  1. Big bodies are capable. Many big bodies love to move. Many are strong. When given the chance many of us will gladly show you your assumptions about us have been planted and are false. I'm not mad at you for having those assumptions about me and my body or others, I had the same ones about myself because I was brainwashed too. And yet... many are runners, lifters, dancers, yoga practitioners, and everything in between just like anybody else. You might not see us on that clothing site, on that brand's social media, in your favorite yoga magazine or wherever else. You might only see us in before and after photos, in ads for weight loss, in articles about health concern, as tokens, but we are out here for ourselves and deserving of this space. Your eye is trained to see us in these spaces and find us out of place. But we belong. We are capable. I never pursued strength or movement because I thought it wasn't for me or was shamed and ridiculed for attempting either at essentially every point in life from grade school on. I saw and see the looks and hear the laughter. Of course people always change their tune when they see what I'm capable of - and doesn't that just reiterate my point? Only valid if I can shock you out of your assumptions... but you know what? That's alright. I'll keep doing my thing and being shocking with my body, with my words, with my fire, and that's exactly why I'm here. Literally here on instagram, and here as in existence. To live for me and never hold myself back. If I can give any insight to ignorance by existing, that's cool. When I move and breathe I get to be fully connected to this amazing body I disassociated from for so long and it's true peace. I don't feel drawn to posting much asana these days, but when I look at this photo I smile because I feel peace. I see my path and how much work I've done for myself against many odds. I get to keep that no matter what anybody thinks and that's the beauty of inner validation. Don't underestimate those of us in big bodies just as we shouldn't underestimate ourselves, and don't judge or shame the ones that don't impress you either. Am I promoting obesity here, too? Or am I not allowed to eat? . You don’t care about my health. Repeat: you don’t care about my health. Nobody has ever demanded the state of my mental health, or assumed to know it, by the way. You care about your own self-image, maintaining a hierarchy of bodies that perpetuates violence towards fat and marginalized people and keeps privileged bodied people feeling AND being treated as better than. You care that people who are supposed to feel shame, stay ashamed. How dare I love myself. How dare I exist. How DARE I be visible, right? So what you really mean, when you heath police me, is that you don’t think I have a right to been seen or heard at all. You don’t think I have a right to love, learn to love, or be in this body or myself until I’m visually acceptable to you or can explain and justify my body. . Disciplined bodies are not better bodies. You are not better than because you are visibly fit, I am not less than because I am visibly fat. AND, I won’t use my strength to justify my existence. . Don’t come for me when what you really mean is, it’s about you. I don’t owe you health, beauty, my time, demanded answers, or any justification for my existence. I am not harming you. I am existing, I am a person. I am tired of fat people being treated like they are nothing while also being profited off of. Guess what 68 billion dollar weight loss industry - you crumble without our insecurities. You crumble the day thin people stop attacking me for existing. I get it. I’m just not playing your game anymore. I’ll dodge and navigate you online, I’m pro at it I’ve been doing it in person for years. And I’m busy. I have important shit to do. 👌

  3. It's been two whole months since I last spoke to you! So I'm going to wish you a very belated New Years, with hopes this year has been bringing you so much magic :-) A lot's changed since I opened up to you last year... For one, I've been feeling the light turn back on inside me for the first time in almost 18 months 😎 And the process has felt like being reunited with a really old friend... An old friend that has returned from life boot camp with a shit tonne of wisdom and really, really big muscles. For two, I've been spending the past month in India thanks to a last minute curveball from my heart. And for three, Costa Rica is no longer home and I'm now back on the road, following my excitement until I find the next place to ground down. . So this evening, I spent my final sunset here taking inspiration from the piece that came to me when I first started moving around the world. Reflecting on the unknown in the journey ahead... Reflecting on how I don't need to scribble with crayons/try to figure out how to colour in this piece. Nature perfectly colours it in for me... Better than my ideas and crayons ever could. Just like the nature in my heart will perfectly colour the journey in front me, better than my mind ever could 🦋 So much change! And I have a feeling I'm not the only one ;-) Giving you all the biggest, virtual hug. - Aurora . Freedom | Instinct | Expression . Aurora whispers tales of freedom. If we never stray outside of our routine, we’re less likely to cross paths with the sources of inspiration that lead to new levels of growth. Instead, we must regularly find the motivation to expand our comfort zones and, in doing so, explore the outermost corners of our potential. As we adventure outside of the familiar and step into our hearts, we’re reminded of our true essence. The art of expanding echoes the limitless nature of our self expression.
