  1. Calisthenics LEG WORKOUT: Assisted & Accessible 💪🏼 Unilateral leg training is in a league of its own and, when lacking equipment, the only way is to keep levelling up your squats and lunges. But, there is a huge jump in strength from the regular static lunge and one of these, so where to start? I’ve got you covered with these assisted variations! Quick breakdown: 1️⃣ SISSY SQUAT - Focus on full hip extension; push into the ground through the balls of your feet, clench glutes throughout and keep leaning back. To make it easier, use ‘NEGATIVES’ - lower yourself onto your knees (use a pad if needed), then sit on your heels, stand back up and repeat. To make it harder without fully letting go, hold a bar or PVC pipe to your side to rely on your legs more. 2️⃣ SHRIMP SQUAT - Keep front knee above the ankle and touch the other knee down as far back as possible, clenching glutes throughout. To make it easier, you can tap the toes down (but don’t push too much) or, to make it harder, hold the back foot to your bum and only use one hand on the bar. 3️⃣ PISTOL SQUAT - I’m sure everyone knows of this brilliant unilateral exercise. To make it easier (in case you cannot lift the front leg too high), stand on a platform or, to make it harder, attempt to hold your foot on the extended leg with one or both hands. 4️⃣ DRAGON SQUAT - Take the elevated leg behind your supported leg, crossing thighs as you squat down and sit on your heel. To make it easier, stand on a small platform to make more room for the extended leg. To make it harder, you’ll have to forego the bars and fold yourself over your front thigh to avoid falling over. 🤭 ✅ Remember to keep your heel down at all times for optimal glute recruitment and start out with sets of 3-5 repetitions and work your way up to 10 reps per set, then move on to unassisted versions. I will also share a part two with the progressions but for now - have fun! 💪🏼😎 #legworkout #bodyweighttraining #bodyweightworkout #calistenia #sissysquat #shrimpsquat #dragonsquat

  2. CALISTHENICS is ACCESSIBLE when I’m around! 😎 I have actually had to use this method at a workshop once because the participants really wanted to try human flag and its variations but we lacked the proper Swedish Ladder so we ended up using a fence! 🤭 ✅ The STEPS to get on the bar are no different from the climbing technique on the ladder wall. (I have linked the sequence of reels to help you get there.) ✅ It is SAFE for practising tuck holds, half tuck, vertical flag or even bent knee and perhaps some other variations such as diamond and split holds if you are more experienced. ❗️The bar shouldn’t be higher than your CHEST - you want to be able to reach the bars without hyperextending your elbows. The PARALLETTE should be placed around 10-20cm from the station and not directly below the bar. This is to allow for better weight transfer. ⚠️ You will find the actual FULL FLAG very hard/potentially impossible to hold due to the need to push into the parallette and, there will be no traction once your body is horizontal. ❌ I do not recommend attempting this WITHOUT a parallette as the pressure on the lower hand is otherwise too high and most people won’t have the wrist/elbow/shoulder stability to hold this. (I have, however, demonstrated one attempt for everyone curious at the end of the video.) 🤭 I know some of you have been desperately hoping to get to try this skill but don’t have access to a ladder wall so perhaps this will be of help! 🤞🏼☺️ Or, if you have access to a gym then you can use the barbell method which I have demonstrated in another video. Either follow the linked reels or click on the TUTORIALS highlight! 3. HOW to use the LADDER WALL for BACK LEVER drills 💪🏼 I love to make the inaccessible possible by providing all the secrets of the trade. Calisthenics has some seriously cool moves, which would remain unreachable for many if these tips weren’t shared and, for years, I have worked hard on helping beginners gain access to any skill level. My most recent BACK LEVER CONDITIONING reel got a lot of great attention and plenty of saves but also several questions about how to safely get into position. It is probably a lot more simple than you expected it to be, but I hope this encourages you to practise shapes to your heart’s content and to share this discovery with others. ☺️ ⚠️ Do note that when using an actual SWEDISH LADDER (wooden gymnastics wall with narrow gaps between bars) then the full back lever drills will not be possible as you cannot put your head through the gap. ✅ However, you can still work on leg raises to build up your core strength and the pulling power through the shoulders and lats. And you’ll also soon have several new handstand conditioning drills to work on using this setup, so keep your eyes peeled over the next few days! ☺️ In the meantime, BONUS TIPS for using the ladder wall: ✳️ PULL through your hands to avoid overusing the neck. Your neck serves a purpose as a stabiliser at the bottom of the range during diagonal holds but the rest of the strength MUST come through your arms and hands. ✳️ Keep SHOULDERS internally rotated to keep your pecs and lats switched on; this will also make pulling easier. ✳️ Do REMEMBER that by bending from the hips you are training your core and glutes (and possibly your lower back), however in order to successfully perform the back lever drills, you must keep your whole body rigid and only move from the shoulders (as displayed in the first clip). I am loving seeing you all unlock these new moves with my help, thank you so much for reaching out from across the world and sharing your success with me! 🥹♥️ Good luck and keep me posted! 🥰 #backlever #backlevertraining #calisthenicsworkout #calisthenicstraining #backleverprogression #calistenia #calisthenicsuk #caliwiththeamazon
