  2. #PrayerRequest Recent Near Death Surgery Gone Wrong with Cheryl Shuman This video was taken in the ICU at the hospital. I will be making a new updated video soon. Several weeks ago I was walking my two dogs when my back and legs locked up and I fell face down on the sidewalk. I was rushed to the hospital for emergency spinal surgery. When the doctors asked me if I had any bad or allergic reactions to any type of drugs, I made it clear that My body reacted very negatively to Fentynal (spelling?). Halfway through the surgery, I went into full respiratory failure. It literally almost killed me! It has been 5 weeks since the surgery. I found out yesterday that "someone was not paying attention" and ended up in fact putting fentanyl into the IV. I'm home from the hospital now, thank God! Thanks to all of you for your support! My recovery is challenging because my body was without oxygen for so long so my brain is cloudy and it takes me much longer to gather my thoughts than it used to. I’m fighting desperately to walk again but that is also challenging after being in bed in the hospital for close to eight weeks. When I walk my legs feel like Jell-O and they won’t hold me up anymore. They say that my legs will strengthen and I have to keep trying if I have hopes of walking. The muscles in my legs have atrophy Because they weren’t used. I’m trying to keep a strong front but honestly I’m terrified that my life as I knew it might be over. I have been crying so hard it’s hard to catch my breath. At the moment with my histoplasmosis and asthma I only have about 30% breathing capacity after the damage done by the surgery. I am angry at the doctors for putting me in this position when they “should’ve been paying more attention“ as the doctor put it this is my life not just someone’s indiscretion they almost killed me. Ordinarily I keep these things to myself but I’m reaching out because I need some moral support I’m so truly terrified but I wake up at I’m terrified because I know my life is never going to be the same again

  1. When I, and so many other parents, drop our kids off at school each morning we let them out of the car, kiss them goodbye, and tell them that we will see them later. As we drive away, we fight back the anxiety and fear as we wonder if what happened today in Texas - what has been happening since 1999 - will happen in our children’s school, and that there will be no seeing them later. It has been 10 years since Newtown and 23 years since Columbine. Nothing has changed. Thus far, the only time this country has been able to stop mass shootings was during a global pandemic shutdown. That has been our only accidental, preventative measure. I could list all of the reasons that our country is broken, but right now all I can think about are the broken hearts of the parents who lost their babies, of the surviving children, staff, and teachers who will never be the same, and selfishly of my own heart that was spared the unbelievable agony of losing my children this time. This time. I didn’t lose my children this time, but there is always a next time, and we all seem to have just accepted this as our reality and pray that it does not happen to us. How is this OK? Someone please explain to me how we are STILL not dealing with this public health crisis? And, make no mistake, that’s exactly what this is. And, please, spare me from your pro-gun/2nd amendment lectures. I am a responsible gun owner. This is far deeper than a 2nd amendment issue. I am heartbroken, I am angry, and I am terrified. How do we make this stop!? We can not continue down this road. There is a national game of Russian Roulette being played with our children for god’s sake! I’m tired of asking for it to stop, I just want to know HOW we make it stop and take action. My heart is with the families in Texas, the rest of me is just plain furious. #💔 #schoolshootings #momsrising #makeitstop #massshooting #theseareourchildren #texas #robbelementaryschool
