  1. Joyful Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe! Devotion to Christ as King is not new, but the Church gave it great liturgical solemnity when Pope Pius XI instituted this feast in 1925 with his encyclical Quas Primas (“In the first”) .to respond to growing nationalism and secularism. He recognized that these societal ills would breed increasing hostility against the Church. The Holy Father’s purpose was to highlight the fact that Christ is King not merely over individuals, but over families and societies, over states and nations, over rulers and tribunals as well. Our duty as Catholics is to hasten the return of the world to His authority by our prayers, our influence, and our actions. We must courageously fight under His royal banner, with the weapons of the spirit, for the rights of God and of His Church. Christ is proclaimed King of all mankind in the Old and the New Testament. David, Isaiah, Daniel, and Zacharias clearly predicted the kingship or the kingdom of the future Messiah. At the coming of Christ the Angel Gabriel announced that “of His Kingdom there shall be no end.” Our Lord Himself declared His kingship before Pilate. But His kingdom, though in this world, was not to be of this world. As man He is Lord over all kings and over all human possessions. Yet He is “king of kings and Lord of lords,” and on the last day He will present Himself together with His kingdom to His Father, when all His enemies shall have been put under His feet. And so today we ask ourselves, is Jesus Christ really our king? Does He have authority in our lives? Do we acknowledge that everything we call our own really belongs to Him? How well do we use the things we call our own that really belong to God?” It’s one thing to call Christ our King, it’s another to truly be under his authority. Let us pray that He will truly be our King in all things. “Come Lord Jesus, reign in our hearts! Let us begin to experience victory and paradise even now!”

  3. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The term “Eucharist” originates from the Greek word eucharistia, meaning thanksgiving. In the celebration of the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and the instrumentality of the priest. The whole Christ is truly present — body, blood, soul, and divinity — under the appearances of bread and wine, the glorified Christ who rose from the dead. This is what the Church means when she speaks of the “Real Presence” of Christ in the Eucharist. The Lord Jesus, on the night before he suffered on the cross, shared one last meal with his disciples. During this meal our Savior instituted the sacrament of his Body and Blood. He did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the Cross throughout the ages and to entrust to the Church a memorial of his death and resurrection. The Institution of the Eucharist is written down in the four Gospels below: Matthew 26:26-30 Mark 14:22-26 Luke 22:14-20 John 6:22-59 (The Bread of Life Discourse) Jesus gives himself to us in the Eucharist as spiritual nourishment because he loves us. By eating the Body and drinking the Blood of Christ in the Eucharist, we become united to the person of Christ through his humanity. “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him” (Jn 6:56). In being united to the humanity of Christ, we are at the same time united to his divinity. Our mortal and corruptible natures are transformed by being joined to the source of life. The transformed bread and wine are truly the Body and Blood of Christ and are not merely symbols. When Christ said “This is my body” and “This is my blood,” the bread and wine are transubstantiated. Though the bread and wine appear the same to our human faculties, they are actually the real body and blood of Jesus.

  2. Micah, I miss you. There is a deep, aching hole in my heart. Even though our home is filled with people, it’s too quiet without you. I keep thinking I’ll look outside and see you laughing on the swings. Or you’ll slowly open my door and walk up to my bed and that I’ll hear your sweet voice saying, “Mama?” Oh, the pain is indescribable. And yet, you have shown us in multiple ways that you are with us. It’s not the same joy as holding your hand or hearing your voice, but there is an unexplainable joy that only comes with knowing you are with Jesus. That you are in our true home. And that you are very, very happy. I can picture your smile that would light up the room. I can hear you laughing and screaming as you run with your arms out. I can see you dancing and spinning in circles. I know you are running into the arms of every Saint you meet with that big grin and saying, “Hi, I’m Micah.” It’s easy to picture these things because this is what you did when you were alive on earth. Please continue to visit me and help mama keep going. You were always such a good helper and eager to make me smile. And I will keep asking for your help. My boy. I am so proud of you. Yesterday was the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. I was reminded of how much you loved singing the Ave Maria after our prayers and how you said “Mama Mary is the goodest girl in the whole entire world.” Well, now you’re in Heaven with her. And I’ll be there soon. Hold her hand until I get there. Keep swinging on the swings with Jesus, Micah. “Do whatever He tells you.” John 2:5

  3. It’s been one week since we had to leave the hospital. One week since it was decided that you would never step foot into our house again. Leaving you alone in that room and walking away was the most gut-wrenching thing I’ve ever had to do. Every motherly bone in my body ached at how wrong it felt. It’s also been one week of witnessing your little miracles. One week of seeing signs of you and feeling your little “hellos”. I never expected how the pain and the consolation would go hand in hand. How each breath in my lungs would burn with the fact that we have to live on without you. And how each smile in my memory would give me visions of your smiles in Heaven. I think back on the prayers I said while in the hospital, over and over again: Please, God. I’m begging you. Let me take his place. I’ll do anything. God, why are you doing this? Lord, if it be Your will, let this cup pass from me. Oh Jesus, I surrender myself to You. Take care of everything. Let all this be for Your glory. God, You are so good. In the midst of my sorrow and grief, we experienced a lot of peace. I felt so loved, protected, held up by the Body of Christ. And it began to make sense when Micah became a light for others. Through him, the Lord has been giving purpose to our pain, and revealing His presence, His mercy, and His promise of eternal life. I’ve never desired Heaven more than I do now. Jesus, you gave us the most beautiful and precious gift of salvation. You gave us Your body, You laid down Your life on that cross. And you have asked me to give my most beautiful and precious gift of my child. To give up his little body and lay his life down at Your feet. And because of Your promises, because You are so good, I surrender. “But we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

