  2. In 2020, our precious 7 month old baby had double hip surgery on his hips for hip dysplasia … which he was born with. He was in a full body cast for 10 weeks after the surgery. Then, our Landon had to wear a brace for nights and nap time for nearly a year. It was so hard and devastating to go through … But look at him now … he’s running, walking, stomping, dancing, and jumping in beautiful health! ALL because of JESUS!!! We are forever grateful for God’s healing over our baby Landon! 🧸 Thank you, Jesus. 🙌🏼🙏🏼 We still bring him in once a year to get checked to make sure his hips continue to stay locked in position. We pray constantly over his hips and his body. We are so deeply thankful for the miracle of today and how the Lord has provided abundantly for our son and for us every step of the way!!! 😭 Every time he runs the bases at his baseball game ⚾️ … or runs so fast and free in our backyard with his brothers … we are deeply reminded of God’s faithfulness and His goodness. We love you forever our Landon Russell with our whole hearts. And our other three precious baby boys. 🥹🩵 God is always at work.   2. Tucker’s journey with Autism-a peek into our two year journey…so far We are sharing our journey with the hopes that it may help others going through similar situations. We know first hand how a diagnosis like Autism can feel like a major punch in the gut. However, it was through watching and hearing others stories that helped us maneuver our own situation. From getting a diagnosis to figuring out what treatments we would do. We plan to share what has and has not worked for us throughout this process. Currently, Tucker goes to ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapy 5 days a week, with occupational therapy and speech therapy added a couple of days in each week. Most recently we did a two week intensive with @dr.joshmadsen @infinityneuromotor to really focus on getting rid of some of his retained primitive reflexes, while also doing light therapy to help with cognitive function and hyperbaric chamber for inflammation/circulation. We will share more on our intensive experience in another post! Thank you to the many that have already given us tremendous support.   2. Thanking the Lord over and over for watching over Ricky. A man with road rage shot him in the leg while driving in Atlanta, GA. The police have no suspects at this time, but are investigating. I pray this person is caught and doesn’t hurt anyone else. The bullet missed all major arteries Thank the Lord. We are still in the hospital for observation and to come up with a treatment plan. Please pray for Ricky for a smooth recovery and for the doctors to continue giving him great care. Thank you Lord for watching over him. 🙏🏻

  3. Levi asked me on the way to school today , “do you think daddy is going to have a birthday party in heaven this weekend since he can’t have one here with us “? I told him absolutely. I think your dad is going to have the most magical birthday with Jesus and have all the Bojangles he can eat. And then he asked me, “how come he had to go to Heaven so soon but other daddies don’t”? Whew. That one hit me hard. I wish I had all the answers for him and could take that ache in his heart away. It isn’t fair. I get angry thinking that he will always have to miss his dad. I tried my best to explain to him that I’m not sure why Jesus needed him so soon , but that I do know he is watching over us and is so proud of him. I told him that he will get to see his dad again one day and until then we will always celebrate him and talk about him and keep his memory here with us in our hearts. He smiled a little and said , “well I am happy that I have a new baby brother and ricky. My dad can watch over them too and keep them safe like he does me. I bet he laughs at ricky when he snores because mom he snored so loud last night” 😂😭❤️ Needless to say he got to school smiling and laughing. Just a reminder for those going through a hard time and might be questioning why god allows pain in our lives , he is close to the broken-hearted. He never promised a life without pain but he does promise us strength to get through these hard days and to use bad things for our good. 3 years ago I never imagined I would be where I am today . But God continues to show me that there is still good in life and even though we went through this tragedy of losing Kenny, our lives here continue on. With him in our hearts and watching over us all ❤️

His attitude was poor when he woke up, very demanding, no appreciation, and whiny. I can only handle so much of that while also taking care of three other kids. When I notice this behavior, I usually say “it’s time for a restart and reset” They go up to their room, take a minute to adjust (sometimes longer) and when they are ready they come downstairs, apologize and try again. As someone who dealt with a lot of postpartum rage, I know yelling sets an icky tone in the house— especially first thing in the morning.   2. no one warned me that following through would be one of the hardest parts of parenting. bc big emotions usually come next. following though good or bad teaches your kids to trust you, which is important in your relationship! When choosing a consequence, I try my best to make sure it goes hand in hand with their actions. For example, sending them to their rooms wouldn’t have made sense in this situation because the consequence is disconnected from what they did. By the time they got to their rooms, they probably would’ve forgotten why they were even sent there. I want the consequence to happen in the moment and actually connect to the behavior I’m trying to correct.   3. Camp, VBS, spend the night, swimming pool season is here. Make sure you’re having this conversation with your kids MULTIPLE times this summer. 1. You go to the bathroom ALONE. 2. No one sees your private parts and you don’t look at anyone else’s. 3. Do not undress in front of anyone. 4. Tell an adult when you feel uncomfortable. 5. You will NOT be in trouble for speaking up. 6. This conversation is only awkward & uncomfortable if you MAKE it. Parents, reminder !!!!
