  2. 3 years | Alive Day I was getting airlifted off the mountain at about this time. I remember a sense of peace, knowing that everything was going to be okay, but also a thought of “C’mon God, you gotta change this asap.” Looking back, my legs didn’t start moving with a snap of my fingers, but everything did change just like I asked for. I became kinder. I became humbler. I became more grateful. I saw the simple blessings in the everyday. No my legs haven’t moved (yet), but the change I asked for 3 years ago happened, and it was better than the one I had imagined. A few months before my accident I had stuck onto this verse that I felt had some deeper meaning in my life. I don’t know why, but I felt like I connected with the words a bit different than others I had heard before. “The heart of a man plans his ways, but the Lord establishes his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9 As I reflect back on the accident on this day every year, I am reminded of that verse. I can physically not take a step, but I don’t need to for my life to be complete. I have the best family on my one side, a community of friends and neighbors on the other, and a big God looking down guiding it all. How lucky am I?

  3. 4 years. December 27th will always be a day to reflect for me. My life changed drastically on that day four years ago. I am grateful for a lot of things in my life. People, places, experiences… but today I’m thankful for the little things I may have taken for granted before the accident. Today, I’m thankful for the breath of air in my lungs. I’m thankful for a clear, sharp mind. I’m thankful for strong hands and arms that have taken on a new responsibility. I’m thankful that I woke up four years ago and decided I wasn’t done yet. I’m reminded of a recent conversation I had with a friend, “Your life might look different than what you thought it would, but different might be exactly what you needed.” Four years ago I couldn’t shave my own face. I couldn’t sit up in a bed for longer than a minute. Whatever you’re going though, keep going. What a life. I sure am glad God gave me a chance to keep living it. Cheers, friends. #AliveDay #LIVEday

What I see: A woman with a bold personality who would give the shirt off her back to anyone A woman that is not afraid to speak what is on her mind and stand up for the people she cares about A woman who made mistakes and owned up to them, wanting to be better for herself and others A woman who has the kindest heart, who knows what she deserves, and who will not settle for less A woman who accepts criticism with grace and respect and recognizes growth opportunities The list goes on. And don’t even get me started about the 15 women who weren’t there and deserve all of the recognition in the world. 🥹♥️ None of us are perfect, and we will agree to disagree in many situations. But I love it. No one needs to see eye to eye in every situation, and damn right should you be able to speak up for yourself and others when you don’t.