  2. I expected to feel so much anxiety regarding trying to keep my dresses pristine and spotless. I expected to feel more tied down to vanity, pride, and the preoccupation with what I wore. I expected the weighty decision of which dress I could possibly sacrifice to kneel in the garden to pull weeds or plant potatoes. But what I didn’t expect was the sense of detachment from the dress that came from wearing it every single day. If the dress was my daily wear, then it was going to get dirty, stained, or perhaps even torn. And I had to be okay with that. No longer were dresses only things I wore on “special occasions” and then put back after only wearing for an hour or two. Now I wore them constantly. When at the grocery store, while cleaning toilets, digging in the garden, or riding horses. And I had to accept that they would get soiled: covered in food perhaps, or horse hair, or bodily fluids from precious babies. The thing about wearing dresses daily, is that eventually it becomes second nature. It is a beautiful and feminine garment, to be sure, but it is also just a piece of sewn cloth. When I first began, my heart rejoiced in this expression of my femininity: how glorious to silently be able to declare the gift of womanhood that God gave me! But I also found that while I loved this silent proclamation, I also discovered a sort of quiet liberation from the world, a little of that most elusive of virtues: detachment. We are in the world, but not of it, dear friends. How extraordinary that the Lord used the dress to teach me that. — I’ve been exclusive dress wearing for a while now, and it’s been a long process of finding what works for me and what doesn’t, how much I’m willing to spend and what I’m not. Sometimes I’ll have people message me “I’d love to wear dresses daily but I don’t want to fall into vanity.” And I’m here to tell you that it only will if you let it. So wear the dress, sweet friends, and let the Lord transform your heart. 🤎

  1. I’m a convert. I veil. I love the Latin Mass and the traditions of the Faith... but I struggle to trust God. I find it difficult to have patience and I fight lukewarmness daily. Often times I lose. Lent is a time to sacrifice, fast and pray to overcome our vices and the habitual ways in which we fall short. Use your time wisely and take advantage of this beautiful season of returning to God. Die to yourself and choose Him. : Comment below how I can pray for you this Lent. : THE HISTORY OF LENT : The Forty Days’ Fast, which we call Lent [In most languages the name given to this Fast expresses the number of the day, Forty. But our word Lent signifies the Spring-Fast; for Lenten-Tide, in the ancient English-Saxon language, was the season of Spring. Translator.], is the Church’s preparation for Easter, and was instituted at the very commencement of Christianity. Our Blessed Lord himself sanctioned it by his fasting forty days and forty nights in the desert; and though he would not impose it on the world by an express commandment, (which, then, could not have been open to the power of dispensation,) yet he showed plainly enough by his own example, that Fasting, which God had so frequently ordered in the Old Law, was to be also practised by the Children of the New. - @sensusfidelium : : : : : : : : : : #ashwednesday #lent #ashes #catholic #catholicchurch #convert #catholicconvert #modesty #modestclothing #modestfashion #modestfashionblogger #catholicmodesty #veil #latinmass #traditionalcatholic #catholicwomen #blessedvirginmary #stmichaelthearchangel #praytherosary #christianblogger #christian #catholicinstagram #sensusfidelium

  1. 📚 Counsels of Perfection for Christian Mothers By Monsignor P. Leguene Motherhood is the perfect setting for Christian perfection — Legeune directs Catholic mothers to stir from spiritual lukewarmness, habitual venial sin, and dissipation by using the tools he recommends for spiritual growth: the imitation of Mary, recollected prayer, spiritual reading, a rule of life, devout assistance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and a love for our Eucharistic Lord. 📚 The Apostolate of Holy Motherhood In 1987 a mother of three young children began to see Visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Lord Jesus. The Blessed Mother called for “evangelical purity” among women and announced the creation of a new movement of mothers tailored for this age: “the Apostolate of Holy Motherhood in Catholic Families”. Holy Mary promised that this apostolate would spread throughout the world and that the holiness of these women would help usher in the Triumph of her Immaculate Heart. For 6 months our Lady and our Lord spoke to the young mother, instructing her to write the messages down verbatim as they delivered them. They promised her anonymity so that she could fulfill her duties as a wife, mother, and homemaker in quietness and peace in keeping with the teaching of the Apostolate. 📚 We and Our Children By Mary Reed Newland Mary Reed Newland, in We and Our Children, here offers wise counsel on making the home a domestic church for the raising of Catholic children in holiness, truth, and the Christian virtues. All things central to a child’s life—play, work, school, creative activity, family responsibilities, prayer, the sacraments, and the Mass—are shown to be occasions for encouraging a spiritual outlook and the formation of sound Catholic habits. 📚continued in the comments! And links will be in my stories today!
