The concept of Mowgli is authentic Indian street food built on Nisha’s family traditions and the way Indians eat their food. The meals are served in tiffin boxes - silver dishes stacked with rice, curries, lentils and breads. All of the Mowgli locations have a stunning forest treehouse appeal with gorgeous warm twinkling lights, swing chairs and trees growing right out of the tables!   2. ☝🏽Category is | EPIC EDINBURGH SMASHBURGERS 🍔 ad | Word on the street is that you can find some of the BEST burgers at @heyshakedown in Corstorphine. 🐝 This is a recently opened franchise which hails from Manchester and is the company’s first base in Scotland. The menu features tempting big juicy beef patties sandwiched between fluffy toasted brioche. 🌶️ Also on the menu are some loaded fries with lashings of fresh toppings. But beware, they are spiiiicy! Other sides include mozzarella sticks, hash browns and onion rings! 🥛 Of course, you would expect milkshakes to be on offer at Shakedown and you would not be wrong! They serve super thick and super creamy blended milkshakes with interesting flavours like the “Manchester Bee” with honeycomb pieces and caramel syrup. 🧇 If you’re not a big milkshake fan then the freshly made waffles will maybe tempt you. These are absolute BEASTS and come with soft serve vanilla ice-cream and a healthy amount of toppings. I tried the Roadblock which was absolutely smothered in white chocolate, smarties and white kinder bueno! 💰 If you’re trying Shakedown with kids, then you can get a single patty burger or 2 chicken tenders with fries and a drink for £6.75. For adults a combo is a bit more expensive and can cost up to £19.50 (for their most expensive burger which includes a milkshake). Whilst this is pricier, I found this easily comparable to most of their competitors. 👍🏻 Please note that the restaurant is totally HALAL Not only did I really enjoy my experience and the food I had at Shakedown, I also have to shout out to the very friendly and helpful staff who really had a passion for customer service and keeping the restaurant clean. I would absolutely return here and totally get the hype. Everyone wave hello to HAMISH! 🐮 Adorned with his very own Scottish regalia of Kilt and Sporran, the Hamish “pang” is a fusion of cultures between Scotland and South Korea. Pang is a popular dessert item in Korea and is a pastry traditionally shaped into a fish character (similar to Japanese tayaki) Hamish comes in three flavours to try; custard, red bean and Nutella. I tried the custard and it was beautiful - not too runny and reminded me of a delicious custard tart. It was excellent value at £3.50 or you can try two for £6. Everything is made completely fresh so it’s nice and warm! You can trach Hamish, as well as an array of other delicious Korean food, at @seoul_nibbles on Edinburgh’s Grassmarket.   2. SO... I’m going to be on TELLY! 📺 At the beginning of last year I went down to London to film for a show called Beat the Chef for Channel 4. They have many vegetarian options and can easily veganise most of them.🌱 Their mocktail menu had amazing flavours like pine, cucumber, and ginger. We wanted to try them all, but in the end, Ellie chose Apple & Fennel, and Ernesta went for Rhubarb & Custard. They were absolutely delicious! We loved the fact that they were using leftover parts of fennel and rhubarb to create them, so there wouldn’t be any waste.♻️ Now, onto the food… We had: 🥒 Pickle plate; olives, pickles, pickle butter, sourdough 🫓 Hummus with fennel, radish, and chimichurri 🥔 Sweet potato with miso, lime, spring onion, coriander, coconut, and yoghurt 🍅 Tomato salad with cucumber, ponzu, and nori And of course, some desserts: 🍫 70% chocolate ganache with banana and muscovado 🥛 Melktart with pickled rhubarb Each dish was made in front of us. Can’t believe I didn’t come here sooner! ☕️🍜 🥢 @singaporecoffeehouse 📍 Canonmills, Edinburgh This cosy little corner cafe only has four tables, so expect a queue if you’re heading there at peak times - especially on weekends. We went on Sunday around 2pm and just about grabbed the last table (lunch finishes at 3). The whole place feels like a proper hidden gem. Everything they do is inspired by the organised chaos of Singapore’s food culture - a mix of Chinese, Indian, Malay, Indonesian, and even British influences. We started with drinks, and they make them the traditional kopitiam way - no machines, just pure skill from their baristas. ☕ Kopi – Classic Singaporean coffee, brewed strong and mixed with condensed milk. