  2. Hi friends. On March 27, three men with high-powered rifles approached the vehicle my friend and I were in and shot at us 21 times. 7 of those bullets struck me, nearly killing me. To save our lives, my friend attempted to flee which lead to us being involved in a car accident immediately after. I am concussed and my arm is broken. I have several bullet fragments throughout my body, and stitches and staples in my head. I have a long road to recovery ahead of me, during which time I will be unable to work.   3. 34: GOD RESTORES…🫶🏽 last year was #33andFREE but baybeeeee it started off with months tearssssss, literally starting the day before my birthday. it was my year of CHANGE & TRANSFORMATION and even GOOD change is hard 😮‍💨 the process of shedding parts of yourself isn’t easy. getting out of dysfunctional patterns & mindsets? confronting fears? challenging yourself? being completely honest with yourself after the challenges & confrontation? yeahhh, i’ve done it all & i think GOD IS PLEASED and I HAVE PASSED THE TEST! now here we are, YEAR 34 & i know GOD IS ABOUT TO RESTORE & FILL ME AND MY LIFE WITH ALL GOOD THINGS…10 FOLD! this past year has been a true testament to the 23rd psalm. i’ve been lead, cared for, provided for, shielded, comforted & given peace! oh & the table has been prepared! what’s left of HIS PROMISE?   1. I finally got my hands on an @leveebakingco OG QUEEN cake! Truly a work of art, I was inspired just when I first opened the box. The light, delicate, flaky pastry is beautifully put together and lives up to the high pastry standard they’ve created for themselves. The pecan and citrus filling brings a light sweetness. It has such strong aromas through the spices and herbs, I honestly couldn’t tell you exactly what the mix is, but it’s rustic and earthy and if English countryside was a flavor, it would be this. Refined and thoughtful, I highly recommend if you’re looking for an alternative to the icing sugar overloads of the brioche style king cakes.

  2. Had a Friday off and headed to @bearcatnola hoping to sneak in with no wait. Unfortunately there was still a 20 min wait even on Friday which speaks to their excellence! Tried something new today, brisket mash with an egg in the hole. This was my first egg in the hole experience and wow I really enjoyed it. The surrounding toast was flavorful, drawing from a strong multigrain flour, this tasted like it was freshly ground and formed just before becoming my toast. The egg nestles inside the toast creating almost a poached texture. Brisket is always a way to elevate your breakfast meats and it certainly works here. From a place that always brings the flavor, the brisket did not disappoint. Well seasoned, chopped up then almost recooked in a vacas fritas style, an excellent accompaniment to delicious eggs and toast. Bearcat’s crispy potatoes are exactly what I look for. Perfectly crispy and soft on the inside once you crunch through on your first bite. Excellently seasoned to add bold spiciness. I love when you get a smaller piece that is a little well done and all crisp. It really can’t be done better. Was feeling hungry so a side of blueberry pancakes made an appearance. Fluffy and soft, they practically melt in your mouth. A nice crunch on a few of the thin edges is always fun. Delicate sweetness, paired with a syrup that I think was fruit based, it complimented the pancakes well and was sweet and fresh. Always an amazing experience at @bearcatnola, everything was packed with flavor and cooked superbly! Always worth the wait!

  3. Have you been to the appetite repair shop? I headed over there Saturday evening checking out the bonfire fest on Algiers Point. The bbq shrimp I got was definitely the highlight of the evening. It’s an intimate operation and his menu is changing a lot, but hopefully the bbq shrimp will stick around for you to get a chance to try . When you walk in you’ll be welcomed by a myriad of delicious smells. This bbq shrimp had all that perfect spice and warmth, the only thing that would’ve made it better is if the night was a little cooler out. It was served up with warm gooey pull apart Brie bread that was perfect for soaking up all the juices. The shrimp were huge and well cooked, I felt like I was eating lobster more than a shrimp. Definitely go check @appetite_repair out next time your in Algiers Point!
