First you’ll reach some concrete steps, then to a limestone ledge in the cliff, and lastly to a metal staircase that spirals to the cave above! 🥾 Driving through Placitas (where the cave is located) you will encounter a bit of a tight, uneven gravel road for maybe 3 miles, definitely suggest a high clearance vehicle! Or at-least drive nice and slow 😅 Highly recommend bringing a friend or a best friend 🦮 Proper hiking attire and a flashlight is a must! The cave is dark dark 😳 Not sure exactly how far back it goes, but if you go deep enough there are parts where you start crawling so be careful! But, we don't get pads until the fall and we need to reintroduce a way to get comfortable with the physicality of football, while making it competive, safe and transferable.   3. I'm not saying drilling is always the answer when it comes to speed. And I'm definitely not saying it's a replacement for top end, max effort sprinting. But it can help. So long as you're mindful of posture, rhythm, timing and cadence. Everyone will move a little different, but there are certain shapes and patterns we all make as humans when it comes to lifting and running that we can use as a reference point. Start with these drills before an acceleration (short sprint day), to help groove striking point on the foot and to get the most out of that lower leg. Some athletes will insist on keeping their foot underneath their hip during acceleration and they need to chill on that. Keep the foot out in front during drilling to promote a low heel recovery as you're coming out the gate. Next, do drills that create horizontal force and displacement, because you'll need it to leverage the ground to aid in driving you forward. Fancy speak for, throw your hips out toward the direction you want to go. Start here before we break out the parachutes and obstacle courses.