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. 🫖 Teh Halia – A ginger infused chai, pulled to perfection with condensed and evaporated milk. Sweet, warming, and full of flavour. For food, we wanted something hearty and comforting, so we went for: 🥜 Satay Bee Hoon – Thin rice noodles drenched in rich peanut satay sauce, topped with fried tofu, egg, beansprouts, cucumber, and crispy crackers. We added king prawns, and it was beyond worth it. Proper saucy, full of flavour, and ridiculously satisfying. 🍜 Char Siu Wanton Noodles – Inspired by a Michelin starred hawker stall in Singapore, and honestly, it tasted like it. Egg noodles with sticky roasted char siu pork belly, soft pork wantons, a fried egg, and loads of extras like pickles, crushed peanuts, dark soy, sesame, and chilli sauce. The pork belly was insanely tender, the soy gave it that deep, salty hit, and the pickles balanced everything out. The wantons were easily some of the best I’ve had. What I loved most is how authentic the whole experience felt. It’s the kind of spot you visit once and immediately start planning your next visit. Already craving it again and will definitely need to try more of their menu! This specific version of Pork Belly took a good two months or so to figure out due to lack of time and procrastination or both! But what we ended up with was the most luxurious melt in your mouth Smoked Pork Belly that even silenced the greatest of haters! 😅 It took a total of 4 days to get it to the point of perfection... Salt Cured - 6 hours Cold Smoked - 12 hours (of extreme difficulty due to space and oven usage etc) Sous Vide - 12 hours Pressed - 48 hours But out with the old and in with the new! Pulled gochujang beef and kimchi mac and cheese✨ Honestly my idea of heaven; Asian fusion mac and cheese 👏🏼 I took inspiration from a @makeitscotch I found on their website and with my own little tweaks made this beauty!✨ Also nearly 50g protein for one serving! Hellooo😮‍💨 Ingredients: 400g lean diced beef 500ml stock 3tbsp gochujang paste 1 heaped tsp Dijon mustard 1 heaped tsp grated ginger (For 4 portions of beef) 25g butter 25g flour 300ml semi skimmed milk 60g cheddar cheese 1tbsp gochujang paste 70g kimchi 180g pasta (For 2 portions of pasta) Let me know if you try it yourself!🫶🏻

Matthew & I are taking on an amazing opportunity where we can combine our hospo passions and run our own wee restaurant - very excited with all the good kinda nerves 🥳🥂 I had my last shift at @chorritosauce at the weekend firing out a hefty amount of tasty tacos! It's been a blast working with Dan & Dawn and seeing their gem of a Cantina grow & grow 🤩! Thanks to these guys for teaching me the perfect balance of chilli spice, expanding my little knowledge of Mexican cuisine & making some of the BEST TACOS IN TOWN! Excited to see where this year takes Chorrito - I have no doubt it's gonna be a HOT year 💛🌶!! I've also said a very heartfelt bye to Meal Prep! It's where it all started 🥲! Back in the 9-5 days, when I made lunches for my office colleagues... Fast forward a few years, I've grown my wee business expanding to all things private catering! I couldn't have done it without all my loyal customers & I can't put in to words how grateful I am to do something I love and call it work 🥰! I'll miss feeding my meal preppers with weekly changing menus of yumminess & my Sunday delivery route with Pinot 🚘 I have a few retreats I'm committed to over the summer but my private catering books are now closed until November (although already starting to fill up 🙈) whilst I'm busy throwing myself into a new venture!   3. The world's your oyster 🦪... Don't let this past year make you forget it!! Just me, embracing this VERY happy moment of hospitality reopening💃🏽🥳🙌🏽 . . Spent my afternoon @theraeburnhotel beer garden toasting my first dine out of 2021 (with an espresso martini of course 😏)!! Yes I went all out and ordered oysters, mussels and chunky chips 🤷🏽‍♀️! The guys are fully prepped to serve us in all weather's with their new canopy and beer garden heaters 👏🏽... of course the weather was forecast to take a turn just as restrictions ease - gid auld Scotland but rain won't stop us 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Support local guys but remember, wear a mask, stick to the rules AND PLEASE BE KIND AND PATIENT!!
