  3. (From a Clinical Herbalist) One of my biggest frustrations in pregnancy/ postpartum care: Almost no one is *actually* trained in herbalism anymore. Not doctors. Not most midwives. Not most doulas. & DEFINITELY not Dr. Google. Herbal safety is *nuanced*, *dose-dependent*, *timing-dependent*, *constituent-specific* AND differs depending on each unique mama. Here’s what that actually looks like in practice ⤵️ Different herbs = VERY different safety profiles Some herbs are used like food, even in pregnancy — and often at high amounts: • Nettle → mineral-dense, often used liberally • Plantain & calendula → foundational gut-healing herbs, commonly used in higher doses (especially when repairing mucosa) I use these in pregnancy up to ounce daily! (= about 1 cup of herbal matter) Other herbs are safe, but dose matters: • Skullcap, meadowsweet → typical dosing is 1–3 tablespoons/day as tea These can support nervous system, RLP, digestion, ulcers/ gut health, inflammation… — but still require proper dosing Then there are herbs where less is more: • Horsetail → powerful silica content, usually ¼–½ teaspoon And some herbs are trimester-specific: • I do not recommend holy basil or meadowsweet in the 1st trimester • I’m cautious w/ high doses of calendula & red raspberry early on ⚠️THAT BEING SAID…. Herbs contain real phytochemicals and constituents — alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, volatile oils — that interact with: • liver detox pathways • hormones • uterine tissue • fetal development 🌿This is why working with a trained herbalist matters🌿 A properly trained herbalist understands: • dose vs food-like use • trimester-specific physiology • constitution & unique individual safety • interactions with pregnancy hormones • how to get ✨results✨, not just “avoid risk” Herbal medicine in pregnancy isn’t about avoiding everything or just sticking with NORA tea... It’s about using - the right herbs - in the right form - at the right dose - at the right time so you can be smart but support optimal pregnancy, birth, & long-term health for both mom and baby. 💬 What’s the most confusing thing you’ve heard about herbs in pregnancy?

  1. How do I make the eczema go away? I wish the answer was simple, but it’s a complex process CNCs like myself can shepherd you through 🤝 One crucial step I take with my eczema clients: strengthen the child’s digestive system using food as medicine— eczema is often an external indicator that internally the gut needs support. That’s why I have my clients focus on tissue regenerating food. One of those foods is none other than quality collagen. What foods contain the form of collagen beneficial for eczema? ✨Gelatin (which contains collagen) my 6m old’s fav way to get it: BONE BROTH my daughters current fav way to get it: homemade marshmallows I’ve been making gelatin gummies using quality gelatin for my first born who struggled with eczema in her first few months of life— supporting her in this way (& many other ways) has been way worth it considering her eczema days are now a thing of the past. We keep gelatin & collagen rich foods in our family’s diet year round, but recently emma requested marshmallows. So we perfected the recipe this week. Here’s a gut healthy marshmallow recipe for you & yours ☕️ Note: store bought marshmallows do not have health benefits like this one! 3 Quality Ingredients ▫️1 c filtered water ▫️3.5 Tbsp gelatin powder (get 100% grass fed & finished / organic / pasture-raised - you do not want to be feeding your family antibiotics, hormones, & drugs that are in the animals most gelatin/collagen is made from 💔 quality gelatin & collagen derived without the use of harsh chemicals is what we need to support the gut & our littles’ bodies) ▫️3 Tbsp @beekeepers_naturals superfood honey* (use MUMWITHABUN for 20% off) *omit honey for those under 12 months Method Mix gelatin with ½ c water set aside. Mix honey & ½ c water in a pot. Bring to a boil. Cover with lid & boil (2min). Combine gelatin water & hot honey water in a large bowl. patiently mix with a mixer until stiff peaks form when you lift the whisk (15min). Pour marshmallow into a glass container. Place in the fridge to harden (2hr) when it’s bouncy to touch, it’s ready. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator & enjoy! Here’s to gut health ☕️ #Mumwithabun #eczema

