Thank you. 3. Baby Hafþórsson made his world debut yesterday, September 26th 2020 at 39 weeks at 3530 grams and 52cm. . At 5:00 AM I woke up to pee and felt a small gush. I wasn’t sure if it was my water or the evening primrose suppository I took the night before. I went back to bed and started feeling some cramps but still wasn’t sure if I was going into labour. After about twenty min and a few cramps later I got out of bed and felt another gush. After this I knew I was in labour and decided to lay back down, let Hafþór sleep and see how things went. After some more cramps, more water and some mucus plug, Hafþór woke up a little and I let him know I was losing my water. He immediately flew out of bed and asked if we were leaving or if we should at least call the midwives! I calmly explained that we would wait a bit, we didn’t know how long things would take to get moving. At this point we started timing my contractions and they were just under a minute with a five minute rest. I decided to take a quick shower and wash my hair. In between contractions, we made electrolyte drinks, some food and got ourselves ready. At shortly after 7:00AM We called @eyruntj to come photograph as well as our doula and midwife to update, I ended up passing the phone to Hafþór as I needed to vomit right after a strong contraction (which I did once more throughout the labour). Our midwife arrived shortly before 8:00 and checked me to find I was 5cm dilated. We decided I would try the bath at home but after she checked me my contractions started coming for over a minute every 2-3 minutes. We then made the call to move to Björkin, the birthing center. At 8:40AM we arrived after a brutal car ride where I started using deep vocals as a pain technique. I just wanted to get into the birthing pool once we arrived, I paced around between contractions and when one hit I would lean over and Hafþór would squeeze my hips. By 9:00 AM I was in the pool and finally felt some relief, enough that I was able to gather myself a bit between the first few contractions. Right away my body gave me the urge to start pushing and I trusted my body and urge and went with it. . Continued in comments!

  3. (From a Clinical Herbalist) One of my biggest frustrations in pregnancy/ postpartum care: Almost no one is *actually* trained in herbalism anymore. Not doctors. Not most midwives. Not most doulas. & DEFINITELY not Dr. Google. Herbal safety is *nuanced*, *dose-dependent*, *timing-dependent*, *constituent-specific* AND differs depending on each unique mama. Here’s what that actually looks like in practice ⤵️ Different herbs = VERY different safety profiles Some herbs are used like food, even in pregnancy — and often at high amounts: • Nettle → mineral-dense, often used liberally • Plantain & calendula → foundational gut-healing herbs, commonly used in higher doses (especially when repairing mucosa) I use these in pregnancy up to ounce daily! (= about 1 cup of herbal matter) Other herbs are safe, but dose matters: • Skullcap, meadowsweet → typical dosing is 1–3 tablespoons/day as tea These can support nervous system, RLP, digestion, ulcers/ gut health, inflammation… — but still require proper dosing Then there are herbs where less is more: • Horsetail → powerful silica content, usually ¼–½ teaspoon And some herbs are trimester-specific: • I do not recommend holy basil or meadowsweet in the 1st trimester • I’m cautious w/ high doses of calendula & red raspberry early on ⚠️THAT BEING SAID…. Herbs contain real phytochemicals and constituents — alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, volatile oils — that interact with: • liver detox pathways • hormones • uterine tissue • fetal development 🌿This is why working with a trained herbalist matters🌿 A properly trained herbalist understands: • dose vs food-like use • trimester-specific physiology • constitution & unique individual safety • interactions with pregnancy hormones • how to get ✨results✨, not just “avoid risk” Herbal medicine in pregnancy isn’t about avoiding everything or just sticking with NORA tea... It’s about using - the right herbs - in the right form - at the right dose - at the right time so you can be smart but support optimal pregnancy, birth, & long-term health for both mom and baby. 💬 What’s the most confusing thing you’ve heard about herbs in pregnancy?

