  3. 11 years ago I did this solo at Carnival never knowing where it would take me. Just saying yes and putting one foot in front of the other. Looking at all obstacles like collaborative input from the universe. This piece started as a group piece and everyone bailed one by one, making it a solo in the end. I went on to do this solo all over the world in the coming years which led to other stepping stones along my path. Success is not linear y’all. So much gratitude for Carey and Paulette who gave me an opportunity to show my work when no one in LA knew who I was. I’ll be showing work at carnival this month July 27th. See you there!

  2. disconnection —> re-connection my phone showed me the picture on the left this week and it made my heart sink into my knees. I immediately was taken back to how I used to feel during this season of my life and how deeply disconnected with myself. the girl on the left? + she was blackout drunk every weekend (and Thursday.. and wine Wednesday and any other social event) + she was a hot head with a sharp tongue. she was incredibly reactive and allowed my unhealed wounds to rise to the surface when she was intoxicated. she spent most weekend mornings trying to figure out who she needed to apologize to based on how she had acted the night before. + she was numb to all emotions. she didn’t cry (soberly) for years. she thought it was “cool” that she “didn’t have feelings” + she was in a vicious cycle of highs and lows : using a buffet of drugs to keep the rollercoaster moving forward and stay afloat. + she was incredibly swollen, inflamed and out of her body. her only form of movement was dancing on tables at frat parties. the girl on the right? + she truly, deeply, sincerely knows herself. she knows all of the versions of herself so well that she has no choice but to love them all. + she is in relationship with her body - she listens to her body’s wisdom and treats her body with respect. as with any relationship, it is not perfect but it is absolutely beautiful. + she feels e v e r y t h i n g. she fully feels the depths of grief and heartbreak because she knows that it allows her to fully feel joy and love. she knows that her emotions are temporary and allows herself to move them through her system, rather than suppress them. + she believes in not only herself, but everyone in her orbit because if she can come back home to herself —> anyone can. It’s not always sunshine + rainbows to be in deep connection, but I’ll forever choose this because I know all too well what it feels like to be living numb and in autopilot - to be relying on substances outside of myself to feel something. continued in comments ♥️

We typically go to Mexico to celebrate our anniversary, but this year decided on a Deep South sojourn (Charlotte, @ruthkingmindful Charleston, @kimanhuynh Savannah, @etpmigrates @erickatiffany_ @br00keb0st0n Atlanta, @rickinpictures @jennadixon_realestate @mondosamu Montgomery, Nashville) full of friends and family, but mostly a journey into our ancestry and the remembrance that we cannot waste the freedom and continued fight for equality that they fought and died for. We are here because they did. My reaction when @lululemonstudio asked me if I’d like to be a Guest Teacher…I leapt, I wept (tears of joy) and dashed to NYC to film.  Here’s a lil carousel ride of my experience from start to finish with a truly remarkable crew of folks.  Classes are now live on the app, such an honor to be a part of this community and share some time on the mat with people all over the world!  Shared the link in my bio where you can find all the fun deets about lululemon Studio and The Mirror! . Oh, and the icing on the cake was a photoshoot with @urbanshots_ in Central Park.  I could not contain my excitement…clearly!  To go home to NYC, to one of my favorite places in the city, made my heart shine in a truly special kind of way…I must’ve danced all over that park, three times over. . Pride 2021, Part 1 🌈 It was an honor to co-host the 11th SHWH Pride with Dyllón Burnside, a celebratory afternoon of love, laughter, music, connection, Pride and family. ❤️ We sailed into the clouds with Dyllón’s new anthem “Heaven” (listen to it right now if you haven’t already) that echoed throughout the Garden, along with the angelic and powerhouse voices of the Sunday Service choir.  DJ Brian Henry is all the vibes and then some, opening and closing the day with the most delicious vibes + tunes ever! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤 Maybe it’s because the world was on hold and we couldn’t celebrate last year, maybe it’s because I’m feeling extra proud and emotional lately as I connect more to my authentic self and other chosen family and allies or maybe because it was just THAT good, but this may have been our best Pride Celebration to date…I know I can’t have favorites but… 😇 Thank you for leaving my heart full, Proud and humming Heaven all day…Happy Pride!🌈 📸: @loamismedia

Creating the first general strike in 80 years! It was heart centered It was peaceful. It was joyful. It was hopeful. It was courageous. It was caring.   3. How it started / How it ended. After 15 months of research, unlearning, writing, group projects, late nights, meltdowns, and comprehending the more I learn, the less I know. Learning to listen and quiet my voice to strengthen my case. Master’s in Human Relations, specializing in Diversity, Equity, and Strategic Impact. 🎓 Reflection during the ceremony: Exactly on this date 23 years ago, I was turning the tassel in undergrad at Nebraska. Now, turning another at Oklahoma. I took more from this program than academia and studying the U.S. healthcare system, gun reform, employment law, Black maternal mortality, police reform, yoga x social justice, DEI programs in private sector and much more. In a new way, I learned about fortitude, resiliency, perseverance and grace. To work full-time, teach yoga & meditation part-time, begin a 300hr YTT, while doing an intensive full-time Grad program is not for the faint of hearts. I’m proud of myself for leveraging tools to dig way deep because it would have been easier to quit, which I wanted to countless times. Never quit on yourself. You are your biggest investment. Keep learning, growing, and during the process give yourself grace. On the other end of the hard stuff is a valuable lesson that will shift you in the best of ways. Thank you beyond to everyone who supported me during this time. To my cohort, this program took everything out of us, and seeing it play out in real time🫠. Let’s keep making an impact with inclusion, accessibility, equity, and justice. #OU (my Nebraskans are 🫣)
