Now I get it - see the falls, do the touristy stuff by the falls but literally just go for a short drive/walk to eat. Here’s two spots that locals swear by in the area, right beside each other! @countryfreshdonuts 5076 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls. Chinese-owned donut shop with everything from wonton soup to omelettes to of course, donuts. The entire menu is under $10. The real highlight here are the donuts, old school, well sized, huge variety and just $1-2 each. Everything we tried from the braided sugar donut to the apple fritter was awesome. Niko’s Place at 5125 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls. A little window at the back of a parking lot. Cash only, Habs fans stay clear it’s a Leafs fan zone lol. The haddock and chips is very good and I was ecstatic they had the giant spray bottle of malt vinegar. I suggest upgrading to the poutine, quality across the fries, gravy and curds. My ideal meal? Niko’s haddock + poutine, end with Country Fresh donuts. Let me know what other spots are worth trying around the Falls area! PS. we met the sweetest old man on the GO train this day and took him for lunch at Country Fresh. Details on how to get one, sells out FAST ⬇️ @tt_supermarket has changed the grocery store chicken game - I’ve only ever seen rotisserie chicken on offer before! Their new Papa Crispy Chicken is a $12 whole fried chicken available at ALL locations across Canada. I don’t think there’s more affordable fried chicken anywhere else in the city. It’s bathed in a garlicky marinade and comes with a spice mix to sprinkle on top for extra flavour. Shockingly crisp and juicy because they make these in batches and it sells out FAST, so it’s almost like it’s made to order. Here’s my tips for grabbing this elusive item: - If you can, visit your nearest T&T during off-times - As soon you as you get in, go to the prepared food T&T kitchen area and check. Toronto/GTA cheap eats Ep. 4! Details ⬇️ I am sharing a new cheap eats spot every week, so make sure to hit follow if you want to see more. My only criteria when picking spots are 1) you can eat a filling meal under $15 pre-tax and pre-tip 2) the food is genuinely delicious. This spot is @bhkroll, located underground in College Park at 444 Yonge St in downtown Toronto. Go to the intersection of Yonge/College, at the Southwest corner by the Tim Hortons you will see a TTC entrance. Go through the doors, take the escalator downstairs and once you turn right, the food court where BHK Roll is located will be right in front of you. Below is everything we ordered that I recommend trying: - $7 paneer tikka potato cheese roll. My favourite. Vegetarian. Breakfast item, not available at all times. - $9 Bombay club sandwich + masala chai combo. $7.50 for the sandwich alone. Vegetarian. - $11 Chicken kathi roll. Meat is halal! - $11 Ghugni, the regional vegetarian stew. Served with paratha. I paid for what we ordered but chef kindly offered this to try. It’s Indian mom & dad approved. They say they would happily come here from Mississauga - VERY rare, usually it’s the other way around for Indian food! 2011-2024 13 years… was a fresh faced 20-something when I moved in. I had recently landed my dream job at CP24 and was ready to take the city by storm. Too many memories and pictures to fit in one post, so l’ll just share my Fresh Prince-esque goodbye, and favourite memory from Club35: bringing home Coffee for the first time as an 8 week old puppy. This one restaurant is equivalent to that one guy in a project that does 99% of the work @ Dragon Centre Dragon Centre is North America's first Chinese shopping mall. Opened in 1984 in Scarborough, it has served an entire generation of the Chinese-Canadian community in Toronto. I'm just happy I'm able to witness greatness and come here for nostalgia from time to time. FRIED CHICKEN!! Hot and honey + lemon pepper This was a collab of epic proportions!! Finally got the chance to cook with my brother @theheartbreakchef and the results did not disappoint. His award winning fried chicken is known throughout the city to be some of the best you can get anywhere and after watching this video you’ll understand why. Also shout out @merrysomers for the amazing fermented hot sauce used in this recipe. Recipe, 4 boneless chicken thighs 500ml buttermilk 20ml hot sauce 2 cup all purpose flour 1 tablespoon salt 2 tablespoons garlic powder 2 tablespoons onion powder 2 tablespoons paprika 2 teaspoons black pepper Pour you buttermilk over your chicken thighs with the hot sauce. Throughly mix and set aside in fridge for a couple hours to marinate. In a medium bowl mix all of your dry ingredients together to form the dredge for the chicken. When ready remove from buttermilk and throughly coat in the flour, don’t be shy. Shake off any excess flour and fry at 325 degrees for about 5 minutes per side depending on how large you thighs are. Lemon pepper; Mix together, 2 tablespoons coarse salt, dried lemon peel - 5 lemons worth, 1/2 cup ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder For the lemon peel set your oven to its lowest setting. Peel five lemons zest only and put them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Bake them very slowly until dried out completely. Blend in spice grinder. Julian serves up delicious Jamaican street food in addition to mouthwatering fusion items like their viral Oxtail Burger and their Oxtail Rosé Pasta. You can find them at the station Thursday-Sunday (hours vary and the menu changes daily so check their stories each morning). 📍: @theheartbreakchef - Chef Jerome serves up absolutely delicious comfort food. I have to agree with the many who say that this spot has some of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city. Located in Kensington Market, this spot serves delicious big bites like the Big Ass Chicken Sandwich (yes it’s massive) and their Mac and Charlie with chicken. This spot also made me fall in love with brussel sprouts (when they’re glazed with honey and balsamic glaze lol!). Who else can relate to this? No seriously, prior to my children starting school and daycare I use to think school/ drop offs and pick up were glamorous and fun. In reality they stress me out! No matter how much I plan we seem to be forgetting something. The meltdowns, arguing about what clothes to wear. The struggle of getting them dressed. What to have for school lunch/snack the morning of. Finding their shoes and backpack, getting into the car oh and of course running late. I can go on and on.😭 I am also not a morning person so the struggle for me is real. You can find me in a mismatching outfit, shoes and a bonnet on my head every morning. At this point this is my school drop off uniform ✌🏿 Counting down the days for a chauffeur or for when Jeremiah and Zachariah are old enough to take the bus or walk themselves to school.
