I’ve been a bit absent as of lately… first I hurt my knee then I started a new job… so I’ve been working on adjusting my schedule to be able to post again regularly if not daily. Posted @withrepost • @silver_lining_living The sign of a beautiful experience is when you’re planning the next adventure before the current one is even over✨ . I never knew starting my essential oil journey would bring me sisters, sisters that I longed for my entire life. These ladies right here make my heart happier, lighter, more grateful. Genuine and true, what you see is what you get! . I chose to begin my natural hair transition over a year ago. August 2, 2018, would be the last time I would choose to color treat my hair despite what society screamed at me on my tv screen, magazine covers, in grocery store and drug store aisles and more. I chose to be me at all costs. Challenging from the very start, especially 4 weeks to 5 months in, my resolve AND the relationships I formed on Instagram via #silversisters would support me every step of the way. Now nearly 14 months in, I consider these ladies, complete strangers until last weekend, my friends, sisters, besties for the restie!!! . We seven silver sisters stayed in an Airbnb for 2 nights with only one teeny bathroom, I’m talking pedestal sink, old school tiny, with 1 teeny mirror over it. The silver lining? The bathroom and mirror situation was a complete non-issue. Talk about a test of low-maintenance. To me, that was it. **we did find a mirror in a closet on Saturday morning...like the heavens had opened up...ahhh 🎶 🎵 🎶 . We talked, shared, laughed, hugged and bonded. We shared about our personal natural hair journeys, children, spouses, passions. 2 nights just wasn’t enough. I can hardly wait until next time! I’m truly blessed by these friendships, individually and collectively. I would normally take a back seat and remain a wall flower, but something told me to take a chance and put myself out there. I’m so glad I did💛 . + our fab T-shirts by @graytdaysahead ... the creative mind of our group✨

  3. 1st hair maintenance visit of 2024 with my curl stylist, @tresorganiccurls. We did a shape up, a detox to remove hard water minerals and buildup, and an Olaplex treatment. My hair, especially the crown of my hair, desperately needed all three as it was getting very dehydrated no matter how long it stayed in water. It feels so much better now. I talked to my stylist about my concerns and she knew just what was needed. My haircut is a curly cut but not a curl by curl cut. We talked about maybe doing a soft blowout once a year to do a thorough hair health check. Maybe next time. But overall I am good with what we have been doing for the past 3 years. 2024 Hair Goals: Continuing to manage shedding and grow hair where the hair is thinner. Loving my Nutrafol! Continuing to let it grow, but very tempted to cut shorter to make wash day easier. More time and energy consuming as it gets longer. Experiment more with getting fluffier hair earlier in the set, but still need hair to last 6-7 days. I am a lazy natural.
