👉 Some people don't track their progress seriously. That totally works... For people who don't take their results seriously. . Especially when you are trying to lose fat, build muscle, enhance performance naturally. We can't leave progress variables up to chance. . I get a lot of questions on that, for almost every single day. I counter back with a question. Generally, how is your eating like? What is your program looking like right now? Etc.. . You see, when I present such questions, as many other coaches would too. I am collecting data. The more data I have, more confidently I can conclude that you aren't eating enough, or you are eating too much, you are pushing too hard or might need some tweaks or periodization here and there in your program. . And when I get a response such as, "I don't track my portions", "I just cut carbs out", "I just followed whatever my gym partner is doing". I am basically hearing... . "I don't track anything, I have no recorded past experiences on that, I have no info for you. Now fix me." 😐 . For scientific papers to have 3 subjects vs 1500 subjects, 10 day vs 100 day readings. More data leads to stronger convictions which are then systematically reviewed. The more you keep track of variables, the more you know what works for you and what don't. Plus you can always go back and review what you did in the past. . Off the top of your head, can you recall EXACTLY what you ate for the past 14 days? I don't think so. This is why tracking is highly recommended in my book. For general population, tracking food portions and keeping a flexible program is nice. For Olympians, every single aspect of training and nutrition count towards their goal. . And if you haven't been doing that then its never too late to start now. . You can start with the easy things like weekly weigh ins, or scheduled tape measurements, track your workout volume, even without calorie counting, recording what you generally eat can help. Trust me, little things like this goes a long way. . This photo is taken exactly 2 weeks ago thanks to 📸@syamilirsyad_ . After 3 hard sets of bench pressing to 12 rep maxes. (Which is hard as fuck since Im not a good presser).

Imagine thinking you have to give up all of your favorite foods & meals for the rest of your life because they’re causing you to be fat. ♻️ SAVE & SHARE THIS POST Imagine thinking you can’t eat rice or potatoes anymore because it’s not good for fat loss… This is what I heard on one of our free body strategy calls last week. We’ll call him Brad. See Brad scheduled a call to see if I could help him with losing his belly/love handles. Of Course Brad, that’s what we do. So I asked Brad what has he done lately to make progress with that goal. He said for the last month or so, he’s cut out rice and potatoes and eats once per day. I asked Brad if he’s ok with eating like that for the rest of his life. Brad obviously said no. I told Brad that he’s following the wrong plan. I asked a few more questions and found out that rice and potatoes is a BIG part of Brad’s culture. Unfortunately somewhere down the line, Someone told Brad that he can’t eat those foods anymore because those are carbs and they’re keeping him overweight. This is why I do what I do. To help people build an enjoyable way of eating, without stressing over things that don’t matter. Let’s end this Demonization of Carbs. HERE’S WHAT REALLY MATTERS FOR FAT LOSS Make sure you’re in a REAL Calorie Deficit. Make sure you’re getting Enough Protein. Primarily Eat Whole Foods. Eat the Foods You ACTUALLY ENJOY. Don’t Focus on Hitting an Exact amount of Carbs and Fats as they are of lesser importance than the Total amount of calories you’re consuming. I shared this over at @builtbyplantscoaching, but figured I’d share it here as well. If you’re dieting and hungry, the goal should be to eat as much food as you can while still being in your caloric deficit. Stop snacking on foods that don’t give you a lot of volume per calorie, as by the time you’re finished eating them, the only thing it actually did was make you crave more of it. Instead, replace those high calorie foods with foods that are low calorie high volume/high nutrition. A good friend of mine just happened to randomly text me this photo today. Brought up a lot of great memories… and the realization that I played my first show with this kit, summer of ‘95, at a drum clinic in Houston, almost exactly 30 years ago to the day. Wow. As always, kudos to the guy who painted this monstrosity... my childhood friend—and still one of my best bros to this day—the one and only, @johndouglas_art. Stunning work, to say the least! Unless you have actually seen (and heard) this kit in person, you cannot fully appreciate the unparalleled artistry that went into its creation. Even the sound of the drums remains my favorite of all the Peavey Radial Bridge kits I’ve played and heard… not sure why. (Perhaps because of the extra clearcoat these drums likely required?) This pic was no doubt taken shortly after I got the kit, because we didn’t even have the outside bass drum heads that it would ultimately travel with. But man… dragging that kit all over North America the next few years was quite a scene! Everyone would freak over these drums... and rightfully so. There was just nothing else out there like ‘em. And, of course, the “Sistines” always had deeply significant personal meaning to me, given my lifelong fascination with Michelangelo, da Vinci, and the entire Renaissance era... along with a personal ethos rooted in much of that philosophy. Regrettably, I let this kit go way back in ‘08, without any real idea of how much I would grow to regret it later. But that’s another story for another time…

