  1. Since I started running when I was 5 years old, I’ve had dreams of running professionally, setting records, winning an Olympic gold medal and being one of the best in the world. I have always blindly believed that I was good enough to achieve those things. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve put in more time, more miles, have become more dedicated, and have learned to genuinely love this sport. It’s what brings me the most joy. It’s where I feel the most me. I have always done it the right way. I’ve put my head down and just worked at being better year after year. I’ve stayed patient and trusted that the work and consistency would show. I still have all of the same dreams I had when I was 5 and I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have been able to have achieved some of them. I still have others that I’m working towards. But the thing that truly drives me is the love and joy I get from what I do and the curiosity to find out what my potential is. On January 14th, 2021, I received an email from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), informing me a drug testing sample that I provided on December 15th, 2020 has returned as an Adverse Analytical Finding for an anabolic steroid called Nandrolone and that I am therefore subject to an immediate Provisional Suspension. When I got that email, I had to read it over about ten times and google what it was that I had just tested positive for. I had never even heard of nandrolone. I have since learned that it has long been understood by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) that eating pork can lead to a false positive for nandrolone, since certain types of pigs produce it naturally in high amounts. Pig organ meat (offal) has the highest levels of nandrolone. In the following 5 days after being notified, I put together a food log of everything that I consumed the week of that December 15th test. We concluded that the most likely explanation was a burrito purchased and consumed approximately 10 hours before that drug test from an authentic Mexican food truck that serves pig offal near my house in Beaverton, Oregon. I notified the AIU that I believed this was the source. **Post continued in comments**

  3. This week, my attorneys sought an emergency injunction with the Swiss Federal Tribunal to allow me to run the Olympic Trials while my appeal of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision is pending. Unfortunately this morning, they did not grant our request for the emergency order. The court found that because the CAS has not released its reasoning for the decision they can't know whether I am likely to succeed in an appeal. I want to be clear that, contrary to media reports, I never had any intention of competing if this injunction wasn’t granted. If I was going to race, it was going to be in the right way. I respect the sport and my competitors too much. I would never jeopardize the legal standing of the US team and the Olympic dreams of others. This ruling means that my goal of making another Olympic team is over for now. I can’t begin to find the words to express how disheartening this is. It absolutely breaks my heart to have my dreams and career taken away for something I did not do. I will forge ahead with my appeal to the Swiss Federal Tribunal once the Court of Arbitration for Sport issues its reasoned decision. I am told that appeals of this kind are difficult to win, but I continue to believe that the truth will prevail. As I continue to navigate this difficult process and past week, there are just a few things that I would like to say. I cannot express my gratitude to the outpouring of support I have received. It means the world to me that so many of you have reached out with kind words, offerings of help, and have stood by me with support. I will never forget how loved you have all made me feel. To all those who have been actively helping me through this- I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me. I have an amazing group of people surrounding me.

  3. TW: infertility success Surprise!!!! I have been working on a v v cool collab for the last eight months. After all of the heartbreak with our fertility journey, failed IVF rounds, and a miscarriage, I didn't feel like sharing the news publicly but I'm about to go on mat leave so now is the time, I guess!!! Super excited to meet Beerling 2 in March!!! I acknowledge that pregnancy announcements can be really rough: if this is you, I see you and I’m sorry. I feel like our time battling through IVF and infertility was one of the hardest of my life, and I’ve been through bloody brain surgery!! I now know why people call themselves IVF warriors. I haven't been on IG much this past year, mostly because I just haven't felt mentally up to it; 2023 was, without a doubt, one of the hardest years of my life.  What we went through is a sliver of pain compared to what other couples facing infertility go through. And yet, I feel like this past year of the deepest, most bruising heartbreak I've ever felt has fundamentally changed me. It's made me a sadder person. But it's also made my appreciation of the bloody miracle of actually having a child so much more vivid. How strange, how wondrous, how fleeting it all is. How we brush off infertility as a simply a sad thing when it is so much more complex and deep than that. How children in Gaza, so wanted, so special, were and are being killed, and how irreconcilable that is to living in a just world.  Forget grandiose resolutions. All I want for 2024 is to bring this little one home healthy and safe. (Aaaand maybe have my first novel published, MORE ON THAT LATER.) Now we're mere weeks away from meeting 'Na-na' (the baby's name, according to Augie) and I can't quite believe that it's real.  Special shout out to @althaea.acupuncture for the needlings, jokes, and friendly ear; I kid that this baby is one of her miracles.

