  3. Winter camping isn’t about being tough , t’s about having a system that keeps you warm, safe, and actually enjoying the adventure. If you’ve been scared to try it, I get it. I used to think winter camping meant losing circulation in my toes and sleeping in misery too 😂
But once I learned the basics of heat management + moisture control, everything changed. Here’s the truth nobody tells you: 🔥 You don’t need a -30°C sleeping bag
❄️ You don’t need to suffer to have fun
💨 Wind protection matters more than you think
❄️ Cold doesn’t kill trips, moisture does If you follow these 5 rules from my reel: 1. Prioritize R-value over sleeping bag rating
 2. Stay dry (moisture = cold)
 3. Fuel your body to stay warm
 4. Use a hot water bottle heat boost
 5. Shelter smart and block wind
…winter camping becomes cozy, rewarding, and honestly? More peaceful than summer camping. No crowds. No bugs. Just quiet mountains and a crackling stove under the stars. ✨ If you want to try winter camping but don’t know where to start, I made something for you 👇
I put together my Lightweight Winter Camping Checklist with everything I pack for cold-weather backpacking, gear, clothing, sleep system, etc. Want it?
⬇️
Comment WINTER and I’ll send it to you. Let’s get more people outside this season ❄️🔥 What’s the coldest temperature you’ve ever camped in?

  3. My mental health is in the gutter and it's been like that for a while. Over the last year my anxiety has been at an all time high and my depression at an all time low. Getting up and taking care of myself was a challenge, let alone training and going to school. There were months where I was only able to get myself to the gym once a week. I lacked motivation and a clear goal that I actually believed I could achieve. I started taking antidepressants, forgot a few doses, had a seizure and learned that skipping medication increases the likelihood of having a seizure. I was slowly taken off that medication and put on anti-seizure medication as well. Of course, I eventually also forgot a few doses of my anti-seizure medication and if you couldn't guess, I had another seizure. Turns out when you skip seizure medication it makes it even more likely for you to have a seizure than if you weren't taking it at all. There is no happy ending here. My mental health is only mildly better than it was before. I can't tell if my anxiety meds are helping or making it worse. Theres probably a little bit of brain damage from the seizures, at least that's my reasoning for the fact that slurring words has now become a normal speech pattern of mine. And my neurologist thinks I have a juvenile seizure disorder that appears in the form of short full body muscle jerks. So to all those who've seen me just violently twitch for a sec, sorry for scaring you with that but now I kinda have an answer for why I do that. Moral of the story, DONT FORGET TO TAKE YOUR MEDS. Welcoming suggestions for decorating my pillbox to make it more fun and coquette or suggestions for not forgetting my meds cause why can't I remember. And don't tell me "oh just set an alarm," IT DOESN'T WORK. Idk how y'all do it but I will turn off the notification and literally forget what I'm doing on my way to get the medication (or turn off the notification and go back to sleep 😓). Also, gurl, your anxiety ain't worth a $3000 uber just tell the EMT someone else can take you to the hospital. 🙄 You're not alone 🤍 📸: (1) @gajdaphotography (2) @lenssoul

  3. Little Miss! I kept wanting to write about this climb, but it’s just so personal, I didn’t know where to start. My biggest accomplishment this year wasn’t this, it was getting a handle on my health. I learned how to manage a chronic health condition I wasn’t aware I had (explains so much!) and as a result I’ve probably felt more vibrancy in my life this past year than I have in the last twenty. I can keep muscle on now, I sleep well, I have energy again and can more readily accept my body at the times I don’t. My mind isn’t so foggy and slow anymore, I can focus, and I can better manage stress and fear. This route, Little Miss, shut me down over a year ago when I was feeling unwell and didn’t yet have any answers (not to mention I was undernourished at the time). Marco, Artur and I worked this line together — we refined beta, compared gear placements, and cheered each other on. They both got it nearly right away, and I felt like a little sister just trying to keep up. I had all the pieces, and just couldn’t put them together. Fast forward eight months (five with basically zero climbing or training) and it finally happened for me. Yeah, I’m proud of this one because of the grade (my first trad 5.11) and because I’m the first woman to have sent it, but I’m most proud because it was proof that all of the effort I put toward managing my health, conscious action that I’ll have to keep up for the rest of my life, makes a difference. I don’t do new year’s resolutions, but for 2021, I told myself that no matter what, I would not make choices, in climbing and life, that made me feel like I was fighting against my body. I kept that promise, and it totally changed the way I approach my climbing, and while I did collect a handful of little green check marks for my season, the biggest send of the year was having a truly enjoyable, mentally engaging season outdoors. 🧗‍♀️ Little Miss, 5.11a T, Echo crag 📍 Atikameksheng Anishnawbek land 📸 Amber Lenoir, @amberlenoir (P.S. If you are an Instagram helmet police coming for me, please name at least five men you’ve told to wear a helmet this past year and then I heartily welcome your unsolicited advice in the comments.)
