a source of inspiration. And out here on IG, it's far easier to see the external changes. I used to work in tech and was living a very sedentary life. Great family. Well paying job. But I had very low self-esteem. I thought I was smart but I didn't think it was as useful, especially as I only liked my work in spurts. I hated my body. It is really hard for me to find a picture of myself before I started working out at the age of 36. I was a photographer for a lot of my friends' events. But I would be really shy stepping in front of the cam. After we had our 2nd kid, I realized I was a 36 year old dad to a newborn. I would occasionally see people face a lot of health issues in their 40s. I decided I needed to do something about it. I had no intention of quitting tech. Just to work out to get healthier. But I started to realize how I started feeling better about myself as I started working out. I started to love my body. That self esteem hit a new high once I started doing yoga. I was starting to feel more and more confident about myself. Not just physically but mentally as well. I also started to understand that I didn't have to do a certain job just because my family thought I was smart. It was a choice I had. So I followed the path of quitting on the money to take on teaching yoga. The self-confidence and the yoga philosophy gradually brought me into a space of feeling like I could walk into any space and feel like I belonged. It was a stark contrast to where the only place I felt I belonged was my own home. While this career I chose will never give me the same amount of money I was earning in tech, I feel it has given me a much more satisfying life. I love sharing what I have learned on this journey. I love who I am. Body and mind. 🙏🏽

  2. Here's a pic of what I look like these days. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not always upside down 😁 How's life? Couldn't be better! I am teaching across 6 studios in the Seattle metro area. About 15-20 classes a week. Some questions I hear regularly Do I get tired teaching so much? I don't. I absolutely love every moment of leading a class. There are days I teach 4, occasionally it has become even 5. I feel as energized teaching the last as I did the first. But of course, I am not saying you should. Or "this is the way". This is just me. I do get tired at the end of the day once I sit on the couch 😅 Do I get time to practice/take classes? My self-practice is usually shorter- like 10-30 minutes. More to play with certain poses or transitions. Or some yin poses a couple times a week. But I do take at least 4-5 classes a week. How do I do that? Well, I don't wait to find the "right" class. I take them when I am out already, or I go out and take 2. There is always something to learn, whether from brand new teachers or my favorite ones. Moving makes me feel alive. It gets me present. Do I miss the tech world? I don't. I love doing what I do. Yoga changed how I lived my life. It changed how much I love myself. I teach to share that feeling. Don't I have bad days? I have bad moments, yes. I just choose to let them go. And it is a practice. A practice I have gotten better at with time. We tend to hang on to bad moments. They become bad days or weeks. More often than not, we have a choice. A choice to let go. Get present. Feel our aliveness. Celebrate our aliveness. And no, it's been a while since I had a bad day. Watch this space- I plan to share more regularly in the next few. 🤗🙏🏽 How are you doing? What more would you like to know? You can find my schedule, retreat and training at www.ashish.yoga

  3. @ghostnotecoffee has been on my radar for a while so I had to stop to catch their winter menu! Their drinks are thoughtfully prepared and the flavor combinations feel adventurous. All the drinks I tried truly shined and the star for me was the Lush Life. Based on a Bostock pastry, the flavors work perfectly together and the almond milk isn’t overpowering at all. The Naima is a seasonal cookie butter latte with a housemade Biscoff crumble that adds just the right amount of salt to the drink, it’s a delicious cup to sip on when you want something full of warmth. Another great cold weather companion is the Oatnog, with or without espresso. It has all the flavors and coziness of eggnog without the heaviness. Espresso sodas are so refreshing and you can pick from different flavors at Ghost Note - I decided on lemon and loved the end result. I want to try cucumber next! Finally, my caffeine level was at a high but I wanted to try the Sun Ship! The coconut water and lime immediately made me wish for summer but enduring the winter with a glass of Sun Ship is pretty nice too. Ghost Note offers some of the most creative coffee beverages I’ve come across and it was so fun branching out to try some new drinks. Their winter menu will be around for a bit longer and then switch to spring/summer with a different set of imaginative drinks! ☕️ • • • • • #coffee #cookiebutter #foodiegram #icedcoffee #igers_seattle #pnw #seattle #seattlefoodie #ghostnotecoffee #supportlocal #supportsmall #paidpartnership