  1. How do I make the eczema go away? I wish the answer was simple, but it’s a complex process CNCs like myself can shepherd you through 🤝 One crucial step I take with my eczema clients: strengthen the child’s digestive system using food as medicine— eczema is often an external indicator that internally the gut needs support. That’s why I have my clients focus on tissue regenerating food. One of those foods is none other than quality collagen. What foods contain the form of collagen beneficial for eczema? ✨Gelatin (which contains collagen) my 6m old’s fav way to get it: BONE BROTH my daughters current fav way to get it: homemade marshmallows I’ve been making gelatin gummies using quality gelatin for my first born who struggled with eczema in her first few months of life— supporting her in this way (& many other ways) has been way worth it considering her eczema days are now a thing of the past. We keep gelatin & collagen rich foods in our family’s diet year round, but recently emma requested marshmallows. So we perfected the recipe this week. Here’s a gut healthy marshmallow recipe for you & yours ☕️ Note: store bought marshmallows do not have health benefits like this one! 3 Quality Ingredients ▫️1 c filtered water ▫️3.5 Tbsp gelatin powder (get 100% grass fed & finished / organic / pasture-raised - you do not want to be feeding your family antibiotics, hormones, & drugs that are in the animals most gelatin/collagen is made from 💔 quality gelatin & collagen derived without the use of harsh chemicals is what we need to support the gut & our littles’ bodies) ▫️3 Tbsp @beekeepers_naturals superfood honey* (use MUMWITHABUN for 20% off) *omit honey for those under 12 months Method Mix gelatin with ½ c water set aside. Mix honey & ½ c water in a pot. Bring to a boil. Cover with lid & boil (2min). Combine gelatin water & hot honey water in a large bowl. patiently mix with a mixer until stiff peaks form when you lift the whisk (15min). Pour marshmallow into a glass container. Place in the fridge to harden (2hr) when it’s bouncy to touch, it’s ready. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator & enjoy! Here’s to gut health ☕️ #Mumwithabun #eczema

  2. Not all carbs are created equal → and not all rice cakes are either 👀 When you make food for addressing — digestion, eczema, gut health — store-bought isn’t always it. These homemade Korean rice cakes (garaetteok / 떡볶이 떡) are made from scratch with just 3 gut-loving ingredients: 🍚 Organic white rice (low-tox) ➕ Sea salt ➕ Coconut oil (hello, immune system & blood sugar balance!) BUT here’s the game changer: my recipe includes an easy soaking & souring step for better digestion, improved nutrient absorption, and eczema-elimination. Bonus: These freeze like a dream for up to 3–4 months (& are even healthier for you when cooled) You better believe I’m saving this batch for my 1/1/2026 New Year Rice Cake Soup. Use these homemade rice cakes to make 🍲 tteokbokki (spicy Korean rice cakes) 🍢 tteokkochi (grilled skewers) 🍜 tteokguk (New Year’s rice cake soup) ✨ Homemade | Soaked | Soured | Gut-friendly ✨ - Free from preservatives & gut disrupters - No plastic leaching - what’s not to love here? 🌿 Here’s to gut + skin health without sacrificing traditional / holiday dishes. Comment RICE CAKE or TTEOK and I’ll DM you the full recipe + exact ingredients. P.S. I’ll be using this batch for tteokkochi skewers, tteokguk soup & tteokbokki spicy rice cakes — follow @mumwithabun_nutrition so you don’t miss those. 📌 Save this post to come back when you’re ready to make it! #mumwithabun 🌿🍚 #gutfriendly #eczema #fromscratch #ricecakes #homemadericecakes #tteokbokki #koreanrecipes #eczemafood #homemadekoreanfood

