  3. Normalize living in reality. It should not be seen as a radical act—it is, in fact, the opposite. And really, it’s only through deradicalization that one can shed the illusions of this radically abnormal society and gain the clarity needed to live life consciously. Israel first is America first bc "America" and "Israel" are the same thing. It is the only democracy in the Middle East bc the US sets the standard for "democracy" around the world. What we’re failing to understand is that neither "America" nor "democracy" was ever built for us in the first place. You don't have to identify with the colonial projects of our depraved, white supremacist, and capitalist ruling class but since you were born on lands they stole—it does require that you separate yourself from them. The default framework of thinking in these places justifies everything our empire does and holds us back from making any real progress. The "America" you want to fix isnt broken. This is the same place it's always been and it's working the same way it always has. Fascism is the universal language spoken by our ruling class when they need to keep workers in line but it's the status quo for colonized & racialized people. Just bc you weren't the target yesterday doesn't mean you can't be today. And contrary to popular belief, when hundreds of millions of innocent people are slaughtered by this empire, real people die, even tho you weren't around to see it. The progressive "American" is someone who can watch the politicians they vote for justify the mass slaughter of children by morning, then go online to promote & defend them by night. It's time to understand that anyone who can be coerced into rationalizing the killing of kids anywhere is a danger to children everywhere. And that the enemies of colonizers should and could be our friends. But if we continue to justify and whitewash to minimize and equalize everything up until the very end—once the revolution comes and this place finally falls how do you expect anyone to know the difference between you and the fascists? It's time to pick a side. The world's colonizers? Or the people and the places trying to liberate it from them? #normal

  1. ✨ Pétrus: A Legend of the Right Bank ✨ Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, Pétrus is synonymous with prestige, luxury, and unparalleled winemaking excellence. While not classified like its Left Bank counterparts, Pétrus has earned its place among the greatest wines in the world thanks to its remarkable terroir, meticulous winemaking, and singular focus on Merlot. The estate spans just 11.5 hectares (swipe left), situated on a unique plateau of blue clay—a rare soil composition that lends Pétrus its exceptional structure, power, and longevity. Grapes here are handpicked at the peak of ripeness, with only the finest fruit making it into the iconic wine. What makes Pétrus truly special? Its capacity to balance immense power with finesse and elegance. Young bottles showcase opulent fruit and velvety textures, while older vintages reveal extraordinary complexity and layers of secondary and tertiary notes. 🍷 Tasting Note: 1978 Pétrus We recently tasted the 1978 vintage. This vintage is a testament to the longevity of Pétrus, proving that even in challenging growing seasons, this wine shines. This wine opened in the glass and unveiled aromas of dried figs, leather, cedar, and a whisper of black truffle. On the palate, it delivered a silky texture with flavors of plum compote, tobacco leaf, and a touch of dark chocolate, balanced by vibrant acidity and a mineral backbone. The finish was long, lingering. 💡 Fun Fact: Did you know that Pétrus was one of the first estates to embrace single-varietal Merlot winemaking? This bold decision redefined the perception of Merlot and elevated its status as a grape capable of producing world-class wines. Important Reminder: This post is intended for those of legal drinking age and is for educational purposes only. Please enjoy responsibly. Do you enjoy any wines made with 100% Merlot? 1. La Croix Rouge 2014 - Bruyère Houillon 🍇 Chardonnay 🇨🇵 Jura, Arbois While studying gastronomy in Tain l'Hermitage, Rhône, Renaud Bruyère and Adeline Houillon met and after a few years in ‘04 the couple decided to settle with Adeline’s family residing in the village of Pupillin. Together with her brothers Aurélien & Emmanuel Houillon, Adeline worked at the domain of Pierre Overnoy while Renaud was employed by Stéphane Tissot. In ‘07 they tried to make a first small vintage and a few progressive years of experimentation followed while Overnoy & Tissot remained employers. A moment of landmark came in ‘11 when Stéphane gave the encouraging opportunity to take over les Tourillons, a high, small Arboisian parcel of 0.7ha. with old Chardonnay, Savagnin & Trousseau vines from the 70’s. A wonderful chance they took, directly cultivating organically and naturally vinified their first vintage in their home cellar that same year. Gradually they expanded to 5ha. of vineyards; en Aspis in Arbois-Pupillin, La Croix Rouge & Les Tourillons in Arbois, Les Nouvelles in Mesnay & en Gaillard in Montigny-les-Arsures, all respectfully cultivated, biodynamically inspired, manually harvested, naturally vinified parcellaire. La Croix Rouge ‘14 comes from a 1.1 ha vineyard with ~30 year old vines growing on calcareous clay soils, facing N-W at 380m below Pupillin. The grapes are manually harvested and destemmed, then directly pressed and spontaneously fermented. Seemingly this vintage was still aged in barrels, newer vintages mention inox. Bottled unfiltered without added SO2. 🍷 The wine is faintly hazy medium gold. With soothing seducing finesse and gracious gastronomic grace, the medium intense delicate developing bouquet entices with finely saline fragrances of ripe yellow apple, quince, lemon pie, honeysuckle, barley, cold stones & resin. On the palate the wine is dry medium body. Gorgeous invigorating acidity is ably balanced with eloquent youthful flavors of lemon, lime & green apple that with a discreet zesty bitter fade over a bright mineral undertow in a lengthy, commendable crystalline stable finish ending with a pinch of pepper, a touch of toast and a hint of ginger.

