  3. Today marks 444 days of no drugs or alcohol except for some weed here and there I had many thoughts on whether I would share this publicly or not. I was going to do it at one year because it felt like such a huge accomplishment but I didn’t. I won’t lie it feels pretty weird lol. I’ve seen a number friends that are both in and out of the industry share their journey in sobriety.. Because of their vulnerability, it inspired me to share my experience. I felt I needed to share especially if you’re considering it or on the edge of falling back into the loop 🔁 It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my life. Not so far away from the main highway that it’s hard to reach, yet tucked away just enough to keep the large crowds away. I don’t remember exactly which evening of the week I visited this beauty, but I essentially had the whole place to myself.   2. When I return to Iceland for another round of adventure, I think it would be so cool to rent a high clearance off-road vehicle. The Highlands have to be one of my favorite spots for photography and exploration, and currently the only means of getting back there are by foot (which would be a very very long trip), by bus, or by off-road vehicles. The river crossings and volcanic dirt roads are not forgiving. This is a photo I took with @davidgayphotography and @andrewdcottle during our first evening staying in the Highlands base camp. We hiked up to a vantage point with views of the one and only road that accesses this campground. It’s one of the most stunning bus rides I’ve ever taken, as it weaves between volcanos, across alien-like landscapes, and through multi-colored mountains!   3. Today, I am retiring from the NHL. I keep pinching myself. 18 years in the NHL, the greatest league in the world. I dreamt of just playing one game as a kid in Minnesota. To have played over 1000 games, lifted the Stanley Cup, been an All Star, played in the Olympics and made some of my best friends; I am profoundly grateful of everything this game has given me. I would have signed up for this career a million times over. To say I have been blessed would be a massive understatement. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. What an honor to retire as an Av. The Avs will always be a huge piece of me. I came to Denver as 22 year old kid and I retire as a 37 year old…kid. I will always be an Av at heart. What this city, organization, & fan base has meant to me I will never take for granted. The amount of love I feel from all the fans is incredible to me. Winning the Stanley Cup for this city was my highest honor. I’ve been lucky enough to be in Denver for 15 years and I will always live here. It’s home. Sadly I missed out on the UTMB ticket by one place. I’m a bit bummed that I came so close only to fall short BUT that was a fantastic season opener. Many more races to come this year! Everything ran very smoothly, the course was beautiful, aid stations were well stocked and everyone involved from volunteers to fellow runners were all so friendly.
