Grateful for men and women like him who have sacrificed so much for our country’s freedom. Fun fact, my wife’s grandpa Lee Burrows also served in the Navy and went on two tours in WW11 and the Korea war. Her Great Great Gpa Lee Burrows Sr served in the Navy and fought in WW1.   3. Tomorrow is my 36th birthday. It took me 35 years to find my way, but I am here now- healing my inner child from the terrible trauma I endured. For so long I rejected God, how could he let the things that happened to me happen! I was so angry for so long, plagued with resentment and bitterness which fueled my ability to play such a violent sport. Football was my life and nothing else mattered! It wasn’t until I got married and had a child of my own that I realized maybe my purpose was deeper, maybe my reason was to help others that my entire identity wasn’t in fact a football player. I am now also one year sober from alcohol, and my clarity became even clearer, I decided to take another step toward healing and gave my life to Jesus Christ. My heart is open and now I know I was lovable despite being neglected by my Mother, and never knowing who my real father was. Through God and the healing I have found, I have been able to forgive her and let go of the past. I truly am living my best life and I thank everyone who has been on this wild ride with me all these years, especially my Wife and daughters. Looking forward to continued healing and living the rest of my life imperfectly through God.   3. Today marks 444 days of no drugs or alcohol except for some weed here and there I had many thoughts on whether I would share this publicly or not. I was going to do it at one year because it felt like such a huge accomplishment but I didn’t. I won’t lie it feels pretty weird lol. I’ve seen a number friends that are both in and out of the industry share their journey in sobriety.. Because of their vulnerability, it inspired me to share my experience. I felt I needed to share especially if you’re considering it or on the edge of falling back into the loop 🔁 It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my life. I’m able to give myself more grace, patience, and kindness in my day to day. If anyone is struggling or even if you aren’t struggling and just want to have a clear mind, you aren’t alone. Talk to your people and have an open conversations about it. You never know who might feel the same way, it can be life changing. Sadly I missed out on the UTMB ticket by one place. I’m a bit bummed that I came so close only to fall short BUT that was a fantastic season opener. Many more races to come this year! Thank you to @desertratstrailrunningfestival for putting on such a well curated event. Everything ran very smoothly, the course was beautiful, aid stations were well stocked and everyone involved from volunteers to fellow runners were all so friendly. Also huge thank you to @jacquedmoore crewing for me 💕 couldn’t have done it without you.

Not so far away from the main highway that it’s hard to reach, yet tucked away just enough to keep the large crowds away. I don’t remember exactly which evening of the week I visited this beauty, but I essentially had the whole place to myself. I spent a good couple of hours exploring around the area while waiting for golden hour (really in Iceland it was golden three hours 😂).   2. When I return to Iceland for another round of adventure, I think it would be so cool to rent a high clearance off-road vehicle. The Highlands have to be one of my favorite spots for photography and exploration, and currently the only means of getting back there are by foot (which would be a very very long trip), by bus, or by off-road vehicles. The river crossings and volcanic dirt roads are not forgiving. This is a photo I took with @davidgayphotography and @andrewdcottle during our first evening staying in the Highlands base camp. We hiked up to a vantage point with views of the one and only road that accesses this campground. It’s one of the most stunning bus rides I’ve ever taken, as it weaves between volcanos, across alien-like landscapes, and through multi-colored mountains!   3. Today, I am retiring from the NHL. I keep pinching myself. 18 years in the NHL, the greatest league in the world. I dreamt of just playing one game as a kid in Minnesota. To have played over 1000 games, lifted the Stanley Cup, been an All Star, played in the Olympics and made some of my best friends; I am profoundly grateful of everything this game has given me. I would have signed up for this career a million times over. To say I have been blessed would be a massive understatement. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. Winning the Stanley Cup for this city was my highest honor. I’ve been lucky enough to be in Denver for 15 years and I will always live here. It’s home.   2. After visiting all 50 states and all the US 63 national parks, I I still believe the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is the most underrated part of our country. I actually grew up vacationing at Michigan lakeshores and spent my college years living in Michigan. Although, back then I didn’t really appreciate it. All I wanted to do was move west and live in the mountains. Now that I’m out west with mountains, I often miss summers on the water in Michigan. If you havent visited Michigan, I highly recommend adding it to your list. Not only is the UP paradise, but Michigans beaches and quaint towns are incredible.