  2. Fanino 2014 - Serragghia 🍇 Catarratto, Pignatello 🇮🇹 Pantelleria 🏝️🌋🏺 While working as a natural wine loving architect in Milan, Gabrio Bini frequently retreated to the island of Pantelleria. Situated in the Strait of Sicily ~80 km from the Tunisian coast, it is known as the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean or Bint al-Riyāḥ ‘Daughter of the Winds’, due to its imposing rugged volcanic landscape, exposure to harsh sea winds and the hot North African sun. Fascinated by the island’s unique, treasurable terroir, some land was acquired in ‘93, which included 0.7 ha. of old vines that Gabrio instinctively cherished. The visit of a good friend, a distinguished oenology teacher at the University of Milan was catalytic when he praised the vine's quality and suggested vinifying the small yield in buried, preferred Spanish amphorae for optimal expression of terroir and for Bini this vinification vessel was revelatory, inspiring deep admiration. Educational expeditions to Georgia followed, and Serragghia was founded in ‘05. Today, it has expanded to 8 ha. of serene, panoramic completely chemical-free vineyards above the volcanic tectonically collapsed Caldera La Vecchia di Serra di Ghirlanda on the fecund southern slopes of Monte Gibele, the island’s main volcano. Now with his son Giotto at helm, Catarratto, Pignatello, Moskatel, Caringnan, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Savagnin vines are grown low yielding with up to 150 years old Zibibbo. Double cropping is performed where tart second grapes are harvested, vinified separately later and blended in a small ratio to further bolster the 7-months macerated primary wine's preservation. 🍷 Fanino ‘14 is hazy medium milky-amber/copper. With a reviving edge of VA, the sensationally sauvage, pronounced bouquet exhilarates with fine riveting fragrances of grapefruit, peach, prunes, salted lime, guava, rose, mint, rubber, tomato, chalk and rusk. Palate; dry, body M. Vibrant acidity is poised with smooth tannins and fluent flavors of pomelo, lime, elderflower, baked strawberry, dried apricot, plum, kumquat, pepper and toast that fade in a lengthy pristine finely spicy finish ending with delicate bitters. ⬇️ Tech facts ⬇️

  3. Love Me Hate Me 2016 - Nestarec 🍇 Gewürztraminer 🇨🇿 Morava, Velké Bílovice A year after Milan's birth, in 1989 the Velvet Revolution led to the split of Czechoslovakia into the Czech and Slovak Republics. During this period of reform, as the state restituted communist-confiscated land to its citizens, Milan's father revitalized the family's viticultural heritage and prolifically began working in a German vine nursery while restoring their winery. Devotedly, constantly the regained land was enlarged by investing profit made by bulk wine sales. With the full family workforce intensively involved, Milan gained worthy skill by tirelessly working the land and was trusted taking responsibility for voluminous vinification choices at the age of 16. While studying viticulture in Brno conventional conformity conflicted and free spirited he coursed to crucial organic cultivation after encountering the wines by Leroy and Dagenneau. But mostly an epochal journey to Brda and Collio tasting Movia’s ‘06-’08 Puro and Lunar along the elation of Radikon and Gravner’s illustrious amber was pivotal for the shift to natural “normal” vinification in 2009. In his ever evolving voyage, the amber revolution's zeitgeist led to the controversial Czech, anarchistic adaptation of bold white maceration. But with this wine we travel back to old school times he calls “a vital happyness evoking snapshot of a period”. It was crafted only twice, ‘16 concluded. Nowadays in liberty he steers into a different direction, in tabula rasa respectfully reflecting the genius loci of his roots, focused on old vine nuance, elegance, energy and balance. Quality, consistency and longevity. 🍷 Love Me Hate Me ‘16 is hazy pale amber. With fine fraîcheur the voluptuous profuse bouquet welcomes with sauvage saline fragrances of orange blossom, grapefruit, tangerine, dried apricot, bruised apple, dried rose / turkish delight, toast and musk. On the palate; dry, medium body. Tangy, spiky, acidity swings with silky tannins and fluent flavors of lime, tart pineapple, grapefruit, mango and spicy ginger that fade in a lengthy peppery finish ending with a touch of toast and brush of brett. ⬇️ Tech facts ⬇️
