  3. oops, I haven’t shared anything about sailing the world. yes, I survived. and now it’s time to share what it looked like with everyone who cheered me on along the way. enjoy this video full of silly and fun clips captured throughout the year :) If you know me you’ve probably heard me talking about this dream for the last couple years of my life. 11 months on the craziest job I’ve ever worked and 40,000+ NM sailed later, I’ve accomplished my childhood dream of circumnavigating the globe. It’s hard to sum up the enormity of this experience into an instagram post. I’ve lived the extreme highs and intense lows that life at sea presents. While working for @clipperrace, I wasn’t a part of just one team this year but nine different teams. I’d hop on board a different boat after each stop to document the race from another perspective. I lived in close quarters with 174 different crew, spending my days telling their stories and sailing along side them through the good and the bad. This year has challenged me and tore me apart while simultaneously showing me sides of myself I didn’t know existed. I changed before my eyes and actually loved who I was becoming. I didn’t know I could love this deep or feel this low. I found confidence again and lost it and I think I’m finding it once more. Slowly. And I am proud to say I’ve come out more resilient because of it. I now know I can handle more than I thought, and that I can work harder than I believed I could. When I inevitably doubt this about myself, I get to look back on these 328 days to prove my wildly insecure self wrong. It’ll be nice to have hard evidence of what I am capable of for the moments when life does what it does best and tries to tell me I’m not good enough. more to come

  2. Se mi avessero detto qualche anno fa che direzione avrebbe preso la mia vita avrei detto che parlava di qualcun altro. Ed oggi invece eccomi qui, a festeggiare i miei 27 anni a Bali, ad un tavolo di amici che mi sembra di conoscere da una vita, ma conosciuti tutti qui, godendoci un’ottima cena proprio a quella famosa Echo Beach. Lavorando da remoto facendo ciò che amo, con i piedi nella sabbia, dopo aver lasciato quella famosa Milano dove mi dicevano che ero fuori di testa ad andarmene, perché era troppo presto, perché le opportunità sono qui. Dopo aver lasciato un lavoro a Napoli speciale sentendomi persa: e mo dove vado? Che faccio? Dopo anni passati a cercare qualcuno che mi completasse, mi accorgo invece che tutto quello che voglio è già dentro di me. Dove mai come ora apprezzo la solitudine ed addirittura ne ho bisogno. Dopo anni in cui si, mi ha sempre incuriosito tutto, ma qual’è il mio hobby? Ce l’hai una passione sulla quale concentrarti? E questa foto è un po’ il riassunto. Perché è progresso, è quel famoso “trust the process” di cui tutti parlano. Svegliati, buttati a mare, caldo o freddo che sia, allenati, cadi, letteralmente affoga, fatti male, e attento agli scogli, attento che è pericoloso. E ti fanno male le spalle le braccia la schiena. E ti sei tagliato. E che fatica paddle paddle paddle. Ore intere ad aspettare quella mezza onda in croce che non arriva mai, ma prima o poi una deve arrivare. Cadi e cadi e cadi e la lavatrice ti butta sotto e aiuto ora affogo. Ma poi? Ma poi domani ci voglio tornare, e lo voglio fare ancora. Perché mi sta insegnando la bellezza della costanza e del saper aspettare prima di vedere i risultati. Quindi auguri a me, che sto costruendo esattamente quello che voglio, mentre gli altri mi urlano che è pericoloso e che “chi te lo fa fare”. Altri mille anni così. Tutto quello che sto facendo è per la me di 16 anni. E si, nella foto ci sono almeno 25 cose sbagliate, motivo per cui non vedo l’ora di andare a rifarlo domani. Buon compleanno a me
