  2. One day your engaged, planning your wedding and talking to realtors to buy a home… and the next your single and moving in with your mom. I wanted marriage. I wanted to buy a house. I wanted to even have kids. I wanted all of it, more than anything. Every single part of me wanted it to work out. But sometimes wanting it and sometimes love just aren’t enough. There is this quote that I’ve always loved but hits differently right now : “when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” It took me quite a few times but I don’t regret it. I chose to trust, to fight for & to unconditionally love someone that just wasn’t capable of holding it. Now I’m having the courage to choose myself. To let go. To Leave. To end my 7 year relationship & and my engagement and to start over. The spectrum of emotions I’ve gone through the past 9 days are all over the place, but what I will say is I feel more empowered and relieved than I did yesterday. I’ve also never known love or support or friendship they way I know it now. The way my people have shown up for me, held me, helped me pack up all my shit and move last minute when I was in a puddle, made me eat, made me laugh, got me flowers, gifts & helped me process is something I’ll just never be able to repay or forget. I’m so fucking grateful I have such amazing people to love me in this season. This is really fresh. I’m figuring it out day by day. It’s still not fully processed. But I’ve always loved being vulnerable with where I’m at. Showing up on social media for me is an outlet to self expresss. To create art through the most emotional part of me. So that’s exactly how I want to show up. Thank you for being here, for supporting me & here’s to a whole new beginning. ❤️

  1. Floating the Truckee River to @foodtruckfridays is one of my favorite summer activities in Reno! Both floating the river and food truck events can be a little overwhelming, but when combined with a good plan, they make for the best Friday ever. Here’s how I’ve got it down to a science: 🏞️ My floating essentials: a good tube, portable inflator, shoes with a back strap, an old hat, sunglasses, dry bag, sunscreen, waterproof phone case, water, and a ziplock to hold cards, cash, keys, bandaids, etc. 🚗 Park your car near Idlewild Dr. x Hunter Lake Dr. (by the skate park). This ensures little to no traffic on your way out of Idlewild by heading south on Hunter Lake Dr. after you’re done at Food Truck Fridays. 🚙 Take an Uber from your car at Idlewild Park to Mayberry Park where you’ll start your float. ⏱️ If you can swing it, get on the river around 2pm. This means you’ll get to Idlewild Park around 4ish which is when FTF starts and isn’t super busy. 🔚 When should you exit the river? Depends on where you park! I usually note the apartments by Ivan Sack Park and know it won’t be long after that to get out. You’ll usually see people hanging out on the river banks and when in doubt, ask them where you are :) if you see the Booth Street bridge, you’ve gone too far! 🛟 Having a car at Idlewild isn’t necessary, but it sure makes it nice to get out of the river, drop your deflated tubes off, change clothes, and grab a picnic blanket before hitting the food trucks. Hence why this plan is so good ;) 🍔 Here are a few of my favorite trucks in town that are often at @foodtruckfridays: @carolinakitchenbbq (pulled pork Mac n cheese fries) @thepotlucktruck (elote wonton tacos) @silverstatepieco @nolasliders @bali_express2023 @smoregasm 🍺 Floating the Truckee River is dangerous! Drinking alcohol while floating makes it even more so. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with a sober float, but do you. Regardless of what you consume, please be mindful to keep garbage out of our beautiful river! ❤️ ⛈️ Check the forecast before you go! Never know when you’ll get caught in one of our summer storms. Although, they’re pretty magical and don’t last very long ✨
