This week, Hannah’s in Seaview on the north east side of the Island, where she swims a couple of times a week with her mum (all year round!). “Quay Rocks is great because unlike many beaches on the Island, you can get a decent swim whatever the tide is doing,” she says. “But when the tide is right, I really love swimming at Seagrove Bay - it’s a little more effort to get there but it’s well worth it, even on a misty day like this!” Hannah wears our Winnie beach skirt in navy towelling cotton, and is also keeping warm in a pair of our snuggly merino boot socks.

The relationship I have with my body, and my clothes, is still really complex… Like most, I am working on undoing years of harmful rhetoric and learning I am very happy now, but it’s taken an insane amount of work, mentally, physically, spiritually and socially. And I still have days where the work I’ve put in is just not enough to quiet my inner critic I WISH I had known to size up, go baggy, and ignore the size on the label so much earlier. If I’d have let go of flattering earlier, it would have saved me so much trauma, so much negative self image, and ultimately money… So let me be the one to tell you; baggy clothes are not the enemy, your clothes making you look as small as possible is not the goal, buying a bigger size does not undo your self worth, flattering is a concept you can let go of… If anything, buying a bigger size is what makes my wardrobe feel curated and cool because there’s more shape to play with! I hope this reaches as many people as possible… I give you permission to dress for yourself, dress for joy, dress for happiness, dress for fun, and not for flattering…do you give YOURSELF permission? It’s been such a journey for me, to find this sort of style, and it has truly changed the game…and really it’s not about style, it’s about letting go of what I believed to be the “right way” to dress for my body & what was most appealing and appeasing to anyone else but myself… My style changes daily (although I am firmly in jumper and jeans phase, with a lorra blue!), and I am not one style - and that’s ok too! Life update: Today, I beat cancer! 👊🏼 First of all, I wanna thank the Lord for giving me a second life. 🙏🏼 Few days before my operation, I was in extreme anxiety but I hold on to His words in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” -And He did! ❤️ Thank you @tghcares for the warm accommodation. Thankful for all the nurses who took care of me - Teresa, Janice, Barbara, Sue, Rekha, Shelby, Yolanda and to all the transport guys, thank you for a smooth transition from operating room, recovery room and patient’s room. To my doctors/surgeons - Dr. Bukkapatnam and Dr. Sirohi thank you so much! They successfully removed cancer in my left kidney through robotic (Da Vinci) laparoscopic partial nephrectomy procedure and my kidney is still in tact! Praise God! 🙌🏼 Shoutout to my dear husband who’s always there for me. I wouldn’t have done this without your love and support. I love you sweetie! ❤️😘 PS - To my mom, who wasn’t able to fight cancer 23 years ago. I wasn’t gonna let cancer take me without putting up a fight. This is for you Mama! ❤️ To everyone who’s still here, thank you so much guys! I’ll just need sometime to rest and recover and will come back soon! I miss you all! I’ve always loved going to this part of the OC as a teenager - I’d go thrifting, take cool pictures, work on my laptop, and meet friends for coffee. It’s been a little creative eco-haven for me, which makes the addition of a zero waste shop, @eco.now.ca, extra exciting. . Have you been intimidated to buy bulk, or confused on how to calculate tare weight of your mason jars? 🙋🏼‍♀️ Shops like this make it so simple and *not* intimidating. I encourage you to find one in your area to kick off your curiosity on how pros like Bea of @zerowastehome and Lauren of @trashisfortossers have mastered the art of zero waste living (I haven’t quite got there yet)! .   2. another year around the sun, hello twenty six ✨ saving the sappiness for my journal but sharing some pics of smiley me cause it’s been a while — thank you for all the bday msgs (I feel so loved and I appreciate you so much) though this past year was the hardest and loneliest year of my life, I’m grateful for the growth and healing it allowed and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come... with embracing my Asian heritage and unlearning racial conditioning, connecting with myself and holding compassionate space for my needs, and learning how to win the daily battle against my depression (wouldn’t have believed you a year ago if you told me my bathroom mirror would be full of sticky notes hyping me up — I love it though and highly recommend hehe) despite the highs and the super low lows, I really believe there’s a lesson in everything and that the universe has its plan — and when it’s hard to believe, I’ve loved @morganharpernichols’ mantra “I haven’t seen everything I was meant to see” 🤎 here’s to another year learning to reclaim rest & joy, and helping tear down the systems of oppression and racism (in the fashion industry and beyond) #sustainablestyle #ethicalfashion #oootd
