  3. God saved my life. As the year comes to a close, I want to specifically thank God publicly for His mercies. I woke up one day with the gut feeling that the life I lived from January wasn’t normal. Short breaths, dizzy eyes, and a constant life of fatigue. No vacation, no sabbatical, no retreat or day off solved it. By an inch, God saved me! Landed in Nigeria, and it went all spiral from there and I understood why the Holy Spirit nudged me to go home, He wanted to preserve my life. Many nights were blurry. I faced what I would call a near death experience. Oxygen, medications, numerous injections. Most importantly, intense prayers and covering from home and church. My family camped at hospital, my friends making rounds, and so much more. Never being more afraid of any day like those days One night, I remembered saying to my sister “I don’t want to die” Then I remember that sons don’t beg. I have a father who loves me and I can make demands. I’m okay. Getting better and just here to say the devil always loses his game! I am not one to come here for pity, so this is not a pity post. It’s a gratitude post. It could have been another story but I get to tell it, and I will not be silent about God’s goodness towards me. Ironically, this was the year I did so much.

And now, there’s more. I found another name—Zhongshan Zuoyo—on a piece of paper in one of her videos. That supplier is also listed on Alibaba(cc: Whitney Rose’s Prism brand lmfao) This video isn’t to encourage dropshipping from Alibaba. It’s to get you thinking about what you’re really buying from brands like Parke’s. It may not be quality, sustainability, or ethics. It’s the illusion of fitting in, or getting closer to the lifestyle she promotes. But the truth is, you’re not getting closer, you’re just funding it. All observations shared are based on publicly available information and my personal opinion as a sustainability researcher. So For Love & Lemons wants us to pay over $200 for stuff that’s mostly polyester (with a little cotton or viscose mixed in)... but won’t tell us who made it, where it’s made, or how those people are treated? They used to share more info... like back in 2020 you could actually find stuff about their suppliers. Now there’s nothing. No sourcing info. No certifications. Nothing about labor or sustainability. I even tried to track down their logistics and shipping partners, but it all leads to vague addresses or companies with barely any public info. Sydney Sweeney’s lingerie brand Syrn claims to “celebrate women in all their forms.” But like a lot of clothing built on pseudo-feminist marketing, that empowerment message gets a little blurry when you look at who is actually making the clothes. Because in the case of Syrn, they are not being made in some cute little feminist atelier in LA. I connected Syrn to Brandix, Sri Lanka’s largest garment manufacturer, which, once you dig past the press releases, has a long and complicated history when it comes to the treatment of garment workers — the vast majority of whom are, you guessed it, women!!!!! My shoes are pre-loved designer and sold out on @bohboathens , the corset is thrifted and I made the rest of the dress from leftover scrap fabric I collected at a wedding atelier that I worked at many years ago. I wish I had had more time to devote on making the dress but I'm proud that at least I managed to finish it, even though I ended up looking like a shipwrecked fairy.   2. A few weeks ago, on the 22nd of October I turned 30 and so a new decade of my life begins. As a fresh, green 20-year-old I pictured my thirties as the finish line, the final destination for all of life’s struggles, milestones and achievements, this has clearly not been the case. For better and for worse. 30 for women is seen as our expiration date, the point of no return where your face shrivels up and a magical alarm in your ovaries is set off, forcing you to trap any available man and procreate with them. Although it’s true my ass has seen better days and my energy levels aren’t what they used to be, the truth is, I love being older. Best part about it? Smelling bullshit from kilometers away. Being naive and gullible was the bane of my youth and there’s nothing really quite as empowering as reading peoples intentions. Another favorite part of being older? Having a much clearer understanding of who I am and to get that I had to question everything. I questioned religion, education, having kids, work, what my ethics were, what I ate, what I wore, what I bought, class, relationships, sexuality (the questioning never really ends) and I chose to reject a lot of the cultural and societal boxes that are expected of a woman my age to fit into. If I did anything right in my 20s, it was disregarding normality and allowing myself to grow as offensively and unconventionally as I desired.

Sorry for the flex but I needed to remind myself of everything that was achieved in 2019 because sometimes I end up feeling like all my efforts are futile and that's definitely not the case! So here it goes, this year, in Hamburg I spoke at @conscious_loft about greenwashing and veganism, I took part in the Athens climate march as so many people around the globe are waking up and finally demanding climate justice. A video on my channel reached 3 million views! I talked about veganism and ethical fashion on @instylegreece , I was interviewed by @voguegreece , named as one of the top 5 sustainability influencers by @voguejapan and I wore a thrifted outfit at the @voguegreece opening party FOR ONLY €2, because you can always have fun with fashion, ethically, sustainably and on a budget. Finally, I was also interviewed for @kathimerini and @shapemaggr I'm so grateful to everyone this year that offered me their platforms and allowed me to talk to their audience about ethical living, veganism and sustainable fashion. Thank you, to every single one of you that reached out to me to let me know you've gone vegan, quit fast fashion and radically changed the way you consume. Thank you Patrons, for making everything I did this year so much easier to accomplish. I took some time off this last month to recharge because 2020 is starting off with a bang and I can't wait to be able to tell you more about it. The 20's are here, let's make this the decade of compassion, for all humans, workers, animals and our beautiful planet.

