  1. No, no and no! I hear these things said often and they just aren’t true. 1. Gray hair won’t make you look older. To clarify - If you are in your 20’s with gray hair you will look like someone in their 20’s with gray hair, the same is true if you are in your 30’s, 40’s etc. It’s okay to look your age and gray hair is literally just another hair color 👩🏻‍🦳🤍 But also- who decided women need to look younger in order to be considered worthy or beautiful? That’s probably a topic that deserves it’s own post.🙃 2. Gray hair isn’t always more coarse. Many women discover that their gray hair is actually the opposite of coarse. My experience has been that my gray is very soft; it’s the leftover dyed parts at the bottom that are coarse and dry. If you have do have coarse hair, regardless of the color, the key is finding and using the right products. 3. Having gray hair does NOT mean your long-haired days are over. There is no rule that says if you have gray hair or are over a certain age you have to have short hair. Wear your hair however you want! 🤍 If you are considering ditching the dye, I say go for it. Feel like you could never go gray and want to keep dyeing it? That’s okay too!   3. Recently I was introduced to an ugly side of social media, one I didn’t really know existed. The part where people say unkind and mean spirited things to others who are doing their own thing. Many of you reached out and reminded me that the focus needs to be on the positive support I am getting and to ignore the haters, which I really took to heart.   2. I find that as my hair grows out, the gray leaves me wanting a little more emphasis on my eyes. Just to kind of balance everything out, y’know? Just tried a new-to-me eyeliner trick that checks all of my boxes: minimal effort, hard to mess up, emphasizes my eyes, & gives me a cat eye that works with my eye shape. It’s subtle, but every time I catch a glimpse in a mirror I’m like “oh, hello there.” I’m not mad about it.   3. Hey 👋 my lovelies! It’s been a while! So it has been for me! I’ve been a bit absent as of lately… first I hurt my knee then I started a new job… so I’ve been working on adjusting my schedule to be able to post again regularly if not daily. I miss being here as I like to and hope I can be jumping back in pretty soon! . . I just came back from my monthly meet up with my friends from @dapperorlando and decided to shoot some photographs for my Instagram lovelies. These were after the meetup today so my hair is a bit down from the humidity.   1. Visited my wonderful hairdresser @kimballhairstylist88 yesterday, and after I got home, I received the sweetest text from her. She sent me the photo on the left, which was taken about 8 weeks after my last color on 10/4/17. Then she said, “U have come along way. I'm so proud that u embrace your hair and be natural ❤️” If you don’t have a hairstylist that supports you the way Kim supports me, then it’s time to find a new stylist!! They are out there, I promise! And about my hair....and about this whole going gray process... it can be so hard sometimes. People can be so rude sometimes. I never knew starting my essential oil journey would bring me sisters, sisters that I longed for my entire life. These ladies right here make my heart happier, lighter, more grateful. Genuine and true, what you see is what you get! . I chose to begin my natural hair transition over a year ago. August 2, 2018, would be the last time I would choose to color treat my hair despite what society screamed at me on my tv screen, magazine covers, in grocery store and drug store aisles and more. I chose to be me at all costs. Challenging from the very start, especially 4 weeks to 5 months in, my resolve AND the relationships I formed on Instagram via #silversisters would support me every step of the way. Now nearly 14 months in, I consider these ladies, complete strangers until last weekend, my friends, sisters, besties for the restie!!! . We seven silver sisters stayed in an Airbnb for 2 nights with only one teeny bathroom, I’m talking pedestal sink, old school tiny, with 1 teeny mirror over it. The silver lining? The bathroom and mirror situation was a complete non-issue. Talk about a test of low-maintenance. To me, that was it. **we did find a mirror in a closet on Saturday morning...like the heavens had opened up...ahhh 🎶 🎵 🎶 . We talked, shared, laughed, hugged and bonded. We shared about our personal natural hair journeys, children, spouses, passions. 2 nights just wasn’t enough. I can hardly wait until next time! I’m truly blessed by these friendships, individually and collectively. I would normally take a back seat and remain a wall flower, but something told me to take a chance and put myself out there. I’m so glad I did💛 . + our fab T-shirts by @graytdaysahead ... the creative mind of our group✨
