  3. Read here👇🏼👇🏼 I’m pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say we all want our wigs to look natural. I also completely understand how confusing it is as a new wig wearer to know what you’re looking at in a wig and understand all this lingo. So here is a quick rundown of some features you may want on a wig cap to make it look as natural as possible. 1) Lace front- this gives you the illusion of growth from your hairline and allows you to change the part. 2) Monofilament top- this is a lace like material that gives you the illusion of a part line and lets you change the part. 3) OR instead, you could get a monofilament PART. This still gives you the illusion of a part line but only allows parting versatility within about a 1 inch section. 4)low density- this refers to the amount of hair on the wig. Too much density can feel unnatural to someone who has been experiencing hairloss and thinning for a while. 5) Minimal permatease-this is a back combing effect at the root of the wig that gives permanent volume. 6) Hand tied cap- this gives you a very comfortable and luxurious feeling cap and allows the hair to move more freely. What feature do you always make sure to look for on your wigs? Wigs: 1) Dalgona 16 Hand Tied by Belle tress in Butterbeer Blonde 2)Scene Stealer by Raquel Welch in RL 14/22 Pale Gold Wheat 3) Amaretto by Belle Tress in Cookies & Cream Blonde 4) Drive by Ellen Wille in Espresso Mix #Hair #hairloss #alopecia #wig #wigs #lacefront #hairlosssisters #wigsforhairloss #alopeciaareata

  3. Alopecia Awareness with @ginaatinukeknight and @relightalopecia 🩵 Alopecia is an umbrella term for partial or complete hair loss from the scalp or elsewhere on the body and 2% of people globally are impacted by alopecia areata, a chronic autoimmune condition. There are several types of alopecia like alopecia totalis, the complete loss of hair on the scalp, alopecia universalis, the complete loss of hair on the scalp and body. And very normalized forms of alopecia like androgenetic alopecia popularly known as “male pattern baldness” even though it’s not exclusive to men. Many beauty standards emphasize long, flowing hair, especially for women. But regardless of gender, alopecia can affect self-image. Navigating this can be complicated. Not everyone seeks out treatment like steroids, topical creams, or hair transplants but they are available. And conditions like traction alopecia can be prevented by making sure that your braids or ponytails are not too tight. If someone with alopecia uses tools like eyebrow tattoos, wigs, or head coverings, that’s up to them. But we should also feel empowered not to. More and more people are being vocal about having alopecia which is shifting the narrative and challenging one-dimensional depictions. Alopecia can be difficult. Not because of the condition itself, but because of the assumptions, intrusive questions, stares, and rude comments we face. EXTRA CREDIT 📝 Do you or someone you know have alopecia? Did you know that it’s an umbrella term for hair loss and also specific conditions? How can we better support people with alopecia?

  1. Let’s normalise hair loss and wigs!👩‍🦲🧑‍🦲 * for those knowing better that it “is normalised”, stay tuned for a new post with more about this x There is no way I will let a wig bother me for the entire day when I can just take it off. Of course, this will not apply for everyone and that is absolutely okay. Never feel pressured into taking your wig off. When I have a bad day, I would not do it either😉 The point is, can we make this normal? As normal as taking off your jacket? As normal as taking off your scarf? 💃🏽 My friends filmed this and were in no way embarrassed of me doing this. They even stared right back people staring at me, to support 🙂 But in all honesty, we should feel free to do what we want. To wear or not wear a wig. To wear a wig and take it off in public. It should not be weird. It should be our own choice. Of course, people will look and stare, people will comment. But let them. Also know that they will do this with everything that is slightly different, not just us with hair loss. If I am even more honest, I cannot confirm 100% that I would not have looked at others if I never had alopecia. Therefore, it does not make me angry when people look at me (staring is a different story). I even heard someone say “avatar”, and I think it was aimed at me. Well, I see that as a compliment 💦🔥💨🌎 Moral of the story; don’t be afraid to show the world your beautiful bald / patchy head! You are gorgeous regardless. Also, never feel the need to do this if you don’t want to! Let’s normalise hair loss and wigs 💜
