I’ll talk about love…👇 Whether you’re in a relationship, single, or married, I think you’ll find The Mindset Monday Podcast episode on “The Psychology of Love: How to love and be loved” insightful and inspiring. The rest of this post applies mostly to people who are single, but I think everyone can resonate with it. I’m going to share 3 things I’ve learned over the years that you should never do when dating or in a relationship (ps I share more on the podcast). LMK your thoughts in the comments!👇 ❌ DON’T be needy. Neediness is a big turn-off. Sometimes we communicate this without even realizing it. Examples are too much texting, seeking reassurance, moving too fast, extreme jealousy, etc. or more specifically, the words we use. Mindset-shift: be someone with a mission. Focus on doing great work and making an impact. It’s hard to be needy when you love yourself, and you’re living a purpose-driven life. Stop looking for love and start giving it away. Then, you will attract the love you’re looking for. ❌ DON’T lower your standards. When people are in unhappy relationships, it’s usually because they settled for someone else’s standards. Don’t lower your standards to match theirs. Easier said then done, but if you value your health and they don’t, do you really want to be with someone who doesn’t eat well or workout? Probably not. It’s a basic idea, but it’s essential for long lasting love. ❌ DON’T let your emotions control you. I’ve had so many great dates, yet many didn’t go that far (for various reasons), but the emotions you feel when it’s over are real - especially if you had strong feelings for them. Even if you’re Mr. Cool, it’s easy to get caught up in the lust of it all, but don’t get hung up on someone you just met, even if they’re beautiful and awesome. Practical advice: work on your confidence. When you have high self-esteem and believe in yourself, you can quickly let go and detach from those emotions and limiting beliefs. Keep working on yourself, stay on your path, and be grateful for the love that’s already in your life. And listen to The Mindset Monday Podcast!!

  2. This Telecaster is one of the most recorded guitars in history. If you read a lot on the internet, you’ll think you need a Tele that is featherweight. It must have a one piece body. The most vintage-correct saddles from whichever era you prefer. Nitro finish. Correct vintage style string tree. Wiring. Tuners. And on and on and on. So you develop a list of non-negotiables in your mind that on paper make the perfect Telecaster. And then if you ever get the chance to pick up this guitar, you’ll realize most of your list can go right out the window. This is not a lightweight Tele. It doesn’t even have telecaster saddles. It has repro tuners, a middle pickup (that Brent says he doesn’t even really use anymore), knobs that don’t match the headstock hardware. And the finish is literally automotive primer. But you can hear all the records Brent has cut with it, even just playing it acoustically. It has an awesome midrange, and he has played the coolest stuff on it for what, 46 years now? He’s using 10s by the way. Playing through an old Deluxe Reverb. Just killer. Makes me want to get a thumb pick.

  1. Carnage 🩸 I believe that I’ll send v13 someday, but this wasn’t it. Being flexible allowed me to essentially start in the knee bar, and then I was able to do the splits to avoid the tenuous foot walk. Releasing the right foot out of the splits was still difficult, and I did the crux (jump move) similarly to how most people do it these days, but it’s still really hard to say what I think the grade is. I don’t think anyone else’s opinion of the grade is wrong, I think I just used different beta. It’s never my intention to bring myself, or anyone else, down when talking about grades- I just find it interesting. The more I do, the less I feel like I know 🤷‍♀️ For example, I believe my beta is easier than the “normal” beta, but my friends also couldn’t do my beta due to not being as flexible as I am. So, the easier beta was just inaccessible, not harder…? Anyways, low end 12 feels right for me. It felt similar in difficulty to Mind Matters (also low end 12?), but easier than Dark Horse Sit (11?) so actually, who the heck knows 😅 Regardless, it was a fun sesh with good friends, and there’s a lot to be proud of!   2. Of the numerous difficult, world-class routes found at the New River Gorge, “Still Life” (5.14b) sits near the top of the list as one of the most elusive and iconic. The 50ft. bouldery route was bolted by Porter Jarrard in the 90’s with the First Ascent falling to Joel Brady in 1999, earning the grade of 5.13d. In 2006, after a crucial hold break, Matt Bosley reopened the route at 5.14b. To this day, “Still Life” remains one of the most proud and notoriously difficult routes at the NRG. In November of 2023, Kerry Scott and Maya Madere teamed up to begin their siege of the line together. After several trips came and went with a mixed bag of progress, regression, and heartbreaking attempts, Kerry clipped the top chains of “Still Life” on April 17th 2024, with Maya following suit shortly after on April 20th. Maya says, “Over the last 6 months, “Still Life” became so much more than the hardest route I’d ever tried. It was a vessel through which my approach to climbing was tested, challenged, and reframed.” Kerry notes, “Not only is it such a legendary line, but I also got to experience it alongside my best friend. We used different beta and we each had our own process, but we were there for each other through the lows and the highs, and that means the world to me.” We at Tension are incredibly proud of Kerry and Maya for achieving these historic sends together. We also also want to give an enormous thank you to @etteloc and @karenklane who documented the entire journey. Keep an eye out for the film releasing later this year 👀

