  3. Meal comped by @rainierrestaurant The first time I visited Rainier Restaurant many years ago, I was blown away by my experience, with the catfish and the beef ong choy salad being my favorites. My last few visits weren’t bad but they weren’t as good as the first, so I was so excited when I heard that Rainier Restaurant is now under new ownership!🤩 Ownership has changed a few times, and what I’m excited about is that the current owners are working with the original owners to bring back the recipes we knew and loved 🙏 The catfish ($20 per pound) is cooked perfectly with skin so crispy, I almost forgot I was eating fish 😂 It seriously looked like lechon skin to me! The ongchoy salad is one of the best salads I’ve ever had, and always a must for me!   2. These are totally normal, right? One of the things that surprised me the most about hiking alone was realizing how many things I thought were “just me” were actually completely normal. Things like: * Talking to myself on trail * Checking my map…again and again…and again! * Feeling nervous at the trailhead, even when I knew the trail * Second-guessing my plans halfway through my hike * Feeling confident one minute and then unsure the next I used to think these moments meant I was cut out for hiking alone or that I was doing it wrong. But over time, I realized that they were all just part of the experience. Not signs that I was doing something wrong, but signs that I was learning, growing and paying attention. It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our restaurant and home for repairs and renovations needed after a water pipe burst above the restaurant during last weekend’s freezing temperatures. We learned this morning that the damage extends beyond what we originally thought and were informed this morning that we must close ASAP to begin repairs. All upcoming reservations will be cancelled and online reservations will be closed indefinitely until we know when we’ll be able to open again. When I started Musang, I knew that this wasn’t going to be easy and a part of me loves the challenges that come with this crazy life. For those of you that know - you know. We can’t control the way things happen, but we can do our best to control our reactions to what comes our way. We made it through opening in 2020 and all of the things that ensued the past couple of years. And we will continue to share our culture, food, stories in all the ways we can. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes, as we all have been looking forward to serving you and your loved ones - we also understand that many of you have been waiting weeks to dine with us and are sorry to say it will be a few weeks longer before we are able to share our hospitality with you. We ask that you take this opportunity to go visit @kiligseattle and to support all the small businesses that we love.   2. 👋🏻 I have been tragically locked out of this account but we back baby! ✨And of course back with Mexican food & a view. 📍 Grab Malena’s Taco Shop in upper Queen Anne and take it to one of the most underrated view points in all of Seattle at 5th & Lynn st. 🌃 🌮 I have to say, their fried shrimp tacos are good, but my boyfriend got their chili relleno burrito 🌯🌯 (which I wish I got a photo of) and that was AMAZING and I’m pretty sure I ate 90% of it 😂 so if you go, i’d def recommend that! (I usually get their bean & cheese burrito but they were out of refried beans so I switched it up with the taco which was still really tasty) ✨🌮

We escaped to Suncadia for NYE and it was the most perfect winter wonderland! ❄️ We stayed at the @swiftwater_residences — a collection of new town homes (4 bedrooms) walkable from @swiftwatercellars_suncadia, a shared clubhouse with heated pool & hot tub, and right in the heart of Suncadia. If you haven’t visited yet, go go go! The whole weekend, I was so amazed at this gorgeous view— we even got to go sledding on the rope rider golf course right outside our home. Can’t wait to visit again in the sun ☀️ and enjoy all this area has to offer!

  3. Unexpected Snow Day There are snowballs in our freezer made by little hands. "So We can remember this day after it melts" Finn tells me. Now I see them every time I pull out peas or vanilla ice cream. Little hard balls of ice with pieces of grass and gravel poking through. I think how I should put a sign on them... 'do not touch'. I worry someone might mistakenly take them out in a moment of organization or trying to help. They won't know that sometimes I stand in front of the open freezer door with hot tears on my cheeks. That everyday my children get taller and that Tate no longer fits in my lap. That sometimes I panic that I don't have a big enough freezer to hold all of the snowballs they hand me. It’s all around a great place to stop and eat or if you are in a rush take them to go.   3. If you're looking for good food and good vibes in Tacoma, keep La Vecindad in mind. They offer delicious Mexican food in a magical setting: the place where El Chavo del Ocho lived. You might have heard about this character from a recent @nbcsnl skit, but for those of us who grew up in Latin America, it's a big part of our childhood. If you go for brunch, don't skip the chilaquiles torta. If you thought chilaquiles couldn't be topped, just go and try this. We got the pink pancakes for my kid 🥞, but they were also a favorite of mine. That strawberry cream on top tastes like danonino de fresa 🍓 (strawberry petit suisse). If you order from the lunch menu, dont skip the torta ahogada. I crave this from time to time and they're hard to find, especially a good one. But you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They were featuring some of their signature drinks and items that will be on their menu once their Capitol Hill location is open! Their banana pudding matcha latte was so creamy and tasty.
