  1. Jehovah Nissi. He is our banner, protector, deliverer. Yesterday was @abbie_masengale 21st birthday. Last year her birthday landed the day after my dad unexpectedly passed away, so this year we were determined to celebrate her and had planned a day trip to NYC. We’ve been vacationing in the Poconos, so we decided to take a 1.5 hour bus ride to NYC to avoid the stress of parking in the city. We were just 10 minutes into our drive to the park & ride station and were on a 2 lane road with cement barrier on our right with a river on the other side headed toward a tunnel. Another vehicle emerged from the tunnel headed toward us in our lane. Mel slowed down and tried to get over as close as he could without hitting the barrier to avoid a head on collision. The other car hit the drivers side all the way down and sent us spinning in circles. The day before when we were going different places there were a lot of wrecks. I literally thought to myself that I was more terrified of a car accident and would rather be in a plane any day of the week. I asked myself “what do you think you would do if you were in a wreck?” “I would say the name of Jesus.” As we were spinning yesterday, Holy Spirit reminded me of my question…”what did you say you would do in this situation?” So, I said “Jesus!” The car came to a stop shortly after facing the opposite direction. People were stopping to check on us. I looked around our car so in shock to check on my family, mom, and Grace. The air bags had all been deployed on the drivers side from front to back. No broken glass - everyone was okay. We all got out of the car on the passengers side which had only minor scrapes because in our spinning God kept us from hitting that cement barrier. We walked to the drivers side and saw a destroyed vehicle - the entire back wheel and tire were across the road. The other driver had some minor injuries but was okay too. We spent a few hours in the ER getting checked out. A few concussions, bruises and sore ribs and knees, but nothing broken and no cuts. Yesterday wasn’t what we had planned. Our fun day celebrating Abbie was ruined, but it was also a day that we stand in awe of God and His protection.

  2. I put on makeup, dressed in clothes other than sweatpants (although still drawstring pants), curled my hair, and ventured out in the elements for the first time in 5 weeks. I attempted boots with a slight heel and quickly swapped them out for sneakers. My face definitely shows some discomfort 😂 but it was so worth it to be with my @summitpachurch family tonight and celebrate the birth of our Savior. AND, I’m so thankful to have my mom, my little sister & her family with us this year! First time in 6 years we have spent Christmas Eve together ❤️🎄

  3. Early this morning my Dad went to be with Jesus. Yesterday he went in for surgery to relieve him of the tremendous pain he had been experiencing in his neck. The surgery itself was successful but then he experienced complications and he never woke up. I won’t get into all of the details now, but I will say that the doctors did everything they could and were incredible. Daddy is no longer in pain and is worshipping at the feet of Jesus. I’m grateful for that. We are in shock and our hearts ache tremendously. My mom, my sisters, our families, and I are so grateful for the prayers and tremendous support we’ve received so far. Mom and I listened to the song “Firm Foundation” by Cody Carnes on the way home early this morning and it reminded us that we do have hope and when everything else is shaken, Christ is our firm foundation.
