  2. Anyone else feel this way??? Why Polite Women Lose Power as They Age…. Here’s the uncomfortable truth no one prepared women for: As men age, they’re allowed to become more direct. As women age, we’re expected to become more pleasant. We’re wiser—but quieter. More experienced—but less confrontational. More valuable—but somehow less visible. And when we resist that expectation, we’re told we’ve changed. No….we really haven’t…we’re just now waking up to the fact that we need to speak up and start telling our TRUTH! The REAL truth! We’ve just stopped cooperating. It doesn’t work for us anymore. It really never did.. we just thought it did… because society told us that’s what “NICE” girls do! Right?!! WRONG! The High Road Was Never Neutral “Take the high road” sounds noble—until you notice who’s always asked to take it. You???? It’s rarely said to people who cause harm. It’s said to the ones expected to absorb it. The rude behavior, the gossip, the passive-aggressive digs, all swallowed so no one calls you dramatic. “Taking the high road” is just code for “don’t make a scene”, even when someone just did at YOUR expense. It let’s them skate by untouched, and unaccountable while you’re expected to clean up the mess with your grace. The high road isn’t neutral…. It’s a PR shield for rude behavior and a muzzle for the women they wound. So let’s call it what it is: harm wrapped in social etiquette, weaponized against the ones who were never supposed to fight back. The high road doesn’t resolve conflict. It defers accountability. It allows bad behavior to continue uninterrupted—while the woman who was hurt is praised for her restraint. That’s not maturity. That’s emotional labor with a halo. This is WHY Polite Women Lose Power! Power isn’t taken from women. It’s surrendered—slowly, politely, and with applause. Every time a woman:    •   lets something slide to keep the peace    •   doesn’t say what hurt her    •   minimizes her reaction to avoid being “too much”    •   stays quiet so others don’t feel uncomfortable She teaches people exactly how far they can go. And they listen. This is the Double Bind No One wants to talk about… https://piriegrossman.substack.com

  2. Hey, it’s me! Shayne! I am so happy you are here🥂✨ An introduction post feels so long overdue…so here it is, straight from the heart! My photography blends the best of both worlds: classic, framed portraits that will stand the test of time and candid, unscripted moments that capture the raw emotions of your wedding day. While I love capturing the in-between laughter, hugs, teary-eyed glances, and raw emotion of your day, I also believe in the timeless importance of a beautifully framed, smiling at the camera portrait. The kind that future generations will hold on to and cherish. Photography has always been my way of holding on to the moments that matter most. When I was little, my dad handed me his old film camera, and I was hooked. I took photos of everything!! Family vacations, my baby dolls, my mom cooking in the kitchen. Those photos weren’t perfect, but they were mine. Proof of the life I was living, the people I loved, and the memories I never wanted to forget. Years later, when my mom was diagnosed with cancer, my perspective shifted. I saw just how precious every moment truly is. How we cling to photographs when time feels too short. When you look back at smiley photos when times were happier. That’s why I do what I do. Because I know, firsthand, how much these moments will mean years from now. Beyond capturing beautiful images, my heart is to be a peaceful presence on your wedding day. Someone who helps the day flow effortlessly, so you can soak in every second. I’ll be there to cheer you on, fix your veil, hype you up, and preserve the moments you’ll hold onto forever. I’ll help make your day flow exactly how you envision it, so you can be fully present in every moment. And more than anything, I truly love celebrating alongside you and capturing every little moment that makes your wedding day so special!

  2. We thought we had more time. We thought we could keep it at bay. But cancer is unpredictable, wild, and it lives on its own timeline, answering to no one. A few years ago, I walked through these emergency room doors and learned that Aaron had cancer. His first tumor had formed. I stood there in disbelief. The strongest man I know. The best person. The best dad. It felt deeply unfair in a way that shook me to my bones. This man has devoted his life to baking bread with his own two hands for his community. He is the ultimate giver, provider, and the calm in every storm. I could barely understand what the doctors were saying. My face flooded with tears, shock, disbelief. My whole world shattered in a couple of seconds. I felt helpless. That first tumor in 2021 forever changed how I felt about a hospital waiting room. I hadn’t known how close death could sit beside life. I developed a fear I never imagined possible. I didn’t know what our future would look like. We were just at the beginning of building our bakery. How could I do it all alone? And then my biggest fear…it happened again. I heard Aaron groaning in pain after an 18-hour shift at the shop. The familiarity sent a chill through my body. I knew something was very wrong. I rushed him to the emergency room. Same long hallway. Same waiting room. Same doors. I prayed it was something else, anything else. I pleaded with God all over again. I looked over at Aaron, trying to hold my tears back. The CT scan was unmistakable the cancer was back, and it was big. Walking those steps beside him took every ounce of courage I had. I remembered what it felt like to collapse under grief, and I feared shattering all over again. But this time, I was different. This time, I didn’t crumble. I held his hand. Steadied my breath. Gathered everything inside me as a wife, a mother, a business owner, as someone who has already survived the impossible once. Right now, we are waiting to learn more. But Aaron is the strongest person I’ve ever known. And the love and support surrounding us is beyond anything we could’ve imagined. Thank you for standing beside our family and our shop.

  3. Last week, Aaron was hospitalized and I still don’t feel like I’ve fully processed it. He had been feeling really sick. And with everything he’s battling, every symptom feels terrifying, because we never know if it’s the tumor, the cancer, or something else entirely. His stomach became extremely distended, to the point where he could barely breathe. We went to an appointment and our doctor immediately told us, “Go to the ER. Now.” So I rushed him in, and from that moment on it felt like our world was spinning. They did a CT scan, X-rays, test after test, and it became clear his tumor was causing serious complications in his digestive system and his body was under so much pressure. They placed an NG tube to relieve it, but even then… there was no relief. They were sure he was going to need surgery. They prepared us for that. And all I could think was: if he has surgery, cancer treatment gets delayed. More waiting. More risk. More unknown. I don’t even know how to explain the fear in that moment. I prayed harder than I ever have in my life. Everything moved fast, lights, ambulance, the gurney, wheeling him down the hall. Within minutes they rushed him into an ambulance and transferred him to another hospital. It all happened so quickly. One moment we were trying to understand what was happening, and the next I was watching them wheel my husband out, praying. I spent the night in a plastic chair, as doctors, nurses, techs came in every hour. Dozing in and out. The next afternoon the results came back, surgery wasn’t going to be necessary. We were going to be able to focus on treatment. I don’t have all the words yet. I don’t have the answers. But I know this: we are still here. Aaron is still fighting. And I am going to keep believing for a miracle, even on the days it feels impossible. Thank you for loving him, for praying for him, and for standing with us in this fight. We feel it more than you know.