  1. The Haters by Robyn Harding ⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️/5 Pub Date: July 2, 2024 🔹 ARC GIVEAWAY - WINNER: @bookswithls I have an extra copy of this fabulous novel! To enter, follow me & tag two friends. For an extra entry, share to your story and drop a ⌨️ in the comments. Open to US Only. Closes 7/4/24. Winner must be comfortable giving their address and will hear from me only! Not affiliated with Instagram, author or publishers. 🔹Description: After years of struggle and rejection, Camryn Lane’s first novel has finally been published. All is well until she receives a disturbing message from an unknown sender. Rattled by the accusations, Camryn swallows the sick feeling in her stomach and resolves to put the missive out of her mind. But when she checks her ratings on a popular book site, she finds a scathing one-star review. The reviewer is so convincing soon, Camryn’s book is flooded with bad reviews. Could the reviewer be the same person who sent the ugly email? And why do they want to ruin her? As the online harassment creeps into Camryn’s personal life, she vows to find out who’s behind it. Is it really a disgruntled reader? Or could it be someone she knows? The troll’s actions are escalating, and when the abuse turns deadly, it will take everything Camryn has to unmask the enemy so intent on destroying her—and finally learn why she’s being targeted. 🔹Review: Another compelling banger from Harding! I binged this in a few hours because I could not put it down. Camryn was such an interesting MC and I really enjoyed watching her life spiral out of control (sorry not sorry!) I kept trying to figure out who was responsible for the online attacks and am happy that I didn’t figure it out because I loved the ending. If the fictional novel, BURNT ORANGE, is ever released I will obviously be reading it. ❓What is something you would love to cancel? In life, Mondays being work days. Right now it would also be seeing anymore Hawk Tuah memes lolol. Thank you @novelsuspects and @grandcentralpub for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

  2. A Talent for Murder by Peter Swanson 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪/5 Pub Date: June 11, 2024 🔹Description: Martha Ratliff was fine being alone, happy with her solo existence, stimulated by her job as an archival librarian. But then she met Alan, a charming and sweet-natured divorcee with a job that took him on the road for half the year. A year in and the marriage was good, except for that strange blood streak on the back of one of his shirts he’d worn to a conference in Denver. Her curiosity turning to suspicion, Martha investigates the cities Alan visited over the past year and uncovers a disturbing pattern - five unsolved cases of murdered women. Is she married to a serial killer? Or could it merely be a coincidence? Martha contacts an old friend from graduate school for advice. Lily Kintner once helped Martha out of a jam with an abusive boyfriend and may have some insight. Intrigued, Lily offers to meet Alan to find out what kind of man he really is but what Lily uncovers is more perplexing and wicked than they ever could have expected. 🔹Review: Swanson is a must read author for me and he knocks it out of the park again with this third in the Henry Kimball/Lily Kinter series. I loved the set up and premise and enjoyed seeing Martha and Lily try to find out what Alan was up to. I enjoyed how Swanson broke it into parts and multiple POVs that fit with the plot. The twist was twisting in this one and I was geniunely shocked. You could definitly read this as a standalone but I highly recommend going back to the first two in the series and starting there. 🔹Read this if you’re looking for: *a cat and mouse chase *serious deceptions *hunting a potential serial killer *a psychological thriller with morally grey protaganists ❓Will you read a book in a series out of order? I try my hardest not to but it does happen. If I love it I will go back and try to read the whole series. Thank you @williammorrowbooks for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

  3. Such a Bad Influence by Olivia Muenter 🤳🤳🤳🤳/5 Pub Date: June 4, 2024 🔹Description: Hazel Davis is drifting: she’s stalled in her career, living in a city she hates, and less successful than her younger sister, @evelyn, a mega-popular lifestyle influencer. Evie came of age online, having gone viral at five years old for a heart-tugging daddy-daughter dance. Ten years older and spotlight-averse, Hazel managed to dodge the family YouTube channel - so although she can barely afford her apartment, at least she made her own way. Evie is eighteen now, with a multimillion-dollar career and unlimited opportunities, but Hazel is still protective of her little sister. So when Evie disappears one day, during an unsettling live stream that cuts out mid-sentence, Hazel is horrified to have her worst instincts proven right. As theories about Evie’s disappearance tear through the internet, inspiring hashtags, Reddit threads, podcast episodes, and scorn, Hazel throws herself into the darkest parts of her sister’s world to untangle the threads of truth. After all, Hazel knows Evie better than anyone else…doesn’t she? 🔹Review: Well, hello social commentary! I have been a fan of Olivia Muenter for a while as she was a Philly girl for a bit and I loved getting her dining recommendations. When I saw she was writing a book about a missing influence it went immediately to the top of my TBR. I loved the parallels to real influencers (loved the “fictional” story about an influence locking herself in a high end Mexican hotel room) and definitely could see where Muenter was getting inspiritation from with various snark forums. While this is less thriller and more mystery, I enjoyed the suspense. This would be an awesome book club pick as it is ripe for discussion. 🔹Read this if you’re looking for: *the explotation of children online *a look into the effects of social media *really bad parenting *a slow burn mystery filled with family drama ❓What do you have on your June TBR? THE MIDNIGHT FEAST by Lucy Foley is at the top of mine. Thank you @quirkbooks for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