  2. Not all carbs are created equal → and not all rice cakes are either 👀 When you make food for addressing — digestion, eczema, gut health — store-bought isn’t always it. These homemade Korean rice cakes (garaetteok / 떡볶이 떡) are made from scratch with just 3 gut-loving ingredients: 🍚 Organic white rice (low-tox) ➕ Sea salt ➕ Coconut oil (hello, immune system & blood sugar balance!) BUT here’s the game changer: my recipe includes an easy soaking & souring step for better digestion, improved nutrient absorption, and eczema-elimination. Bonus: These freeze like a dream for up to 3–4 months (& are even healthier for you when cooled) You better believe I’m saving this batch for my 1/1/2026 New Year Rice Cake Soup. Use these homemade rice cakes to make 🍲 tteokbokki (spicy Korean rice cakes) 🍢 tteokkochi (grilled skewers) 🍜 tteokguk (New Year’s rice cake soup) ✨ Homemade | Soaked | Soured | Gut-friendly ✨ - Free from preservatives & gut disrupters - No plastic leaching - what’s not to love here? 🌿 Here’s to gut + skin health without sacrificing traditional / holiday dishes. Comment RICE CAKE or TTEOK and I’ll DM you the full recipe + exact ingredients. P.S. I’ll be using this batch for tteokkochi skewers, tteokguk soup & tteokbokki spicy rice cakes — follow @mumwithabun_nutrition so you don’t miss those. 📌 Save this post to come back when you’re ready to make it! #mumwithabun 🌿🍚 #gutfriendly #eczema #fromscratch #ricecakes #homemadericecakes #tteokbokki #koreanrecipes #eczemafood #homemadekoreanfood

  3. ✨The Magnesium Lychee Spritzer — the delicious ticket to hydration that actually works. If you’re like us, hydration is a priority - it’s critical for kids with eczema & postpartum mums. we’re not “trying to hydrate” with JUST plain water (it’s all about cellular hydration / healing the gut-skin axis) We’re deeply replenishing what our cells are actually craving: MINERALS. •Vitamin C → boosts collagen, immunity, and longevity •Potassium & Sodium → keep your cells hydrated & energy steady •Calcium & Magnesium → skin (eczema), bone, nerve, muscle, hormone, heart health In the right forms and ratios. Magnesium is the unseen hero here. The specific magnesium in my recipe is the same form your body needs & uses to regulate every cell — sadly it’s non-existent in our modern water supply & barely in our soil anymore. Postpartum moms— You’ve given your baby ~4lb (or 1.8kg) of your own minerals. No wonder you feel depleted, exhausted, and thirsty. We’re some of the most stressed humans to ever walk this earth… meaning our bodies are burning through minerals faster than ever. This spritzer is one step toward repletion — and YES it’s incredible for those on the eczema healing journey.. our little ones absolutely benefit from magnesium inside (the gut) & out (skin) 💬 Comment MINERALS for the full recipe + savings on the exact magnesium we love + my full magnesium guide (includes dosage, different forms of magnesium, and how to leverage it for eczema) ☝🏼Be sure to follow first so that IG doesn’t block my DM from going through 📍Save this for when you feel any of the following signs of magnesium depletion: headaches, fatigue, insomnia, inflammation, tooth decay, cholesterol elevation, TMJ, migraine, stiffness, osteoporosis, etc #mumwithabun #eczema #magnesium #minerals #guthealth #mitigatestress #nationalrelaxationday #stressmanagement #gatoradeseason #magnesiumspritzer as much as I benefit from this drink, full disclaimer: only Jesus can give us Living Water— “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” — John 4:14

  2. ~2 years ago i wanted to quit medicine - completely. i have wanted to be a physician ever since I was 7 years old, so this realization was quite foundation shifting. I loved medicine. But the system and the business of healthcare was in direct conflict with the actual "care" in healthcare: both for patients and their physicians. For physicians, the system contained a lack of autonomy and the prioritization of volume over value. It created a lack of boundaries between professional and personal time and criticized physicians for not reaching a target that was ever moving and unreachable from the start. The practice of medicine was no longer... beautiful. It was frustrating and filled with inadequate time, moral injury, increasing demands and expectations and dwindling support and transparency. I had personal encounters with physicians, in which I was the patient, that were.. exhausting and disheartening. I remember thinking to myself, "is this what medicine has become? Is this all that healthcare is capable of?" There are not a lot of ways to gain some semblance of control, autonomy and choice as a physician within this current healthcare system. In the reel I describe a few changes that I made, which truly felt like a breath of fresh air. Those changes helped me remember why I went into medicine and also helped me learn how to prioritize myself, professionally. There have been many amazing physicians that have exited the clinical practice of medicine since 2020 and many more plan to leave by 2025. Hopefully the content in this reel helps someone else the way that it helped me. ❤️ with love, dr chimmy, md 💋

