  2. Even as a beginner—I only saw my potential. That’s why I stayed consistent with Pilates. I even tried taking a step away in 2020, thinking I could be happy making a career of something else, but it turns out I can’t. Learning and teaching movement—specifically Pilates—is what I was born to do. Beyond that I think that sharing my story is a huge part of my purpose on this platform. Teaching Pilates, real Pilates, isn’t easy. It’s constantly believing in yourself, hyping yourself up, sometimes being dismissed by long time mentors—and honestly, that’s not easy. But I just can’t and won’t quit. Twelve years ago I took my first Pilates lesson and never stopped. I’m still here—doing the thing I love most in this world, despite how hard it can feel sometimes. I truly believe it only takes one “yes” or one person to believe in you to change your life—so long as you’re ready. So, I’ve put my head down and worked. Instead of taking big trips, I’ve invested in equipment, weekly private lessons, workshops–anything to propel me forward in Pilates. I’m humbled by the fact that there’s still SO MUCH MORE TO LEARN and more ways to grow as both a practitioner and teacher. I want to be the best version of myself, so we ride the wave and embrace the good with the bad. If you’re a Pilates teacher or practitioner and want to quit, has quit, or are thinking of coming back—you are beyond capable of doing this. There is room for you to be great.   3. I’ve been a little quiet on here lately—not because I don’t care, but because I do. Deeply. As a Mexican who immigrated from Mexico and is now a U.S. citizen, I’ve felt a heavy mix of anger, sadness, and responsibility these past few weeks. I know what it’s like to be undocumented. I know what it’s like to try to do things “the right way.” But how can we not be enraged seeing our people not even given a chance to show up to their court hearings because of a broken system? No one shows up like the Latin community—yet we’re always the first ones targeted and the last ones protected. It’s wild to see how many fitness instructors and brands throw “Latin” in front of a playlist or class to fill a room, but stay completely silent when our communities are hurting. It’s so embarrassing! If you’re uncomfortable with this post or feel the need to unfollow, that’s okay. I’m not here for numbers—I’m here for my people. Proud to be a first-gen.
