Let me spare you the pain and misery I experienced when I joined this big ole international crafting circle and break the gig down in three easy steps. 1. Knitting is more expensive than you think it will be. That doesn't mean that it HAS to be expensive. It can be done on a budget! But that DOES mean you're gonna have to keep your eyes out for deals, destashes, and hit those community forum boards for resales. As a girly who loves a deal, I can attest. 2. The patterns are not overpriced. I won't elaborate. Don't ask people to share the copy they bought with you. 3. If you walk into this thinking that you know how to count... you are wrong. If you believe that you can identify one stitch from another and easily calculate the sum on your needles... you are incorrect. It isn't your fault.   2. 30.07.22 - A Day We'll Cherish Forever ❤️ Eunsang and I had always planned on having a small, intimate backyard wedding party, however, after legally getting married during the height of the pandemic with guests not allowed (not even our witnesses), we were finally able to celebrate our marriage this summer! 🎉 Anyone who planned a wedding during the pandemic knows the uncertainty, stress and patience it comes with, but add an international wedding to the mix and that's a whole other level of emotions! 🤯 But aside from logistics, the fact that the two of us were able to stand in front of some of our closest friends and celebrate the life we've created together is a true blessing. 🙏 Eunsang and I haven't had it easy to say the least. When we met back in 2012, after a year together we decided to take a chance on our relationship and try and relocate together. ✈️ We had looked into multiple countries, the U.S. included, however due to visa issues and same-sex marriage being illegal at the time, we took a chance on Norway where we both were fortunate to receive visas. Eun-sang with a work visa to continue his career as an engineer and myself with a student visa to continue my education and pursue a master's degree. 🇳🇴 After logistically getting to Norway, that was just the beginning as many curveballs came our way. Everything from the difficulty of retaining visas and finding work, to dealing with our differences and learning how to live together to many months apart at times due to work and the pandemic. And after all these challenges, we only came out stronger! 💪 But most importantly, during these past 10 years together we've created our own family, and being able to celebrate this with those closest to us is something we'll forever cherish. 💕 We cannot thank everyone enough for their unwavering support and for showering us with so much love. You all helped make our day a true representation of who we are as a couple. 🌈 And through all the stress of planning your own wedding, we were beyond blessed to have friends help us with every step along the way. Together we created something special. Together we've become a family! Thank you! 🙏

We're excited to share our family is growing! ✨ Eunsang and I have officially signed our contract to start the surrogacy process with @iarcsurrogacy! 🖋 Ever since we met 10 years ago, both of us expressed our hopes of becoming fathers one day. Fatherhood has always been on the radar in our relationship, but the journey isn't easy, especially navigating a surrogacy process. 👶 For many of our close friends, they know all too well the journey we've been on to finally get to this point. They know how committed and determined we've been to have our own family. 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 Looking back on this journey so far we've: 💰 Meticulously been saving money for the past five years 🏠 We purchased our apartment knowing it would be the perfect place to raise a kid 💻 We did hours upon hours of research to educated ourselves to find the right fit for us And although it seems like this is the beginning, we've been steadfast on creating our own family and we couldn't be more thrilled to buckle up and get on the rollercoaster ride that is surrogacy! 🎢 We know the next few years will be filled with all sorts of emotions, but we're so thankful to have found an agency that has been at the forefront of surrogacy in the U.S. And after our first talk with them, there was no doubt that IARC Surrogacy are not only exceptional professionals, but truly care for all their clients and surrogates. 🙏 And a special shout-out to @menhavingbabies for introducing use to IARC Surrogacy during a conference we attended in 2020. 👏 It will be a long but exciting journey, not to mention educational!   1. I made this Winter Suns Shawl as a shop sample for @knit1chgo… it took me far longer to knit than I would have liked, but it was mostly just down to a lack of motivation. The project turned out beautifully and my “mojo” is back! Haha. This shawl was designed by @olgajazzyknits and uses mosaic knitting to achieve the interesting colorwork. I knit this with @junipermoonfarm Patagonia for the main color and various shades of @brooklyntweed (Loft held double or Shelter) for the contrasts.   1. Ta da! Here is the finished blanket. All 32 blocks sewn together and edged. I really enjoyed this fun project as the little houses were perfectly sized for my commute. I was averaging about 3 houses every 2 days and then with all the sewing up and the massive 1100+ stitches picked up for the border it took me about 6 weeks to finish. Considering the last blanket I made took me a couple of years I was really pleased with this one. It's a gift for a friend of ours and I gave it to him last week (without the border) and he loved it! He lives in Copenhagen and the pattern is inspired by Copenhagen buildings. The pattern is called Copenhagen Building Blocks by @boy_knits_world and I knit it in nine different colours of the @picklesknits Pure Wool I got from @knitwithattitude. I haven't weighed it but I used less than 100g of each of the colours and just under 200g of the black. #CopenhagenBuildingBlocks #PicklesPureWool #knitting #knittedblanket

  2. I finished the Sunder Shawl I was knitting entirely in my hand spun yarn. These are all spinning experiments, random bits and fibres I’ve spun from the past year. Completely random but I love it. It’s nice to see how my spinning has progressed. I’m calling it the ‘Spunder’ Shawl 😜. The design is by @marinaskua. It is completely ribbed and has some fun angles in the middle. I went up a needle size to account for my lumpy handspun and it came out huge! Will look forward to wearing it in the cooler months. #knitting #sundershawl

  3. The balaclava is finished!! I loved knitting this. Such a quirky pattern with all the intarsia shapes. They look like little collaged pieces of paper. It’s also going to be really cosy when it gets really cold. I think I’m a balaclava convert! Pattern is Intarsia Balaclava by @anna_husemann and I used a mixture of DK and 4ply held double. #plyshintarsiabalaclava #balaclava #knitting

  1. I knit the entire 9 hour flight to see my family so I could split for the sleeves on this project! It’s my #yesteryearssweater by @maxtheknitter using @labienaimee Corrie Worsted in the colours Payne’s Grey and Rust. This pattern is from the Worsted book curated by Aimée from LBA and published by @laine_magazine. It’s my first colourwork jumper and I’m so proud of myself for getting through the yoke. I definitely need some improvement on my technique but practice makes perfect. The yarn is soft yet textured in my hand as I knit. I know it’s going to bloom beautifully and I love how the low contrast between the colours is playing together.   3. This is my #yesteryearssweater, my first finished piece of 2022 was my first colourwork jumper and also my Christmas Eve Cast on! I could talk all day about so many wonderful aspects of this jumper. The design by @maxtheknitter is visually striking and his attention to detail always astounds me. It is knit up in @labienaimee Corrie Worsted in the colour ways Paine’s Grey and Rust. This yarn is something really special, it was a complete joy to knit with and the fabric it has created has me reaching for it every other day. The colours, of course are fantastic with depth and nuance I can’t get enough of. I chose two colours with a low contrast this time.
