  2. Creatine 💪🏽⚡️👨🏽‍🔬 Had a lot of people asking me if they should take creatine and I will likely do a separate post for that. But I’ve equally had people ask me if they should increase their daily intake from the recommended 5g/day to 15g-20g/day, 3-4x the usual amount. Why, you ask? Creatine has been heralded as a great supplement for muscle hypertrophy and strength performance for the past 2 decades. [PMID:17908288] In recent years there has been interest in the potential benefits on both bone and brain health 🧠 From a muscle perspective there are two popular dosing protocols which appear to work for most people. Either: - Loading phase of 20-30g for 7 days followed by a maintenance phase of 3-5g thereafter - Skip loading, take 3-5g daily until muscle stores are saturated [PMID:17908288] Less is known about the optimal creatine supplementation protocol for improving bone structure and brain function. The few studies which have looked at this have used higher doses between 8g and 30g per day and there’s been a wide range of differences in both the uptake of creatine into the brain as well as the downstream effects on cognitive function including memory, executive function, attention and processing speed. But on the whole things look positive [PMID:39070254] More studies need to be done to establish the role creatine supplementation could have on brain health. Bottom line: If you supplement creatine for muscle health you’ve got plenty of research backing you up, either load 20g per day for 7 days and then 3-5g daily thereafter or go for 5g daily outright. Combine with resistance training for the muscle and bone benefits. If you want to take higher doses for brain health then 15-30g seems to be the dose but there is not enough robust long term data. You may also potentially experience GI issues at higher doses. Those with health issues should speak to their doctor before starting. Use creatine monohydrate, everything else is just fancy marketing. Pretty much all creatine supplements are vegan but always read the label. #Creatine #Supplement #Muscle #Bone #Brain #Health #Fitness

  1. “I COULD NEVER GIVE UP CHEESE” I pretty much hear this phrase every single day. Yes, cheese does taste fantastic and yes, vegan cheese can take some getting used to but, if I can give up dairy cheese than ANYONE can! I didn’t go vegan over night, it took me a couple of months to slowly cut out animal products and cheese was the last to go! But I recently found out why people love cheese so much... Cheese contains a substance called casein which triggers the brain’s opioid receptors in the same way that heroin and morphine do. In nature, this is to ensure that the calf always returns to the mother to nurse during their infancy. So it has been scientifically proven that cheese is addictive which is why some of us may crave it and struggle with the thought of giving it up. I now no longer miss cheese and now no longer think of it as a food product or something that I would ever want to eat. The good news is that vegan cheeses are getting better, more delicious and more versatile which is fantastic! Just like the cheese on this divine @pickywops pizza! Honestly these guys’ pizzas are the best I’ve ever had! Support your local vegan businesses at the moment guys! They need us ✌🏼 #vegancheese #veganpizza #veganpizzagram #veganpizzalover #veganpizzalover #pizzaporn #pizzalovers🍕 #pickywops #vegancheeses #pestopizza #vegannightsldn #dairyisscary #dairyfreepizza #govegan🌱 #veganfortheanimals #veganfortheplanet #veganfoodporn #veganjunkfood #veganheaven #plantbasedpower #londonvegan #veganlondon #veganfoodblogger #veganfoodblog #londonfoodguide #londonfoodblog #veganfoodie #plantbasedfoodie

  1. Veganism in 2021 & the future of being vegan 🌱 Good morning islanders. Happy Halloween to you all, I hope you all enjoy the day wherever you are in the world! I’ve traded in going out for a night in with movies, popcorn and a little bit of TLC! So lately I’ve been thinking about my content and what I want to be posting. As much a I love sharing food recipes with you and reviews, my last post about veganism and the price to pay (literally) for our lifestyle really hit off with you guys and so many of you engaged and commented. So I’m going to start posting more about the history, different events in our community and little conversation starters with you all! So I saw this post about how Veganism is just mainstream or a hipster trend and it isn’t just for the animals anymore…. And this hit home a little bit. Myself primarily choosing a lifestyle due to my love for animals and wanting to put an end to their suffering, disagrees yet agrees with the statement. We all have our reasons for going vegan wether it’s for health reasons, intolerances or just because you want to how often do you see that veganism is the way forward to prevent climate change? And less so about the actual sufferings behind the meat & dairy industry. During the late 20th century, the veganism movement was most driven by animal rights concerns, and was closely related to protests against using products like leather or fur in clothing, or testing cosmetics on animals. Many vegans are still passionate about these topics today, but it wasn’t until veganism began to be touted as a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle that it really began to gain traction. But now there are so many more reasons then just saving animals right? Why did you become vegan? And do you feel that some people are “vegan” just for the trend?
