So many challenges hit us right in the middle of filming - and instead of shying away from it and keeping it out of the public eye, we said bring it on. We want the world to know exactly what it’s like to face the stresses and pressures of a real life farm & ranch (among other businesses) while battling with personal challenges, relationship struggles - and the raw and vulnerable moments that everyone takes on in this rollercoaster of life but so few want to admit - and even fewer sign up to showcase to a national audience. In the end, this Season finale encapsulates what our life has been over the last couple years - so much good and so many fun moments, but some insanely tough challenges all coinciding at the exact same time. Through it all - the one constant we know we can cling to is that we’ve got each other to stay strong in the toughest of moments, to carry and uplift one another when we feel like we can’t do it alone. We’re one big family here @mcbeefarms - and we feel like we’ve added thousands, if not millions to that family with every viewer that’s tuned in week over week, that’s supported us through purchasing our meats or apparel, that’s cheered us on in the comments of our posts - in seeing us out in public and saying hello, or by quietly sending up thoughts, prayers and well wishes.   2. I love that the internet generally ignores Gen X. We have fewer beefs and more aged flannel. We’re a small group of latchkey kids just trying to navigate aging parents and worsening eyesight. But one thing my generation seems to struggle with, unlike no other, is diet culture. And I’m specifically referencing white women in their 40s and 50s. We’ve carried the weight of thin for so long that we don’t know how to lose it. And it may not even be about knowing how. Perhaps Gen X’s resistance to the Millennial/Gen Z move towards body positivity and fat phobia condemnation means accepting a greater tragedy. If I accept I’ve been trapped in the claws of diet culture for 30 years, then it means I wasted a lot of my one wild and precious life. When those younger call us out on our obsession with pounds and inches, we flail. We all caps about health and BMI. We call them spoiled and sensitive, rather than pause and recognize the way a talk show host pulling a wagon of fat may have imprinted on us in the worst ways. I’ve spent too much of my life adding up points, subtracting carbs, and trying to believe Halos taste like Häagen-Dazs. I’ve spent years trying to climb to the top of a food pyramid in hopes I’d find a view of the promised land where my apple body becomes a pear. But this apple body is good. God told me so. My therapist told me so. My primary care doctor told me so. Now it’s time for me to tell you so. And if you don’t agree, that’s your weight to carry. 📸: @chappyphoto

  3. I’m pro-life. For a long time, I thought abortion was a political problem. I voted accordingly thinking it was an issue that should outweigh all others. Twice, I eagerly voted for a Republican who served as President. He worked with a majority Republican senate and house for almost all his years in office. The Supreme Court during his presidency was a majority of justices appointed by Republican Presidents. I believed A + B would equal C, but C never came. Abortion was legalized while a Republican was in office. The deadliest 5-yr span during our history for the unborn was 1985-1990, during the Reagan and Bush administrations. There were almost 1 million fewer abortions in 2015 than in 1990. When the Supreme Court preserved Roe v. Wade in 1992, the key votes came from two justices nominated by Reagan and one chosen by Bush. The idea that I would hang all my pro-life hopes on any president and the Supreme Court has little historical evidence to support it. I now know abortion is a Gospel issue. Those types of matters are difficult to legislate. To me, pro-life cannot only mean anti-abortion. My vote at the local, state, and federal level must take into account as many pro-life platforms as possible. This includes things like economic equality, access to affordable healthcare, advocacy for racial justice, paid family leave, ending the death penalty and criminal justice reform, meaningful policy change regarding the care of the earth, and discrimination-free voting rights. This is why I am pro-life and voting for Joe Biden. He does not wholly represent my political perspective, but he’s my choice to best represent a consistent ethic of life.   1. How I got into Aesthetic Dermatology! ‌ I started as a nurse on the renal/tele floor. 6 months after graduation, I applied for grad school. Once clinicals started, I needed a bit more flexibility and I moved to the float pool- I absolutely loved it! I went wherever staffing was short that day and did everything from rehab to the ICU. My last year on the floor was 2020 and most of that year I was a nurse on our hospital’s covid floor. ‌ My masters program allowed for 100 hours of clinical at a specialty site. I asked my dermatologist if he took students during my annual skin check 😂 Luckily he said yes and that was my in! I was very upfront during those clinical hours that dermatology is what I wanted to do and on the last day of that rotation, he told me to reach out once I passed boards. ‌ 6 months later I started working as a medical derm NP. During that time, I started dating Davis, who lived in Dallas at the time. As our relationship progressed, we discussed ending up in Dallas, but I stipulated that he had to move to KC first so we could make sure we worked together not only living in the same city, but living together as well 😂 ‌ When it was time to start thinking about the move to Dallas, the only place I wanted to work was Skin Pharm. I’d been a follower for years and watched the company grow- something told me this was where I had to be. @laurenzaucha_pa and I had been internet friends for a few years at this point and she was my Skin Pharm North Star ⭐️ We chatted, I applied and a few months later I was an employee of the company I’d always dreamed of working for. ‌ I feel lucky to have been a nurse in so many different settings, all of which ultimately led me to what I’m most passionate about. If you want to get into aesthetic derm or dermatology in general I can’t stress this enough- it’s about connections.   2. 16 years a ago, a little kitten stumbled out of a bush at O’Charleys, meowing as loud as she could (a trait she’d never lose). We were in Illinois visiting my grandma and went to get some lunch. Like any 11 year old would do, I asked if we could keep her and, of course, my parents said no. Once we were seated in the restaurant, I spent the first few minutes sulking. To this day, I still can’t explain it, but I just knew she and I were supposed to be together. We were seated in a booth with a window that went almost all the way to the ground with a little ledge on the outside. Next thing I knew, little Charlie had jumped up on the ledge and was looking into the window at me. After that, it took little convincing that she was supposed to come home with us. ‌ The last 16 years have been nothing but wonderful with her. I always said- Charlie’s the cat you introduce to people who say they don’t like cats. She converted every one she met. It wasn’t uncommon when people came over for the first thing they said to be “Where’s Charlie?” ‌ She was perfect. I simply cannot stress that enough- perfect. She was gentle, sassy, delicate and embodied the term “luxurious”. ‌ I don’t really know what to do without her. I look around and see little Charlie hairs. Her foot path is still etched in the stairs. The shape of her body where she laid in her bed is still present. The void she leaves behind is crippling. ‌ Her last moments were spent in my arms. As she laid her little head down for the last time, I felt so grateful to have been part of her life. What a sweet, smart, beautiful girl she was. I can’t wait to see her again. ‌