Give it some loooveee 💕💕 In this episode, I’m joined by vegan fitness super couple, @curtisfowlie and @ashleykingfitness . Outside of having to constantly dodge unsolicited attempts to contract them as billboard models for vegan beachwear brands, Curtis and Ashley both balance a lifestyle of working their respective day jobs, serious lifting and cardio, eating intelligently for their goals and raising a family of three boys. I have the privilege of coaching both of these amazing humans currently and I’m constantly impressed by how they manage their busy schedules so diligently both together and individually. I thought it’d be super interesting for others to hear about the in’s and out’s of just how a fit, healthy and busy vegan couple live their life and see what take-away’s we can glean that can apply to YOUR personal life as well whether you have a family of your own or not! We get into all the details about how they meal plan together, how they motivate each other to get to the gym or eat for their goals, how they raise their kids and what they all eat, how they balance work and fitness and much more! 1.) Soy does not appear to lower testosterone in men or significantly impact any sex hormones based on many studies and as concluded in a 2020 meta-analysis (for more info, check out aethixfitness.com/soy 2.) Plant based protein is as effective as animal based proteins for stimulating muscle protein synthesis in higher intakes (Hevia-Larrain, 2021) but they also have the added benefit of being associated with reductions in serum LDL (bad) cholesterol (Yokoyama, 2017), cardiovascular disease, all cause mortality (Chen, 2020) and more. 3.) Plant based diets do not appear to have any sort of detriment on strength, power output and/or exercise performance (Boutros, 2020)(Isenmann, 2023) and may in fact be beneficial, especially for cardiovascular performance (Barnard, 2019)(Pohl, 2021)

. Your HEALTH is an INVESTMENT not an EXPENSE. . ⁣Eating a well balanced meal is a lifestyle. What is not a lifestyle is not eating fruits because you are trying to avoid sugar 🍇🍉. What is not a lifestyle is eating a plate of steak but not eating potatoes because you heard too much carbs are bad for you🤔 . How about we concentrate on feeding our bodies nutritious foods? That includes carbohydrates believe it or not. We are so wrapped up in the quickest fix for things that we are not thinking in terms of longevity. . I’ve found that eating healthy 80-90% throughout the day has a lot of health benefits. I’m not perfect, I love my Tortilla Chips every now and then, but I don’t neglect the nutrients I need for growth and repair after my training sessions. . Deficiencies in some key nutrients - such as vitamin A, B, C and E, and zinc, iron and selenium - can weaken parts of your immune system. In a crucial time like this, we need to improve on taking good care of our immune system. . Staying active and eating a healthy balanced diet can help you to maintain a healthy weight. Yea, the gyms are still closed but your creative minds aren’t. Get up and move for 30-45mins. Also, try making your meals more rather than ordering out. Eat less from a BOX and more from the EARTH. 🥥 VEGAN COCONUT CURRY 🍲⁣ ⁣ Decided to try my hand at some coconut curry the other day and I’d say it came out pretty great! For the curry I combined canned coconut milk, red curry paste, chickpeas, broccoli, curry powder, salt and some minced garlic. Served with brown rice and a side of @wildwoodfoods high protein tofu 👌🏾The tofu was marinated in coconut aminos for 10-15 minutes then air fried for another 10 minutes. Total macros for this bowl came out to 700 calories, 90g carbs, 29g fat and 30g of protein 🌱😁
