  3. September and October have been a whirlwind of months in general. A full time teaching job, running a full time business, weddings every weekend, shoots nearly every night, finding out I was pregnant, being exhausted/nauseous but working through it all, and doctors appointments, many many appointments that lead to losing our sweet baby at 12 weeks. We have been here twice before, but it never gets any easier. The sting of my other two babies had faded, but having another miscarriage brought back every single feeling and then some. Guilt. Shame. Sadness. Defeat. My own body failing me. Not being able to hold back tears at the most random times of the day. (Grief hits you like that.) And love, immense love for someone I would never get to rock or hold or watch rhett smother in kisses. My heart grew to love another human but now that love has nowhere to go but grief and tears and ‘what if’s’. I will always wonder who they would have been. I sit and imagine my lap overflowing with 4 babies wanting to all snuggle with their momma at the same time. Would they look like their blonde haired blue eyed brother who has every mannerism like his dad or would they have their dads dark features and a heart like their Momma’s? We’ve been here before and my experiences tell me we may be here again. But they also tell me we will be ok. The times when my heart aches are followed by a ‘mama come here’ in the other room or a tight squeeze of my husbands hand without having to say anything else. Or hearing another woman’s struggle after having no idea her heart aches for babies too. The one that hurts in silence, the forced smile out in public when your babies are all you can think about, the one that feels alone, and is scared to try again too. We’re gonna be ok. Also a huge thank you to all of my clients for just being the absolute best. Even when I’ve had a tornado of a couple months behind the scenes, their kindness and just how great of people they all are kept me going. 💕

  3. Story time. We spotted this buck right away at first light on accident. We watched him for an hour trying to decide if we wanted to notch the tag on opening day. He disappeared over the hill so we decided to get to a better vantage point to see if we could study him a little more before making the stalk. After several minutes of @kory_peters telling me to stop being a prima-donna and pull the trigger, we decided to begin the stalk. We got within 300 yards and the buck along with his 6 girlfriends knew something was up. I set up, pulled the trigger and he dropped in his tracks. Amazing hunt. Amazing buck. Amazing day.   3. For anyone who knows me or has followed me this year would know that I’ve had one of the toughest years for bowhunting mule deer that I’ve ever had just trying to find a respectable buck. After all the hours and miles hiked, mixed with a lot of bad luck I’m extremely proud of myself for not giving up when I wanted to, and I’m proud of everyone who’s helped me stick with it all season and I couldn’t be happier with this buck, and to have my mom and dad there to watch it all go down makes it that much more special to me! Bowhunting mature mule deer on closing weekend of rifle season is one of the toughest hunts I think any bow hunter can do, and all the failure made this buck mean so much more to me than any goal I’ve accomplished yet. I didn’t know what you looked like, I wasn’t expecting that!” We laughed and laughed, but I realized, wow, I need to show my face a little more often! -I am Caitlin Slaba and I am 29 years old -I was a teacher for 6 years - when I hit my burn out, I hit it harddd - I have been doing photography for about 8 years, but this year has been my first time doing it full-time. Some things about me: -I have a cat named Grandpa who I am absolutely obsessed with #crazycatlady -I drink Starbucks almost every day- I wish I was joking - sorry bank account and sorry nervous system -I love to travel with my friends - unpopular opinion: Nashville is too loud ya’ll like turn down the volume for 5 seconds -I changed my personal instagram name to caity marie a few years ago so my students couldn’t find me, and now when I meet people in person and they call me Caity I think it’s weird but it’s also like.. I did it to myself .. After many trials and errors, I have completely found my identity in Jesus Christ, which has given me the freedom and security to be the woman He designed me to be. My friend once told me I was a “colorful person” so I am going to use that to explain why photography is my passion - I love big - I laugh big (and also v ugly) and oh my goodness I loveeee making people feel good. If I can make you feel as good and as beautiful and as wonderful and as kind as Jesus has made me feel, then that’s a win in my books.   3. At the beginning of this year I was still (after a year) pleading with God to save a marriage that was so broken. That prayer had been continuously answered with a no & that didn’t change this year. He didn’t answer my prayer the way I had asked him to, but I fully believe He answered the way I needed him to. I’ve grown so much this last year. And it’s growth that only could have come from a long, hard season. I have pleaded and contended with the Lord and in doing that he has completely changed the desires of my heart. He has shown me that contentment doesn’t come when all my prayer requests are answered with a yes BUT when I am following & in true relationship with HIM (even IF everything else around me looks nothing how I hoped or expected) He didn’t restore my marriage this year, but he is restoring ME. Looking ahead to 2025 & EXCITED for all that He has in store.