This means that manufacturers are not required to prove the safety or effectiveness of baby lotions before they are sold to consumers on the shelf. The problem is that once they hit the shelf, companies rely on people assuming that this means they’re regulated and safe. Only, that’s far from the truth. The truth is, you’re the only advocate you have when it comes to the safety of products used on your family because there are no true regulations for baby products on the shelf. Here are some frightening things you probably didn’t know: 🧴1. Ingredients: The FDA does not have the authority to approve or evaluate individual ingredients (except for color additives) in baby lotions before they are marketed. Companies can use almost any ingredient in their products as long as it doesn’t make the product adulterated or misbranded. 🧴2. Labeling: While the FDA does require accurate labeling, they don’t require companies to list all possible contaminants or impurities that might be present in baby lotions, which can be concerning if the products contain potentially harmful substances. 🧴 3. Testing: There is no requirement for companies to conduct specific safety tests on their baby lotions. Instead, the responsibility is on the manufacturers to ensure their products are safe for use. 🧴4. Recalls: The FDA doesn’t have the authority to mandate a recall of cosmetic products, including baby lotions. If a product is found to be unsafe, the FDA can only request a voluntary recall by the manufacturer. 🧴5. Fragrance and Trade Secrets: Companies can list “fragrance” as an ingredient without disclosing the specific chemicals used, some of which may be allergens or irritants, and this includes baby lotions. This regulatory gap leaves much of the responsibility for ensuring product safety on the manufacturers themselves, which can lead to concerns about the overall safety of baby lotions and other cosmetic products. That means it’s up to the company to actually care about your baby. And, we do.

As you guys probably know my hair has been a challenge ever since I got it cut and bleached. I finally figured out what to do! More on that later 😉⁣ ⁣ I have to say I have been really loving these products. Especially their Custard! It gives me a really nice cast and I can use a lot of it. Some custards are too heavy for me and I can only use a tiny bit. I have found their products to be very hydrating and not heavy. Which is so important to me!! ⁣ ⁣ ℍ𝕠𝕨 𝕀 𝕦𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕞⁣ ⁣ Shower:⁣ ~I applied their Mango Hemp Restorative Hair Masque for 15 mins to wet hair⁣ ~I used their sulfate free Clarifying Mint Shampoo (it smells so fresh and exactly like mint. It doesn’t strip my hair at all)⁣ ~I applied their Soothing Mint Conditioner and let it sit for a few mins and detangled. I couldn’t believe how easily my brush slid through my massive tangles. Seriously it was so easy 🙏🏻🙏🏻⁣ ⁣ Styling:⁣ *I squeezed a little water out of my hair but not very much. I wanted my hair to be soaking wet!! I was bent over most of my Styler application. ⁣ ~ I used about a quarter sized amount of the Aloe Hibiscus leave in. I glazed and scrunched it in.⁣ *I sprayed my hair with a little water⁣ ~I took a small glob of the Coconut Avocado Curl Defining Custard and glazed and scrunched it in.⁣ *sprayed my hair with water and applied another layer of the Custard.⁣ *I then used a giant glob of my Eco Professional Styling Gel. I sprayed my hair with more water. I stood upright and distributed more gel carefully flipping my hair from side to side and scrunching⁣ ~ I went in with another layer of Custard while I was upright. ⁣ *I plopped for about 30 mins. And then very very lightly scrunched with the shirt I had used for plopping. ⁣ *I diffused for about 45 mins and smastered with some Pantene volume mousse. I allowed the rest to air dry. Then Ta-da 💁🏼‍♀️💜⁣

The other day I decided to mix some of my gels together in a bowl before applying it. As I was doing this I thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if I mixed all of my gels together 😧⁣ ⁣ I was pretty scared! But, man oh man my results were pretty good! If you watch the video in my highlights titled “gel jam” you can see my full results and I talk about it a little more!! Not only was my hair light and bouncy but it was super defined. It took way less time to style and it shockingly dried really quickly!! Hallelujah 🙏🏻🙌🏻⁣ ⁣ I am definitely going to play around with this more!! It’s the closes I’ve come to a wash and go routine! I was going to call it Gel Jam but that’s already a hashtag. Do you think I should still use just use #geljam? Or maybe #stylerjam?
