  1. 1 year ago I feared the worst, I thought my husband was not going to survive the stroke, ARDS, pulmonary embolism and pneumonia he had. It was rough for awhile. We spent 6 weeks in the icu, 3 of those he was in a coma & 2 of those he was on a paralytic agent to help his lungs. I was upset when the doctors told me their expectations for his left side and his function & quality of life. Upset because I truly didn’t expect such little faith and little hope. But it’s a good thing neither I nor Logan believed them. Instead, Logan used those “expectations” as fuel for his recovery & I used it as fuel to do whatever I could do to help him prove the doctors wrong. I am happy to share he has already exceeded all expectations & he’s not slowing down or stopping anytime soon! We won’t stop until he and our family are whole again!   2. As I was going through some videos last night, I saw a video that was completely dark from our time in the hospital….so I clicked on it. It was a 5 min conversation that Logan and I had on October 5th at 2am in the morning (hence why it was completely dark). I honestly didn’t even remember this video..but a lot of things were a blur from back then. So I listened to it. In the video, Logan told me that he wanted to prove the doctors wrong, to get back to squatting 405 (yep, very specific but squats have always been Logan’s favorite lift), take Oakley to the next Olympics (already the plan!), to be an advocate for others going through something similar and he wanted to share his story in hopes it will both inspire & help others (prob why I was filming this conversation). Logan’s never been one for cameras & he’s never been one for social media. But I guess there’s something about having a near death experience that makes you see & do things differently. Ironically enough, over the last few weeks, Logan has already begun to tell his story, and I have also been telling my story, the hoops I jumped through to get Logan the best care, life in the hospital, after returning home, literally everything. We have also been filming exercises to help others with an in home stroke rehab program! Our goal is to one day share all of this with you all!   3. I never imagined 8 months ago my husband would have a stroke & after being in the hospital 7 weeks and almost losing him several times, I never thought he would be doing so well today. Of course I had hope & I was determined to get him the best therapists in our area, but it takes more than good therapists to do what Logan has done….it takes grit and heart and so much determination. I am blown away by him each & everyday. & we will continue to keep pushing forward, or as Logan says “trudging through the mud” & one day I know he will be 100%!!!! I hope you all watch the entire thing, and if you do, you will see just how many people have poured into him, me, and our entire family these last 8 months…it takes a village & a community & you all are part of that!   1. Since autism became apart our world, my group of friends sure has changed. I’ve pulled away and let friendships fade with most of my friends who have neurotypical kids. I found myself being jealous and resentful, comparing our kids even though I tried so hard not to. I couldn’t stomach listening to complaints about kids talking too much when I’d give anything for my kids to have the ability to communicate with me. I couldn’t empathize with their struggles of their children wanting to play with them all the time, when my kids have no interest in playing with others. They’d complain about how hard things were and I’d want to scream, “you have no idea what hard is!” but I would just nod and smile. Maybe that’s immature of me and I need to work on being a better, bigger person, but it is what it is. I’m not a bad person for feeling this way. If you’re raising a neurodivergent, disabled child do you feel like this? Or are you still as close as ever with your old friends?

  2. My boys, Macallan and Lincoln, have ignored each other for most of their lives. Being autistic and nonspeaking, they’re just not that interested in other kids, including their own sibling. But a couple of months ago, Linky started giving Mac hugs out of the blue. Macallan went from annoyed to intrigued to happy about those hugs. Then Mac started showing all this love to Linky, holding his face and giving him kisses, I thought my heart might explode from the sweetness! I’ve always been worried they won’t have a relationship, but now I see I was worrying about nothing. How they interact is just different, it’s beautiful and unique just like them!

  3. Many autistic kids have difficulty mimicking, Lincoln included, so imagine my surprise when I saw this!! This is first time one of my babies imitated something in real life without someone trying to get them to mimic them! It’s RARE for either of my boys to imitate, so for Lincoln to do it on his own was pretty damn special! #iykyk #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance
