  2. Well, after the crazy week I had, my rig wallet which is normally well stocked with fresh rigs took a serious hammering! Even though I tied some more, the wallet remained looking a bit sad but the scrap pile was growing. In the words of @rennakanemaster “this is not a bad problem to have” and he couldn’t be more right! 16 bites, 16 fish, 10x20s (with a good head of them being 25-29) 5x30s and 1x40! The test bait from @dtbaitofficial is tearing this place apart! Pair that with some size 4 @jprecisionhooks curves and you’ve got something the fish can’t get enough of, but also just cannot deal with once they so much as look at my rig! Still 4 nights left…can I make it to a nice round number and get to 20 fish? Can I hit the milestone of my 20th UK 30 or even my 5th UK 40….. The next few days will reveal all!

  3. ***ZOOM IN FOR THIS*** The third and final fish of my trip to pit 4 was a piece of history! A proper old, crusty dinosaur with a broken rib, rough skin and sunken scales. Scars all over it and a short spiky dorsal made it look even more the warrior. Not to mention it’s ridiculously massive gob!! I called the bailiff just incase he wanted to see the fish and he identified it as the oldest or one of the oldest (I can’t remember) fish on the entire complex-which would explain the bream like fight 😅 The fish was well looked after and went back happily. Really happy to have had this one, easily the coolest carp I’ve ever caught and more than likely the oldest! Place the bulk of the leg on your knee and apply some pressure levering the lower leg down to the floor. Using the weight of the animal this opens up the joint slightly and makes your cuts more accurate. Pheasant/Partridge goujons are a go-to during the shooting season so here are 7 steps to achieve #GoujonGreatness 👨‍🍳 1️⃣ Breast - this can work with fresh or frozen breasts ✅ 2️⃣ Slice - into strips of roughly equal thickness, think chicken selects from maccies (who doesn’t like a chicken select?!) 🍗 3️⃣ Buttermilk - very important step! The acidity of buttermilk helps to break down tough muscle fibres whilst retaining moisture, this helps to tenderise the strips (shout out to @libbyround5 for teaching me this years ago 👊) - leave the breast for at least a couple of hours, preferably overnight if you can 🕰️ 4️⃣ Spices - admittedly I tend to freestyle it but find that adding salt, pepper, smoked paprika and garlic powder is the one👌🏻 try roughly for about 100g of flour per 4 breasts. 🌶️ 5️⃣ Toss - take the strips out the buttermilk and shake off excess, toss them in the spiced flour. ** For best results, once coated put them back in the fridge for half an hour or so, this helps the coating to properly stick and it won’t come off in the pan** 🍳 6️⃣ Fry - get those rascals in the pan!!! Important that the oil is really hot and fry for about 4 mins each side. 🔥 7️⃣ Season - channel your inner salt bae 🤌🏻 Then - Bon Appetit!   3. May I present the unofficial (don’t ask) Polish record 83lb 6oz. Caught using Hobo Armour size 4 Off Set, 25lb Armourweave, multi rig style with a single 18mm DNA baits S7 wafter over a bed of Monster Particle Hemp & Maize. This fish is a real beast, one that has caused me to shake all day long. I cannot put into words the feelings I have gone through today, from overall joy full of adrenaline, buzzing to the dread of thinking what if something should happen to the fish, what others say, the doubters. However this fish was verified by 3 other witnesses. Total mix of emotions, but one I shall never forget. But honestly—one of the best parts is watching a big fish swim off strong after the battle. Catching a big Tope on slack water at anchor really puts your gear to the test. Luckily, the Shimano Speedmaster II Size 12 reels and Aspire 20-30lb class rods handled it like a dream. We rigged up with wire traces and a mix of Matsu Circle 8/0 and Cox & Rawle Catfish 4/0 hooks—and the results speak for themselves.
