  2. 3 years | Alive Day I was getting airlifted off the mountain at about this time. I remember a sense of peace, knowing that everything was going to be okay, but also a thought of “C’mon God, you gotta change this asap.” Looking back, my legs didn’t start moving with a snap of my fingers, but everything did change just like I asked for. I became kinder. I became humbler. I became more grateful. I saw the simple blessings in the everyday. No my legs haven’t moved (yet), but the change I asked for 3 years ago happened, and it was better than the one I had imagined. A few months before my accident I had stuck onto this verse that I felt had some deeper meaning in my life. I don’t know why, but I felt like I connected with the words a bit different than others I had heard before. “The heart of a man plans his ways, but the Lord establishes his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9 As I reflect back on the accident on this day every year, I am reminded of that verse. I can physically not take a step, but I don’t need to for my life to be complete. I have the best family on my one side, a community of friends and neighbors on the other, and a big God looking down guiding it all. How lucky am I?

  3. 4 years. December 27th will always be a day to reflect for me. My life changed drastically on that day four years ago. I am grateful for a lot of things in my life. People, places, experiences… but today I’m thankful for the little things I may have taken for granted before the accident. Today, I’m thankful for the breath of air in my lungs. I’m thankful for a clear, sharp mind. I’m thankful for strong hands and arms that have taken on a new responsibility. I’m thankful that I woke up four years ago and decided I wasn’t done yet. I’m reminded of a recent conversation I had with a friend, “Your life might look different than what you thought it would, but different might be exactly what you needed.” Four years ago I couldn’t shave my own face. I couldn’t sit up in a bed for longer than a minute. Whatever you’re going though, keep going. What a life. I sure am glad God gave me a chance to keep living it. Cheers, friends. #AliveDay #LIVEday

The first location was for makeup, and our first few scenes, and the second ended up being where I got to say “yes” to my forever with so many of our people there by our side.
