  2. I cannot believe how long I’ve been working on these ✨ FREE ✨Merton Gershun for American of Martinsville Bali hai nightstands. And before you ask, I SCAMMED MYSELF! My confidence blinded me 😂🤣 The amount of time, supplies and STRESS i wasted on these so far has been crazy! Not the smartest business decision to keep working on these but… I’m determined 🤣 Here’s how I did it! 👇🏼 + stripped using @greenez_ stripper + used carbide scraper and wire brush to remove the paint with the help of some lacquer thinner + used @jbwelddiy kwikwood epoxy putty for veneer repairs + used @realmilkpaintco oxalic acid to remove water stains + sanded with 120 grit using my @festool and @surfprepsanding (use code FURNITUREDR10 for 10% off!) and @3m abrasives + applied @myoldmasters oil based pre conditioner + applied @minwax walnut gel stain Now..   3. you’re welcome 😉 🫶🏼👇🏼 Comment LIST & I’ll send you the list of supplies I used for each one of these little DIY/Furniture flipping life hacks! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 Here’s the secrets: + you can get the bubbles out of veneer by gently poking a hole in the bubble with a utility knife & ironing it down (this reactivates the veneer glue) + water stains can be removed with bar keepers friend, a bit of water & fine steel wool. Bar keepers friend has an ingredient called Oxalic Acid which removes iron stains… you can buy pure Oxalic Acid, but it’s way more expensive than the typical container of Bar Keepers Friend! You may have to repeat the process more than once too. Triple wash with baking soda/water solution to neutralize the surface when you’re done :) + putting white vinegar & any type of steel wool into a mason jar will make a DIY stain. This process is called ebonizing! Allow the solution to sit for a few days & ta-daaa! You have your own DIY stain! easy peasy. What other furniture repair life hacks did I miss?!?   2. How I got that dream beam look 🤩👇🏼 ✨Drop the word “list” for full product links✨ I had a picture in my head how I wanted these beams to look and they turned out even better than I’d imagined! The boards themselves were true 2x6s from a sweet friend’s scrap pile. With them sitting outside, they naturally weathered into a beautiful grey that I stained on top of. But no worries if you have new wood because it’s easy to replicate a “weathered wood” finish! DIY weathered wood✨ 1. Mix equal parts water and baking soda, enough to apply it thickly over your wood. 2. Cover the wood with thick coats of the baking soda paste using a standard paintbrush, then leave the wood in the sun to dry for at least six hours. 3. If you want to either intensify the reaction or speed it up, spray the wood with white vinegar soon after applying the baking soda and water mixture. 4. After the wood has spent a day in the sun, brush away the dried baking soda with a hard-bristle brush, following the grain of the wood. 5. Rinse with water or a dampened rag, and then dry the wood with a clean cloth. *Use on untreated woods like redwood, cedar, pine, mahogany, and red oak* If it’s not a sunny day to bask, you can’t go wrong with a simple grey paint wash (grey paint + water mature), it just may look not as natural though. For stain, I’ve been enjoying @artisanenhancements Plant-based Nature’s Wood Stain. It’s one of the safer products I can use to stain indoors and emits zero VOC and is a water-alkyd making it easy cleanup 🙌🏼 Stain Ratio✨ 4 tablespoons Roasted Pecan 2 tablespoons Dark Walnut 1/4 cup of water I like adding water to increase transparency and I’ve found it eliminates the wipe off step. This ratio added just enough warmth back into my wood on top of the weathered grey so it mixed well with the other woods in our home. Finished with their Clear Topcoat that acts as a penetrating sealer and also deepens the color. DIY style and even better: Diet Coke edition 🐻💚🥤🫧 Start with your base, the holy grail (aka DC) then rinse out an animal cracker container. (Removing stickers optional just don’t let the container get too hot or it will melt🫠) Glue beanie to lid then paint. Pro tip: I would recommend a stronger glue like E6000 or super glue for a more permanent hold. Complete the look with a ribbon aka scarf🧸✨🧣 Lastly, pour in soda and whip up foam (1/3 c milk + scoop of protein) then stir and enjoy the fact that you didn’t get up at 4am for this.   1. Our next project! Emmett and I are thrilled to finally share that we’re expecting a baby! Getting here took some time... surgeries, IVF, and loss, so sharing this news feels surreal. We’re eternally grateful that one of our dear lifelong friends offered to be our gestational carrier after I had a hysterectomy. I can’t tell you how special it is to be on this journey with her- we feel incredibly lucky. We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to welcome our little one this spring. Per usual, we’re renovating... the next room on the docket is the nursery, if you want to see the design plan and read all about it (and know the gender).
