I love when people tell me, “geez you have expensive taste!” What I hear: “wow you have high goals and work hard as hell pushing past mental barriers to achieve them, never taking no for an answer. That’s incredible!” I can’t afford a ranch here in the Colorado Rockies, but I will one day. And you guys know my ultimate dream is to buy a beach house in the Florida keys (!!!) so what did I do a couple years ago? Rented a tiny treehouse I found on Craigslist in the middle of that chain of islands, and showed up to private beaches like I was part of the wealthy snowbird crew. No one knew I lived in a 100sqft (if that lol) treehouse in someone’s backyard with a sandy bed and lizards for roommates. I surround myself with people and places I want to be like. It’s worked out pretty well. Thanks @jordan_lorance for always teaching me this. I don’t accept “that’s just where I come from” as an excuse to not achieve something unheard of. In the Keys they call it “keys disease” Here in Pagosa Springs they call it “Pagoslow” 🤣 I think my upbringing paired with an inner fire to achieve what no one in my lineage has, keeps me immune to those. I use the beautiful surroundings as motivation instead of a distraction… ya know?! PS. Who’s coming to the house warming party in my Keys bungalow, let’s get the guest list started 😜 #manifest 🏡

  3. This is Layla. Last Saturday evening I took Jeff to a random dog park in Lubbock, Texas and saw her walking outside the fence, trying to get in. I, along with everyone else there, looked around waiting for someone to say ‘oh shit! My puppy!’ And run up to her. No one ever did. Eventually someone let her in the small-dog side of the park, and people began picking her up, handing her around, asking who’s dog she was. She looked too young to even be at a dog park... people cuddled her and shrieked with “awww!!” but no one claimed her. She was covered in dirt, fleas, ears full of ticks, and so dehydrated/malnourished, she lifelessly found a corner of the park after everyone put her down and sat there, leaning against a pole in fatigue. As the sun started to go down, people grabbed their dogs and left. It was me, a young boy, and his grandma still sitting in the park. They already had FIVE rescues they found as strays on the streets of Lubbock, so that left me. Last one standing, to do something I texted JL photos of her and said... well? “Bring her. Bring her!” He immediately wrote back five times. His energy wasn’t hesitant at all, and there began his bond with her. I’ve fostered animals before. Volunteered at shelters most my life. I know a thing or two about strays! I was so worried she was someone’s puppy and they were heartbroken over losing her. But the tick infested ears, the extreme dehydration, and bloated parasitic belly told me... she’s been homeless a while. If not, born on the streets. So she came home. The very next morning I brought her to the emergency vet to rule out parvo. Perfect bill of health! Estimated her age only 8-10 weeks 🥺 and she’s a mix of shepherd, golden, and lab. Life is chaotic. We live out of a Motorhome while running two very different businesses. I’m still on the mend after my adrenal crash the beginning of this year. Adding a puppy to the mix seems absurd... ... but the way she effortlessly fits into our family, as though she’s been here all along, seems too real not to accept. I don’t know what the future will bring. But for now, this girl has joined our gang. 🐾 Welcome to Lightworkers Lounge, Layla~Loo. 🌈