LONG LIVE WEARING YOUR PERSONALITY 🩷 The History of bag charms and the next big trend✨ 🕊️The chatalain which Began as a decorative hook attached to a belt, with chains suspending household items, reminds me of todays shift to keeping our belongs displayed outside of bags on bag charms or even phone cases. Popular in the 16th-17th Centuries it wasnt until the 19th century that they became less utility and more fashion. Variations were worn by housekeepers, nurses, and eventually adopted by high society women. They were seen as a “portable toolkit,” carrying items like scissors, vials, and writing instruments. They brecame a fashionable way to showcase your personale hobbies and style. Its interesting how no matter how far back you go in history we have always been obsessed with asserting our individuality or personal style in some way! Like bag charms, they acted as a way of communicating or social signaling . Before chatting you could tell what you might have in common weather its a labubu or a for the 19th century women a thimble. Jewllers like Tiffany & Co, Liberty and Sampson Mordan picked up on the tend and began prodcuign their own ornate designs, and I feel like these could still be styled really well today. What I love about the chatlain is that it isnt simply about self expression it has a use, and those are my favourite bag charms things like antique bottle openers lighters and lipglosses. There usefulness makes the fashion statement feel far more nonchalant and less forced. I hope this reaches as many people as possible… I give you permission to dress for yourself, dress for joy, dress for happiness, dress for fun, and not for flattering…do you give YOURSELF permission?   1. This was my first rented dress and honestly, this was not what I expected! 🫣 I did not expect the sizing for House of Cb to be so strange! I’m normally a size S (UK 8-10) and could not do the back of this dress up! I was going to try and do the zip up but of course, it’s rented, so did not want to break it! Sizing can vary when you can’t try clothes on in advance. Do you think being sustainable can sometimes backfire? Life update: Today, I beat cancer! 👊🏼 First of all, I wanna thank the Lord for giving me a second life. 🙏🏼 Few days before my operation, I was in extreme anxiety but I hold on to His words in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” -And He did! ❤️ Thank you @tghcares for the warm accommodation. Thankful for all the nurses who took care of me - Teresa, Janice, Barbara, Sue, Rekha, Shelby, Yolanda and to all the transport guys, thank you for a smooth transition from operating room, recovery room and patient’s room. To my doctors/surgeons - Dr. Bukkapatnam and Dr. Sirohi thank you so much! They successfully removed cancer in my left kidney through robotic (Da Vinci) laparoscopic partial nephrectomy procedure and my kidney is still in tact! Praise God! 🙌🏼 Shoutout to my dear husband who’s always there for me. I wouldn’t have done this without your love and support. I love you sweetie! ❤️😘 PS - To my mom, who wasn’t able to fight cancer 23 years ago. I wasn’t gonna let cancer take me without putting up a fight. This is for you Mama! ❤️ To everyone who’s still here, thank you so much guys! I’ll just need sometime to rest and recover and will come back soon! I miss you all!   3. I’m so excited Costa Mesa has a new zero waste store!!! I’ve always loved going to this part of the OC as a teenager - I’d go thrifting, take cool pictures, work on my laptop, and meet friends for coffee. It’s been a little creative eco-haven for me, which makes the addition of a zero waste shop, @eco.now.ca, extra exciting. . Have you been intimidated to buy bulk, or confused on how to calculate tare weight of your mason jars? 🙋🏼‍♀️ Shops like this make it so simple and *not* intimidating. I encourage you to find one in your area to kick off your curiosity on how pros like Bea of @zerowastehome and Lauren of @trashisfortossers have mastered the art of zero waste living (I haven’t quite got there yet)! .   2. another year around the sun, hello twenty six ✨ saving the sappiness for my journal but sharing some pics of smiley me cause it’s been a while — thank you for all the bday msgs (I feel so loved and I appreciate you so much) though this past year was the hardest and loneliest year of my life, I’m grateful for the growth and healing it allowed and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come... with embracing my Asian heritage and unlearning racial conditioning, connecting with myself and holding compassionate space for my needs, and learning how to win the daily battle against my depression (wouldn’t have believed you a year ago if you told me my bathroom mirror would be full of sticky notes hyping me up — I love it though and highly recommend hehe) despite the highs and the super low lows, I really believe there’s a lesson in everything and that the universe has its plan — and when it’s hard to believe, I’ve loved @morganharpernichols’ mantra “I haven’t seen everything I was meant to see” 🤎 here’s to another year learning to reclaim rest & joy, and helping tear down the systems of oppression and racism (in the fashion industry and beyond) #sustainablestyle #ethicalfashion #oootd
