  3. "I'm Dean - known as @patchproblems on Instagram, and today I'm sharing my story with Changing Faces. "When I first noticed my hair falling out, I felt like I was losing a part of my identity. My confidence and self-esteem seemed to vanish along with my hair.   "I've had alopecia areata since I was ten - with small bald spots appearing and disappearing throughout my life.   "Four years ago, I lost every single hair on my body. It was very traumatic. It seemed like nobody around me understood the emotional turmoil I was going through. I constantly found myself battling the misconception that 'it's just hair.'   "I became anxious and depressed, withdrawing from social interactions because I felt like an outsider. I was convinced that people were talking about me behind my back, and this self-imposed isolation only worsened my mental state. "Part of what held me back from seeking help or sharing my struggles was the toxic notion engrained in society: that 'I am a man – I can’t talk about mental health, I can’t be bothered by something as trivial as losing my hair.' These expectations weighed heavily on my shoulders. "Luckily, I discovered a lifeline. A social media group run by @alopeciauk. In this group, I encountered some of the most inspirational individuals I've ever come across. Reading their stories helped me realise that I wasn't alone. "As my confidence grew, I decided to create a social media page about my journey. The response and support I received was incredible. It was this online community that gave me a sense of belonging. I finally felt heard and understood. My mental health began to improve significantly.   “While I’ve come a long way in my journey with alopecia and mental health, it’s not always smooth sailing. There are days where I still struggle, moments where I question myself and times when the battles feel uphill. "It’s ok to not be ok. But it’s crucial to get the proper support you need. Together, we can break down the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and alopecia." Link in bio to continue Dean's story.   #Alopecia #AlopeciaAreata #AlopeciaAwarenessMonth

  2. This photo means more to me than words can ever say. I often reflect on the day that I met Sam and how we almost never met. There was a series of decisions that led us to that meeting. Before meeting, I'd always obsess over meeting the "one" and I'd throw myself into spontaneous and often toxic situations in order to find the person that I believed I was supposed to be with. You can be a person who believes everything is fated or be someone who believes that it is all just random and that just sometimes incredible things happen amongst all the bad. I'm a little bit of both. So many people will say they are looking for someone who loves them, adores them and will give up the world for them, but when they find it, they throw it away. Relationships take work, romantic or not, I don't expect anything to come easy and I will never be the person who will just say "If I wish something positive, the universe will give it to me". Whilst I am a huge believer in a positive attitude attracts positive things, I am also not naive to believe simply being positive and doing sweet nothing will grant me what I desire. One day I will share with you the dramatic story of how me and Sam got together and the hoops we went through to get where we are now, but that isn't today. We made this account to share our journey and achievements, not to brag or patronise, but to offer people hope that things can change once you make the decision for them too. Will it always be easy? NO WAY. But will it be worth it? 100 million times over. Thank you to all who made my birthday so special this year, it has genuinely been the best I've ever had. Feel so blessed to have such incredible, wonderful people that surround me. You mean more to me than you'll ever know. ❤️❤️❤️ #loveyourself #motivation #inspiration #ig_great_pics #iger #instafit #gaysnap #gayguy #happy #instagood #positivity #positivethinking #positivevibes #love #gayuk #gaycouple #mondaymotivation #mondayvibes #mondaymood #believeinyourself #blessed #grateful #newcastleupontyne #newcastlegateshead #uk #instagram #instagramers #instapic #healthylifestyle
