  2. “Holdfast” ⚓️ An old sailors term for rough sea’s that means to hold on tight and see it through. I only started new ADHD meds this week and I’m already catching glimpses of how much of me has just been autopilot. Purely existing. It’s strange and good. And it’s making me realise I didn’t really have as much control before as I told myself I did. Becoming increasingly aware of how dangerous my brain actually can be. The thoughts that it could make me have and the things that can make me believe. Silence and clarity provided me the distance needed to see how much I was really holding on for dear life. I know this is a gym focused page, but a huge part of that for me is my mental health and managing my ADHD in the way that allows me to get into the gym. That all starts with the thoughts in my head.   3. may recap & things we learnt this month. April was a really heavy month for me so May was all about pulling it back and forming new, rigid habits that benefit me in the long run. I’m aiming to continue to build upward over summer and therefore, May was my month to ground myself again. I try it’s safe to say I did. I almost lost it this last week but typing this with a hungry belly doesn’t discredit all the healthy habits that I have formed this month. Focusing hard on things that other people would consider “normal habits” can be very overwhelming when you have ADHD. Discipline is not a thing that comes naturally. U76 🥇 Welsh Championships 2025 This might surprise a lot of people but I’m actually really not competitive at all and I genuinely just want to better myself each competition (which might be why I’ve never won before🤣) but this time I knew I had to win to get myself back to the competition I loved competing in last year 🙏🏻 And I can’t lie, winning did feel very good but also very emotional 😭 The total I put up does not reflect my overall strength but it does reflect my resilience, patience and positivity that I’ve held onto for the last 8 weeks. I also walked away with a bench PB which was originally my lifetime goal when I started powerlifting of 100KG 🥹 I’ve found so much joy in life outside of lifting recently and I’m really going to enjoy those aspects over the next few weeks but just know that Millielifts at the British Open 2025 will be INSANE. ST SUMMER SHOWDOWN RECAP Mixed bag today personally, wanted more but can’t complain at the result for first time out in 18 months. 7/9 742.5kg Total (70kg Best) 272.5kg Squat (25kg Comp Best) 160kg Bench Press (15kg Comp Best) 310 Deadlift (30kg competition best and 5kg All Time PB!) Two misses on Squat/Bench took me by surprise, could potentially blame the pace of the day but reality is I was light and not strong enough for them today. Also managed to snag the 🥇 by 1 IPF Point which was nice as it’s my first actual win😂😂 @supertraininguk ran a great comp moved so smoothly so thanks everyone, special mention @gb_powerlifting_support_group with some great commentary and support during the day.   1. WHY? ✨⤵️ You’re planning on competing but you; 1. Don’t have your heels on the floor while you bench 2. Never lock out on deadlifts 3. Don’t know what the commands are 4. Never hit depth on squats 5. Have non IPF approved kit The rules are there and the best advice I can give you is train to comp standards. To do that you need to have a good idea of the IPF rules ✅ If you don’t train to comp standards prior you are gonna see a lot of red lights and your first comp experience is likely to be 💩 Don’t ruin what is meant to be an amazing day, by being negligent.   1. Little recap of my comp last weekend at @nottinghamstrong. It's been 2 years since my last competition so slightly nervous going into it, plus the fact I was going in sleeves and pulling sumo both for the first time in competition. These sick photos from @shotslikesumo sum up the whole day plus a video of my last deadlift which I am super happy with. Looks like I'll be pulling more than conventional soon!   2. Comp recap! Honestly such an amazing time at @nottinghamstrong qualifier. @wookielifting and @amandakins2 you put on an absolute beast of a comp! So much fun all weekend surrounded by all my favourite people!!! Best lifts: Squat 112.5kg (2.5kg comp PB) Bench 57.5kg Deadlift 147.5kg (2.5kg comp PB) With an honourable mention of the 152.5kg 20+ second grind!
