  3. Shooting pre-game will never cease to be my favourite time to capture moments as a sports cinematographer 🎥⚡️ 3 Tips for Capturing FIRE B-Roll during Pre-Game: 1. Familiarize yourself with the team’s routines ahead of the game - where they enter the arena from, what end they warm up in, what order the players come out in. These all can seem like VERY basic things to know, but the more familiar you are with them, the more efficiently you’ll be able to shoot these moments. 2. Shoot in 60 FPS - even though I’ve personally gotten away from slow motion in recent months, I LOVE shooting pre-game content in 60 frames. Most people would say shoot at 120 FPS, but I personally think that’s way too slow for these types of shots. 60 frames slowed down 40% is something we don’t see enough of, and it gives a dreamy energy that we don’t get as much with 120. 3. Look for EMOTION - this is the best time to capture athletes up close and personal, so take advantage of it to capture the energy in your environment. Whether it’s a close up of a player getting in the zone, or a wide shot of the arena bumping with energy, make sure your pre-game shots CONVEY emotion, because that’s what’ll make them 1000x more impactful for your viewer. • Shot for the NHL. I really liked their pan fried dumplings and it might’ve been my number one. The pork and vegetable wonton soup was flavorful and great too.