  3. ✨The Magnesium Lychee Spritzer — the delicious ticket to hydration that actually works. If you’re like us, hydration is a priority - it’s critical for kids with eczema & postpartum mums. we’re not “trying to hydrate” with JUST plain water (it’s all about cellular hydration / healing the gut-skin axis) We’re deeply replenishing what our cells are actually craving: MINERALS. •Vitamin C → boosts collagen, immunity, and longevity •Potassium & Sodium → keep your cells hydrated & energy steady •Calcium & Magnesium → skin (eczema), bone, nerve, muscle, hormone, heart health In the right forms and ratios. Magnesium is the unseen hero here. The specific magnesium in my recipe is the same form your body needs & uses to regulate every cell — sadly it’s non-existent in our modern water supply & barely in our soil anymore. Postpartum moms— You’ve given your baby ~4lb (or 1.8kg) of your own minerals. No wonder you feel depleted, exhausted, and thirsty. We’re some of the most stressed humans to ever walk this earth… meaning our bodies are burning through minerals faster than ever. This spritzer is one step toward repletion — and YES it’s incredible for those on the eczema healing journey.. our little ones absolutely benefit from magnesium inside (the gut) & out (skin) 💬 Comment MINERALS for the full recipe + savings on the exact magnesium we love + my full magnesium guide (includes dosage, different forms of magnesium, and how to leverage it for eczema) ☝🏼Be sure to follow first so that IG doesn’t block my DM from going through 📍Save this for when you feel any of the following signs of magnesium depletion: headaches, fatigue, insomnia, inflammation, tooth decay, cholesterol elevation, TMJ, migraine, stiffness, osteoporosis, etc #mumwithabun #eczema #magnesium #minerals #guthealth #mitigatestress #nationalrelaxationday #stressmanagement #gatoradeseason #magnesiumspritzer as much as I benefit from this drink, full disclaimer: only Jesus can give us Living Water— “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” — John 4:14

  2. ~2 years ago i wanted to quit medicine - completely. i have wanted to be a physician ever since I was 7 years old, so this realization was quite foundation shifting. I loved medicine. But the system and the business of healthcare was in direct conflict with the actual "care" in healthcare: both for patients and their physicians. For physicians, the system contained a lack of autonomy and the prioritization of volume over value. It created a lack of boundaries between professional and personal time and criticized physicians for not reaching a target that was ever moving and unreachable from the start. The practice of medicine was no longer... beautiful. It was frustrating and filled with inadequate time, moral injury, increasing demands and expectations and dwindling support and transparency. I had personal encounters with physicians, in which I was the patient, that were.. exhausting and disheartening. I remember thinking to myself, "is this what medicine has become? Is this all that healthcare is capable of?" There are not a lot of ways to gain some semblance of control, autonomy and choice as a physician within this current healthcare system. In the reel I describe a few changes that I made, which truly felt like a breath of fresh air. Those changes helped me remember why I went into medicine and also helped me learn how to prioritize myself, professionally. There have been many amazing physicians that have exited the clinical practice of medicine since 2020 and many more plan to leave by 2025. Hopefully the content in this reel helps someone else the way that it helped me. ❤️ with love, dr chimmy, md 💋

Of all high income countries, America leads the WORLD 🌎 in worst chronic disease rates with the lowest life expectancy, which continues to decline. How do we combat this? ⬇️ - a protein forward diet. Start waking up and getting high doses of protein in within 30-60 minutes of waking + 16oz cold water - fiber sources and antioxidants should be the next importance on your plate. Stop blaming your dislike for fruits and vegetables as your reason for not consuming them, learn to cook them in ways that either hide the taste or amplify it. - move your body HOURLY. It doesn’t have to be an hourly walk or workout, but find time, 5-10 minutes to get consistent movement in. It can be done, my people do it at desk jobs, operator jobs, as SAHMs, as business men and women & so much more. - drink your damn water. So much of your body is composed of water; when you’re dehydrated, you’re going to feel low energy, lethargic, brain fog, then you’ll lose speed, strength, stamina, balance, hand eye, coordination, decision making skills. - get outside and get sunlight ☀️ - GET OFF YOUR PHONES BEFORE BED… AND THEN STAY OFF THEM FOR 30+ MINUTES AFTER WAKING. - ask people questions. Tour farms. Learn to cook. Be a beginner and stop being ashamed of it. “I’m a bad cook” or “I can’t cook” is not an excuse, learn. I’ve seen people in far harder circumstances than yours simply begin & change their life. There are little eyes watching & quite frankly there are larger eyes watching that will learn from you, observe you, become motivated by you. Let’s go to work. It’s up to us to fix this statistic, do your part.
