  3. Will I ever get bored of squishy garter triangles? Unlikely. There really is something so special about knitting these little colourful moments of joy. So satisfying and calming, I will truly never get sick of them. If you have enjoyed the Sweet Shop Blanket then the Stella Collection is a step up, still the same satisfaction but slightly more challenging. The cushion is designed for Aran and DK with 2 motifs and closure options, perfect for scrap and advent knitting. The blanket will be DK (though easily modified for other weights) and designed in a ‘choose your own adventure’ style with seamed and modular instructions. When the 1940s meets Victorian…with a touch of 1930s drama By special request I’ve created this jacket with cables, a peplum, and the specific sleeves from the 1930s pattern for “Annie’s Jacket” in my book … the ones that stand up with a life of their own ! I drew a on 4 different vintage patterns to create the jacket and hand knitted in a modern 4 ply.   1. This is probably the most ironic reel ever because this top has been on my needles since March 🙈. It was originally meant to be a stash busting project to use up the yarn I had leftover from some little shirts I had made. I was going to make a two tone T shirt but as the summer progressed so did the sleeve length and it turned into a little jumper. It’s knit on 3mm needles in Organic Cotton by @kreadeluxe and is so soft and light. It’s the perfect between seasons jumper and the washable cotton means it’s my favour because I can just throw it in the machine and little’s favourite because there is zero chance of itching or loose fibres.   2. This was definitely the most intricate item I have ever knit! When I saw the cable combination in my Japanese Stitch Dictionary I knew I had to incorporate it into a jumper design and when Hobbii Yarns reached out to offer me the yarn I just knew the time was right and I had to go for it. At times when doing the calculations and the grading I thought my brain would explode even though the actual knitting was pretty easy and way more meditative than I thought. All the crossed stitches, cables and knit/purl combination are give the most beautiful texture whilst actually being very beginner friendly. Now I just have to take my spreadsheets full of calculations and write the pattern which is always the hardest and least enjoyable part of the process for me. I’m going to take my time over it though, it’s too hot to wear a wool/mohair combination now so I’m aiming to have it finished for September. It’s the perfect jumper to throw on over jeans or leggings on cool autumn days and I have a beige version planned as my late summer egostrikk to test the written pattern.   3. Guys, I did something for the first time ever yesterday… I made a spontaneous reel! 😱😂 I suffer from HUGE imposter syndrome and get horrible anxiety making and posting reels as I always feel that they’re not really good enough. So I plan them and edit and then edit some more and then sit on them for sometimes weeks, before posting. But yesterday half an hour before the school run I decided I’d quickly swatch for my #hobbiielements design and as I was casting on (I posted the photo to my stories) I just thought, “no! These colours are too pretty to disappear with my stories!” So I just sat underneath my bendy-arm-that-holds-my-camera-thingy (I’m nothing if not professional!) and just filmed a few seconds of knitting each colour. There’s nothing like a nice swatch to get all my creative juices flowing and I’m desperate to start on this jumper. But, I’m going to do things right and wait until tomorrow when my mum comes over so I can sit down and get ALL the maths and grading out of the way. I find that that way there’s a much better chance of me actually writing (and finishing!) the pattern 😂.   1. KLEUR is the name of the new #shawl #knittingpattern that I’m excited to share with you to celebrate the start of 2019. ‘Kleur’ translates to ‘colour’ (from Dutch to English). The Quarter Wheel and Spines sections are #knitted in a striking spectrum of #naturaldyedyarn by @woollenflower (for which you can pop over to her shop for kits). The #natural #undyed black, white and grey are #garthenorronas from @garthenor, used for the Mitre Stripes (black and white) and External Curve (grey). My thanks also go to @muirandco for #knitting this sample for me. To @roseewoodland - our design-brains work in such different ways, it becomes a fascinating collaboration to work with her as a #techeditor.   3. ROW/ROUND - after yesterday’s frogging, the bottom edge is getting and extra 3cm of #corrugatedribbing and a 2-row/round striped #icordbindoff. So far it seems to not be flipping up at all, which is good news. I’m never sure whether I want to call it a row or round when it comes to #icord, so I tend go with row/round. It’s #knitted as a row, but makes a round. In any case, I’m enjoying the ‘yucky’ combination of auburn and dirty dirty yellow.