It was so incredible to be back at the New, but the one thing I can’t stop thinking about is the badass lady crew there. The New is notoriously reachy (I get by with my long arms), but the ladies who are shorter have an attitude of- “f*ck it- I’ll find a way” and that inspires me so much.   2. I. AM. OVERWHELMED. Y’ALL. If you know me pretty well, then you know I don’t tell people no. Like, never. I am a helper & I feel terrible if I feel like I didn’t help someone that I could have. I don’t like to see people stressed out or struggling, so I do anything I can to take away some of their workload.... even if that means burying myself in 8 million tasks. This back to school time is different than anything we’ve ever experienced before. Teachers are panicked, stressed, overwhelmed, & anxious... with very good reason! As a coach, I am trying everything in my power to take the weight off of their shoulders. Even if it’s just a little bit. I have stayed up until 2 & 3 am for days trying to get stuff done. My to-do list grows every time that I talk to someone. I am planning my own class lessons the night before or morning of. I have A LOT on my plate. To add to it, both of my kids got sick this week. 102 fevers & the whole shebang. So, I added that stress to my plate on top of the back to school stress. I am not saying this to complain. I am just saying that I am struggling right there with any of you that are struggling. “You can only do so much” is something I was told this week, & I think we all need to remember that. We are only capable of so much. We have to do the best that we can & accept that that’s enough. So, as you are preparing your classrooms (in person & virtual), your lessons, & trying to get everything school related in line while juggling your personal life - just remember that you can only do so much. & THAT IS OKAY!

  3. Over my 5 years of teaching, there has been a lot of packing up & saying goodbye to students, colleagues, & schools. I have taught in 3 states, 4 schools, & 4 different grade levels. So, change is something I should be good at, at this point. However, as I pack up & move out of my classroom this year, it’s more bittersweet than it has ever been before. This was easily my favorite year of teaching! Making the change to middle school was a wonderful decision. My admin & colleagues were phenomenal. My students rocked my world! My school environment was as good as it gets. It was all I could have asked for. So, as the year was coming to an end, I had a REALLY tough decision. Do I stay with the greatest admin that I have ever worked for at the largest middle school in America & see all my kiddos again next year, or do I leave the classroom to be a Technology & Math Coach at a brand new school opening up next year? After many prayers, I decided to once again change schools & roles for the upcoming year. It will be an exciting adventure! Being out of the classroom and learning these new roles will be a big change. However, I truly believe it’s what is best for me!

  1. I was told that if you leave college the same way you went in then you did it wrong lol. I went in as a accounting student and came out as business student that enjoys marketing campaigns as it relates to music and entertainment. I also that picked up a hobby that has also made my college experience that much sweeter. It has opened up doors for me that I never ever thought would've happened. Because I have been all over I'd like to keep my message very broad because it truly took a village and then some 😂! For those who blessed me with their expertise, gave me words of wisdom, to my amazing professors who challenged me and put me on some reallll game.. and I mean amazing professors, To all of the publications that blessed me with a platform to show some bomb pics to the world, anyone who tutored me, partied with me, booked me, had fun with me, and loved on me while I was in college I truly want to say thank youuuu and the memories I've had stay in my heart forever. And to my uncle, we lost you this Wednesday but I was told that you sent your wishes on my Grad Day and I love you! You always supported me! Rest In Peace. ❤️ To my Alma Mater If someone ever asked me EXACTLY where I learned my business skills from id say UL. From Sales Pitching to email marketing I've learned it all 😂 Coming in as a transfer I was very nervous to start over. I was like dangggg this school is big, but after meeting a few people it quickly started to feel like a home I never wanted to leave. ❤️ i have made some amazing friends here and learned sooooo much. I'll remember UL forever. Geaux Cajuns 🌶

My name is Mr. Allmond... some may know me as Allmond with the Sauce 😅 So I was always decent at math as a kid (not because I was smart, but because I worked hard), and over the years people would tell me that I was good at explaining it. So I figured why not teach it. So I did! I currently teach high school math in Atlanta.
