  3. It was incredible to fish all over Europe with Jay and we all saw each other catch so many great fish including personal bests . The One fish which always stands out for me and was an important capture for Jay was when we was sharing a swim at Abbey Lakes on Kingfisher and he caught this incredible mirror which was a new 60 for the lake and he was allowed to name it and his was proud to name the carp after his father Roger. It was amazing to share the moment with him and I’m pretty sure one day there will be a carp or multiple carp name after you Mungo. 💚 #carp #fishing #adventures #memories #fyp

Braced with a 40lb common and three others, have a word!!!!! Bart sent us a few words: “After my first trip to my @llyncaetynant_fishery syndicate in February going so well catching a lovely carp a nudge under 40lb I was itching to get back for another go. However that wasn’t meant to be with other commitments so the may trip it was. With this time of year depth of water is a huge importance so I split my rods up to cover as many spots as I could. Small patches of attractive bait was key but at the same time you’re not committing to a spot with large amounts of bait. Some mini pellets, 8mm boilies and some crushed boilie was just the ticket for this. A 12mm pink hookbait was my choice fished on spinners with size 6 Long Shank Wide Gape hooks, 35lb Coretex hooklinks with Slik clips. I ended up catching five fish over the course of a couple of nights from 4 different spots. Including a brute 36lb linear, a lovely 37.4 glass common, another common over that magical 40lb barrier and the cherry on the cake being a colossal 47.2 mirror called “the carving”. I was fishing with Trev who managed a few lovely fish himself too. So good times all round and a lovely bit of fishing.” @markbartlett1

  1. Made a friend the other week. This magpie took a liking to the boilies from @dtbaitofficial and was showing off some ninja like moves chasing down these little balls of goodness. I love magpies, they are beautiful birds and extremely clever. With the wide range of wildlife we encounter on the bank, there’s never a dull moment!

  2. Well, after the crazy week I had, my rig wallet which is normally well stocked with fresh rigs took a serious hammering! Even though I tied some more, the wallet remained looking a bit sad but the scrap pile was growing. In the words of @rennakanemaster “this is not a bad problem to have” and he couldn’t be more right! 16 bites, 16 fish, 10x20s (with a good head of them being 25-29) 5x30s and 1x40! The test bait from @dtbaitofficial is tearing this place apart! Pair that with some size 4 @jprecisionhooks curves and you’ve got something the fish can’t get enough of, but also just cannot deal with once they so much as look at my rig! Still 4 nights left…can I make it to a nice round number and get to 20 fish? Can I hit the milestone of my 20th UK 30 or even my 5th UK 40….. The next few days will reveal all!

  3. ***ZOOM IN FOR THIS*** The third and final fish of my trip to pit 4 was a piece of history! A proper old, crusty dinosaur with a broken rib, rough skin and sunken scales. Scars all over it and a short spiky dorsal made it look even more the warrior. Not to mention it’s ridiculously massive gob!! I called the bailiff just incase he wanted to see the fish and he identified it as the oldest or one of the oldest (I can’t remember) fish on the entire complex-which would explain the bream like fight 😅 The fish was well looked after and went back happily. Really happy to have had this one, easily the coolest carp I’ve ever caught and more than likely the oldest!   2. Cracker of a morning flight. I noticed a steady flight of geese into a nearby field whilst out duck shooting the other day so I decided to dust down the decoys for a change of pace. It’s a real novelty for me to decoy geese over a field,(I’m usually up to my knees in mud so this was much more civilized). There’s always that anxiety in the morning that the geese might not show but the birds came in like a charm. Normally I set a personal limit of 6 birds but I took a couple extra to try a few new recipes. Packed up early with the geese still piling in and left them undisturbed for the rest of the morning👌

  3. Mixed emotions for this cracker of a buck. I pulled the shot slightly resulting in a stressful few minutes and a follow up shot needed. Fortunately the buck only went 20 meters and the guide and I managed to dispatch it quickly. It’s a horrible feeling when things don’t go to plan. I’ve always heard that if you shoot enough deer, you’ll eventually lose one but this is as close as I’d want to come. At the time I felt pretty sick with myself but in truth, I’m also relieved it was over very quickly and that the animal was dispatched asap. I didn’t want to dress the post up as something it wasn’t. You do replay the situation over with a lot of “what if’s?”. In reality, the outcome could have been a lot worse. I’m relived the animal was dispatched very quickly,(the venison as a side factor is still useable) and hopefully that’s as close as I’ll ever come to losing a deer.
