  3. Humblebrag warning, but look, I’m not going to tiptoe around the fact that the annual guild of beer writers awards have been a contentious thing for me over the past few years. I’ve been entering since 2013, but for reasons some of you will know, until this week I haven’t attended the event since 2019. I care about my work deeply. Perhaps, on occasion, a little too deeply. It took a lot of hard work, several apologies, and the support of some incredible friends and peers to get me there on the night. But the main reason I wanted to be there was to cheer on all the wonderful, talented contributors we get to work with at @pelliclemag. I’m glad I did, because we smashed it. We took home prizes for 11 of our published works and that is all down to the hard work our contributors put into every single detail. I am also chuffed that my book, Manchester’s Best Beer Pubs and Bars, snatched silver in two categories. Which is the best I’ve ever done at these awards, and adding to its Best Book win at the North American guild of beer writers awards last month. It’s still a weird, stones in the stomach tough night for me, but I’m glad I’m in a better place than I have been in the past, and I intend to continue working on myself, and continuing to invest in writing and publishing the work that means so much to me. Cheers everyone, and congrats to all of the winners. In particular I’d like to congratulate @braciatrix for winning best book, @amethyst_heels for winning beer writer of the year, and every single Pellicle contributor we’ve worked with this year. You’re amazing.