  1. 4 things you think are toxic but aren’t 👇🏼 It seems these days people love talking about what’s toxic and what’s not. But what does toxic even mean? The dictionary defines it as “very harmful or unpleasant in a pervasive or insidious way.” And while that’s helpful, I find it more useful to look at the origins of the word, which comes from the Greek phrase “toxikon pharmakon”. This translates as “poison for arrows”. I like to keep that energy in mind when thinking about what is REALLY toxic. 1️⃣ Intense conflict A lot of people see intense conflict as toxic. These are the same people who talk about the way things “should be” rather than the way things are. The truth is, though, we are human beings and highly imperfect. Sometimes intense conflict can help move through stuck energy and generational trauma. 📢 It’s judgement and blame that are actually toxic. 💡Remember: if they seem more intense than you, you attracted this situation to yourself or yourself to this situation. Ask yourself: what is it trying to teach you? 2️⃣ When they’re not being their highest self They’re behaving badly. They’re not being who they want to be. But who would they be without your judgment? Just a human being having an experience. 3️⃣ When they need to deal with things now To avoidants, this feels toxic. Your programming is telling you to retreat to their cave. That’s where you feel most safe. 💡The truth is though that dealing with it now is safe too. You will survive. It’s just your nervous system that feels unsafe. It’s not real. 4️⃣ in comments ⚠️ Here are things that are ACTUALLY toxic that seem like they’re not: 👉🏼 Gossiping about the relationship outside the relationship rather than working in the relationship 👉🏼 Blaming them for experiencing intense emotions 👉🏼 Resenting & judging how they are showing up 👉🏼 Going on “breaks” from the relationship as a form of punishment 👉🏼 Labeling someone’s behavior as toxic I hope you can see where you’ve been being toxic, so that you can see what life is like when you release that energy and show up as the most loving and compassionate version of you. I love you 🫶🏼

  2. 3 signs you’re in the right relationship 👇🏼 Is it easy to figure out whether or not you’re with the right person? Well, depends on who you ask. Most people aren’t people you’d really want to take advice from. They’re projecting their own fears, insecurities, scarcity mindset, and limiting beliefs onto you. Here’s a simple way of checking in with YOURSELF: 1️⃣ You’re in love with who YOU are around them 🗣️ People tend to think that when you’re in a relationship with someone, it’s the qualities about them that matter. Are they kind, smart, hardworking? But the truth is none of that really matters. What matters is who you are as a result of being around them. ✨ When I am around @emnaturopathic I feel the most confident, the most playful, the most joyful and peaceful version of myself. I love who I am. 💡Takeaway: Chasing relationships based on the qualities of the person you are with < choosing relationships based on how you feel and are around them. 2️⃣ Loving each other is easy 🗣️ CAVEAT: This doesn’t mean that EVERYTHING will be easy or that there won’t be conflict. Your relationship will fail if you attach yourself to that idea. ✨ But it also means that if love feels like a grind, there’s someone better out there for you. In my relationship now, the way we like to give and receive love is completely aligned. Sure, it absolutely requires effort, but it doesn’t feel like a job. 💡 Takeaway: there is someone out there who wants to love you in the way you want to receive it, and wants to receive it in the ways you want to give it. 3️⃣ You’re able to forgive each other 🗣️ This may be one of the most important factors. If you are with someone who has the capacity to trigger you, there will be times where they press on an unresolved wound of yours. Why they do this is because they have some unresolved wounds themselves. ✨ This is okay. You’re both human beings. You’re going to make mistakes. You’re going to show up not exactly how you want to in every moment. This is the beauty of living an expansive life. 💡Takeaway: Forgive, and forgive fully. I love you and wish you all the magic the universe has to offer.

