  1. How we made this! We had fun reading all your guesses (there were so many creative ones). Shout outs to the first few who guessed correctly: @ocetheguy1 @jen_surine @fabi28.03 I'm really excited to incorporate AI into my editing workflow more this year 👩🏻‍💻 For this video we're using DAIN to interpolate the frames. DAIN stands for Depth-Aware video frame Interpolation - it uses AI to estimate the depth of a video, and with this information uses more AI to interpolate between frames with insane accuracy. The result is WAY smoother than traditional ways of interpolating frames, which are less sophisticated techniques that only use 2D data (e.g. optical flow). DAIN isn’t perfect (you can see some artifacts around my hands and the sand) but I find the result incredibly impressive. I've mostly seen DAIN be used to increase frame rates on animations or create artificial slow motion. But I haven’t seen it be used to create "impossible" movements, so I was excited to try and test that. Over the last month, I shot over 100 test clips to figure out which movements worked best. I worked closely with @jperl who wrote a custom program to batch run DAIN. Batch running allowed us to iterate and test much faster. I would send @jperl a bunch of clips, he'd batch run them overnight, and then I'd review them in the morning before trying another round of tests. All this for a 7 second video 😜 But it was well worth it cause we had a lot of fun figuring it out If you want to try it, you can download DAIN-app by Gabriel Poetsch (available on Windows + NVIDIA only) Director @karenxcheng Editor @jperl DAIN-App by Gabriel Poetsch Credits to the incredible AI researchers who created DAIN: Wenbo Bao, Wei-Sheng Lai, Chao Ma, Xiaoyun Zhang, Zhiyong Gao, Ming-Hsuan Yang See their research here:  https://arxiv.org/abs/1904.00830 Shoutout to @creyety for inspiring me to try experimenting with interpolating stop motion videos #artificialintelligence #ai #AIedit #stopmotion #interpolation

  3. Shoulder ‘Touch’ shirt Indianapolis had #SplitLip. Louisville had #Endpoint and @falling_forward_louisville_. Detroit had @empathy_detroit. Cleveland, Ohio had #Chalkline, Ottawa had @shotmaker_official. When I think of #midwestemo, this tends to be the sound my brain recalls, with a sadly underappreciated band rising to the top: London, Ontario’s own #Shoulder, an #emotionalhardcore band that existed between 1994-1997. Most members of Shoulder went on to form the spectacular #Constantines, whose #indierock I marveled at during an Ohio show in the early 2000’s. That was truly one of the best shows I’ve seen from any band, and once I discovered Shoulder’s music, I couldn’t help but wish I’d found out about them much earlier. I never expected to own a Shoulder shirt, and now that I do (one of 50 printed with the band’s permission as a collaboration between @life.love.shirts and @indepentees), I couldn’t be happier with it. The artwork is gorgeous, and the back print (acknowledging that a portion of all sales goes to provide clean water through @vivaconagua) really sealed the deal for me - and for anyone who knows me, feels super on brand for how I try to live in the world. Seriously - I love it. Although I’m a big fan of the band’s single full-length, ‘Touch’ (released on LP and CD as a collaboration between #conquertheworldrecords and #winterrecords), I haven’t yet been able to buy it. I do own one of my fave Shoulder songs (“Kindling”) on this self-titled 7”, however, and plan to pick up their split 7” with @morning.again when I can. The band almost did a split with @chokehold_hc, which would have been great, and frequently covered songs by @officialcult, #ritesofspring, and @dag.nasty during their limited touring. They also had a song as a hidden track on @deepelmrecords’ #emodiaries Chapter 3. Thanks to #abridgedpauserecordings for so much info. Members also played in #associatesofmichaelfeuerstack, #lids, and #aswespeak, releasing music on the aforementioned labels and #rhythmofsicknessrecords, #CTWblack, #goodfellowrecords, and @moocowrecords. #90semo #90shardcore #canadianhardcore #canadianemo #lifeloveshirts #indepentees #vivaconagua

  1. 3 daily habits I took to the next level in 2020: self-reflection, goal setting, and productivity. Let’s be honest...even if you’re superwoman, we’re all a little dysfunctional to some degree. All of us! And if you’re in denial thinking “no not me!” I would love to see your cell phone analytics and how much time you waste on unproductive things ;) Focusing on these 3 areas though really increased my personal growth 🌱🌿🌳 I used to feel “busy” all the time and thought I was being productive, but productivity is about PRODUCING! That’s when I went in my little cave and really got into that deep work mindset. Combining my daily mindfulness practice with my consistent self-reflection, has lead to so much more self-awareness. It makes it so much easier to identify your bad habits or actions in general, and you gain so much more command over your every day moves. You start living with more intention, purpose, and energy. Anyway, I can’t recommend those three things enough! Actually write your goals down, check them daily, reflect, learn, and focus on increasing productivity. Remember, efficiency leads to MORE free time, not less! #mindset #mindsetmonday #motivation #wednesdaywisdom #wisdom #wisdomwednesday #wisewords #growthmindset #selfreflection #productivity #productivityhabits #productivitycoach #lifecoach #highperformancecoach #highperformance #highperformancehabits #goals #goalsetting #goalsetting2021 #accountabilitycoach #accountabilitycoaching #morristownnj #morristown #teachersofinstagram #teachersofig #teacherootd #teacher #teacheroutfit

  2. Okay, I’ll do it. I’ll talk about love…👇 Whether you’re in a relationship, single, or married, I think you’ll find The Mindset Monday Podcast episode on “The Psychology of Love: How to love and be loved” insightful and inspiring. The rest of this post applies mostly to people who are single, but I think everyone can resonate with it. I’m going to share 3 things I’ve learned over the years that you should never do when dating or in a relationship (ps I share more on the podcast). LMK your thoughts in the comments!👇 ❌ DON’T be needy. Neediness is a big turn-off. Sometimes we communicate this without even realizing it. Examples are too much texting, seeking reassurance, moving too fast, extreme jealousy, etc. or more specifically, the words we use. Mindset-shift: be someone with a mission. Focus on doing great work and making an impact. It’s hard to be needy when you love yourself, and you’re living a purpose-driven life. Stop looking for love and start giving it away. Then, you will attract the love you’re looking for. ❌ DON’T lower your standards. When people are in unhappy relationships, it’s usually because they settled for someone else’s standards. Don’t lower your standards to match theirs. Easier said then done, but if you value your health and they don’t, do you really want to be with someone who doesn’t eat well or workout? Probably not. It’s a basic idea, but it’s essential for long lasting love. ❌ DON’T let your emotions control you. I’ve had so many great dates, yet many didn’t go that far (for various reasons), but the emotions you feel when it’s over are real - especially if you had strong feelings for them. Even if you’re Mr. Cool, it’s easy to get caught up in the lust of it all, but don’t get hung up on someone you just met, even if they’re beautiful and awesome. Practical advice: work on your confidence. When you have high self-esteem and believe in yourself, you can quickly let go and detach from those emotions and limiting beliefs. Keep working on yourself, stay on your path, and be grateful for the love that’s already in your life. And listen to The Mindset Monday Podcast!!