  1. When @grainlinestudio released the #grainlineaustin a few weeks ago that side button band closure and cut away armholes just suckered me in. This dress has two versions - A: knee length A-line dress and B: gathered skirt with patch pockets -and is an advanced beginner pattern. It comes in two size ranges: 0-18 B cup and 14-32 D cup. I’ve sewn version B in size 4 which is the size recommended for my bust and very close to my waist/hip measurements and have used Ava Check linen (4.7oz/160gsm) from @merchantandmills . The pattern states that there is 9” of ease at the bust and is semi fitted - I don’t think that there is that much ease (for this size anyway) I think there is around 4” (which is just perfect). I did sew a quick muslin/toile of the bodice to check the fit and dart placement (it has armhole darts) - it took all of 10 mins - and found it to be spot on so made no adjustments. Contrary to the instructions I cut the back bodice, front and back skirt pieces on the fold after removing the seam allowances- I didn’t really want to have to match the check unnecessarily on those pieces. As expected the instructions from grainline are excellent. So much to love about this pattern- it’s super comfortable (without being too loose), love the buttons, deep hem, cut away arms, big pockets, nice neckline …. and if your scared about sewing 16 buttonholes then I can let you into a secret …. I can get this dress on/off without undoing any of them so you could skip the buttonholes (or most of them) and just secure the side seams by sewing the buttons on through both bands so they are non-functioning😉.   2. We’re still having great late summer weather here, so I decided to sew another @closetcorepatterns #closetcoreelodie . I’d seen some great black versions and, although I don’t wear that much back nowadays, decided I had to have one😉. I like that you can see the design lines (especially the under bust darts) better in a solid fabric. I’ve used @merchantandmills 185 linen - colour “sweeps scrim”. The linen is perfect for this dress - nice structure snd drape at the same time🤗. I sewed a size 6, which is the recommended size for me, with no changes. The wrap stays together perfectly. The bodice has a facing that’s secured at the shoulders, back neckline and waist meaning there’s no room for it to annoyingly flip out. The neckline isn’t too low, doesn’t gape and stays in place. With all the options this dress has it’s just perfect and timeless.   3. Back on my @makeninechallenge and here is my newly finished squidgy @grainlinestudio #tamarackjacket 🤗 and I’m super happy with it. The outer is @merchantandmills 185 linen (colour “Ginger”) and the lining @merchantandmills Indian cotton (Kingley red organic). The wadding/batting is a washable wool (Tuscany collection) from @ladysewandsewhenley . I used a @schmetzneedles 90/14 topstitch needle with @guetermann_creativ_uk extra strong thread to quilt it with sew-all thread in the bobbin. Snaps are @prym.consumer Anorak 15mm . I purchased the “Tamarack hood, collar & patch pockets” add on to make this version - you also need the original pattern (collarless) to make this - the add on makes this pattern very versatile. For sizing I blended between a size 4 at the bust and 2 at the waist/hips. A big thank you to @grainlinestudio for the absolutely amazing 15 part YouTube sewalong which takes you through every single step of making this jacket. I veered slightly from the instructions when it came to inserting the sleeves and set mine in rather than sewing flat. I bound all internal seams for a lovely neat finish and hand sewed down all of the bias binding edging. NEW CAL RELEASE I originally intended to design just a couple of extra Christmas panels which could be added to my 2020 CAL Letitia's Holiday, but before I knew it I had enough designs for a whole new CAL ... and HoHoHo was born! 😁🥳 The Introduction file is now available from my Ravelry store. Details and thoughts on my @thebargelloedit quilted vest… ✨bought this fabric with no clue what to make however this apricot and black combo spoke to me ✨ pattern is the @newcrafthouse Everyday Waistcoat ✨ I used some cotton linen from my stash and this gorgeous fabric from @thebargelloedit as the 2nd fabric, quilting both layers with some wadding. ✨ following the patterned fabric when quilting I think worked a treat. It gives a lovely effect on the outer fabric ✨ hand sewing the binding and French seaming was worth it, it’s given it a great finish and makes it fully reversible ✨ I wasn’t sure id wear a quilted vest but let me tell you, I’ve lived in it since making it and I will for sure be making another ✨no regrets making it in black… the versatility and styling options are endless. ✨ My fellow bees @miasartyfarty @thebettysilk & @tonyr.maker as well as other accounts I’ve seen later really inspired this make. ✨ head over to @thebargelloedit now… the fabric collection has a limited run and is having a massive sale as we speak. It’s my #yesteryearssweater by @maxtheknitter using @labienaimee Corrie Worsted in the colours Payne’s Grey and Rust. This pattern is from the Worsted book curated by Aimée from LBA and published by @laine_magazine. It’s my first colourwork jumper and I’m so proud of myself for getting through the yoke. I definitely need some improvement on my technique but practice makes perfect. The yarn is soft yet textured in my hand as I knit. I know it’s going to bloom beautifully and I love how the low contrast between the colours is playing together.   3. This is my #yesteryearssweater, my first finished piece of 2022 was my first colourwork jumper and also my Christmas Eve Cast on! I could talk all day about so many wonderful aspects of this jumper. The design by @maxtheknitter is visually striking and his attention to detail always astounds me. It is knit up in @labienaimee Corrie Worsted in the colour ways Paine’s Grey and Rust. This yarn is something really special, it was a complete joy to knit with and the fabric it has created has me reaching for it every other day. The colours, of course are fantastic with depth and nuance I can’t get enough of. I chose two colours with a low contrast this time.