  3. ‼️here’s why👇🏼 not even with any of the ridiculous eclipse viewing glasses you bought!! lol 🌞🌝throughout history solar eclipses were a time where everyone STAYED INSIDE, boarded up windows/ closed curtains, covered mirrors, meditated, and fasted!! this was NOT a time to be outside and look at the sun! some cultures believed that eclipses were omens, signs of impending disaster, or could bring bad luck, so precautions were followed. In addition to ancient traditions, Sadhuguru talks a lot about fasting during the solar eclipse as the energetics are SO strong that there can be molecular changes to our food which may cause food to be harmful or even poisonous to you. (think microwaves how they have a vibrational impact on food that takes away a lot of the nutrients, but a LOT stronger than a microwave) The solar eclipse strongest energies are around 2:37pm-3:33pm on Monday, April 8th and there is a global meditation going on at this time that I would love to invite you all to join in on!! 🧘🏻‍♀️ (In San Diego the peak eclipse energy will be at 11:11am) the energy tomorrow is going to be veryyyyy potent. fasting will allow you to be very present with your body and all sensations during this time. me and @saintsofflow are already half a day into our fast!! no dinner for us😛 going to shut all our blinds and close our curtains tonight so tomorrow morning I’m in full cocoon mode lol. I will also be palo santo-ing my entire house tomorrow morning!! LIFE IS SO MUCH MORE FUN WHEN YOU LEAN INTO TRADITION AND HAVE FUN EXCUSES TO FAST AND RESET AND DIVE INWARDS!! This is nothing to fear, but rather a powerful portal where you’re invited to make the best of it! Excited for your journey🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 🙋🏼‍♀️anyone else going to join in???? lmk!!! 🌷tag a friend you want to do this with!!!! we are in this together!!! . . . #solareclipse #solareclipse2024 #astrological #astronomyart

  3. I hate that we never had the chance to meet you. I hate that we don’t know what your eyes, hair, hands, nose, and toes looked like. I hate that we never heard your cries and your laughs. I hate that we never got to have those sleepless nights. I hate that we’ll never plan a birthday party for you, be your Santa, Easter bunny, and tooth fairy. We’ll never attend your graduations, help you get ready for prom, help you apply to colleges or jobs. We’ll never see you fall in love. We’ll never see your glittering eyes watching a beautiful sunset, or your cheeks redden from us embarrassing you in front of your friends. We’ll never teach you how to drive, how to swim, how to cook or do laundry or ask for help when you need it. There’s too much we’ll never get to see and do with you. There’s too much love to give you with no place to go. We’ll hold onto every drop of that love until we meet you in heaven and can shower you with it all. We love you & we’ll never let your short existence be minimized or let our grief be shoved into a tiny, sound proof box to make society more comfortable. We’ll talk about you and honor you every day. 2. 1. No continuous fetal monitoring 🚫 This one really sends people. I opted for intermittent monitoring so I could move around. Sorry I didn’t want to be strapped to a bed and machine while I’m laboring. If your hospital has a travel monitor that could be a great option too (mine did not). 2. No laying on my back for labor 🤚 This was actually made the norm in the United States to make it easier FOR DOCTORS. Not for you!! How wild is that?? The most unnatural position to give birth in EVER!! Can you imagine trying to go poop and someone says lay on your back?!? No ma’am. Ain’t happening. Do what feels best TO YOU. 3. No epidural 💉 No I don’t want a trophy Karen but I do think if more women knew the real side effects of an epidural for mom and for baby - they would not be as popular (and big pharma would not be making as much money) 4. No I don’t want you to bathe my baby 🛁 Babies are born with their protective coating ON PURPOSE. God makes no mistakes. Also giving you my baby to go take and bathe yourself??? Absolutely not. Smell your baby and never bathe them is my thought on it. 5. No I don’t want you to swaddle my baby 🙅🏻‍♀️ I want my baby on top of me and on my boob every single second, the moment they are born. FOR WEEKS. Skin to skin with me or skin to skin with hubby. What you choose to do after that is on you but while your baby is adjusting to this world nothing makes them feel safer or releases more oxytocin than being skin to skin with their mama. This also does wonders for establishing breastfeeding. Were there any things you declined that people didn’t understand?! Let me know! ⁉️ Follow along for more tips on how to have YOUR dream labor + postpartum experience 🫶🏻
