  3. As I spent the last week in time of reflection, a wave of emotions have continued to hit me.. I thought about a little kid that bled black & gold from a very early age sitting on those front door steps - Where all he wanted to do was live up to his brothers and all they accomplished. I reminisced about my battles in high school, where every single coach in the country overlooked me, but one. I had flashbacks to days where my body felt defeated. Where I didn’t think I could give more, and then somehow I found strength to continue. I remembered the game winners, where I never cared about my own individual statistics, that all I wanted to do was win. I looked back on my Dad, and his life beforehand. How hard he worked for us to have the life that we have now. And how much I’ve looked up to him and wanted to be like him, whether I showed it or not. I thought about all the hate... Majority of it I endured and enjoyed, in hopes to make rivalries better. Small portion would get to me time to time, however God kept me grounded. He kept me believing and trusting in that dream I always wanted to have as a little kid. I thought about my family. I cherished every single moment I’ve had with them along this journey. To see my brothers have their own kids in the stands watch me, can’t even be put into words.. More importantly, I cherished the bad times when they were there for me. There were times they probably didn’t even know I was going through something, but those hugs meant more than they could ever know. They had me recognize the little details in life mean the most of all. Thanks for giving that kid on the front door steps a chance. He thanked God for it every single day. I hope I provided some sort of joy and excitement to Iowa families through these years. Hopefully there’s a few kids out there that were inspired and dream to put that Iowa jersey on, too. Because it was truly a dream come true for me. - JBO #3 ❤️
