Before the Hayden Lane revitalisation project began, rubbish bins were just left in the lane all the time. While bins are a necessity, they were also the biggest attractors of illegal dumping. When we started the project, we printed plenty of flyers and distributed them to neighbors and businesses, recommending that we all improve our rubbish bin management. Now, bins are taken out the night before collection and brought back in the following day. Keeping our bins inside premises has been a huge contributor to almost eliminating illegal dumping.   2. A break from the blue variety. This is my only oriental Poppy left as I lost ‘Pattys Plum’ over winter but thankfully this has gone nuts this year, I counted 15 buds! It’s called ‘Princess Victoria Louise’ and the blooms are as big as my hand, they’ve been battered by the wind and rain but so has everything else to be honest. Have you had any wind damage?

Nearly dahlia growing time!… This time last year I had potted up the dahlias in the garage to give them a head start but personally I think it was waaay too early and it affected their growth (I could be wrong). The previous year they were amazing and I started them mid March…so that’s what I’m going to do this year. Unbelievably I’ve lost NO dahlias to rot or gall which is amazing as I usually bin a few, I also haven’t bought any new ones…far too skint. We’ve had to get a new car windscreen because Theo’s head has cracked it 🤦🏻‍♂️ Sarah put the car seat in the front seat, Theo stood up from the seat and whacked his head on the windscreen and completely cracked it… no tears…nothing. I swear his skull is made of granite 😆 #dahlias #summerflowers #gardening

  2. 🇬🇧Hey gardening friends, I hope you are fine. Today i went to a gardencenter and bought a few shrubs and I took a photo of this stunning blue-violet highlight! Anemone nemorosa ‘Royal Blue‘ is starting its wonderful blue flower. With an height of 10 cm it is more compact than other Anemone nemorosa varieties. Here in Germany it is a native spring bulb. Mainly Anemone nemorosa are growing in beech forests. In spring they enjoy the sun under the leaf-free beeches. During summer they like it more shady. They love fresh soil and are also quite drought tolerant. Anemone nemorosa ‘Royal Blue‘ is slowly growing at the beginning but after a certain time it is establishing real meadows. Anemone nemorosa ‘Royal Blue‘ blüht von April bis Mai ein wunderschönem Violett-Blau. Hier in Deutschland sind Buschwindröschen heimisch. Sie wachsen bevorzugt in Buchenwäldern, wo sie im Frühjahr die Sonne und über den Sommer hinweg den kühlen Schatten genießen. Sie wachsen am liebsten auf frischen Böden. Anemone nemorosa ‘Royal Blue‘ wächst anfangs relativ zaghaft, bildet jedoch mit der Zeit ganze Wiesen. Man kann sie toll mit anderen Anemonen, Puschkinia, Galanthus oder Chionodoxa kombinieren.   1. We always seem to have a minimum of two Christmas trees here at Mossy Ledge Farm. There’s typically a very full one in the living room - it needs to be pretty substantial to accommodate our always-growing collection of ornaments. And then there’s a second tree which comes from the forest behind the house and which usually gets set up in the sunroom.
