  1. As a catsitter, I definitely have some crazy stories that lead to further reasons of how important it is to always having a catsitter check in on your cats at a MINIMUM of once a day. This particular day I experienced a scary situation that could have easily turned into a fire! I walked into a clients house and heard a strange noise and found a hairdryer plugged in and somehow TURNED ON in a freak accident in the house! The apartment was sweltering hot with the hairdryer blasting heat into a blanket and these two babies were all by themselves all night! This is a serious reminder to always unplug your hairdryer after use. It only takes a moment for things to go horribly wrong.   2. Comet is very attached to his human dad and to his brother Asher and when his routine gets interrupted, he has big feelings about it. As a catsitter I will never ever be enough (or never give them enough time) to make up for him missing his dad (or Nelly missing her humans, Tuck missing his mom, etc) but what I am is a very soft place to voice frustrations and let them know that they will be heard and loved. And when a cat is trying to tell *you* something, I beg of you to truly give them all your attention, get on their level, and listen. Let them work out whatever’s going on and they will tell when they are done telling you what’s going on as well. Just because we can’t speak to each other in the same vocal language doesn’t mean you give up. But the strangest thing is, whenever I call her when it’s time to go, There is always something in the way, whether it be a gate, or the last dream that I had was a van door. I call her to come with me and she always looks at me, looks back, then wags her tail at me and stays put where she is. It is as if she’s come to see me but she can’t come home. It leaves a feeling of contentment when I say goodbye in my sleep because she seems so happy just like she was on this earth. This is why a large enclosures + a proper sized wheel is super important because of their urge to move.   3. Less than an hour before 13-year-old Abby passed, I met up with her and her mom, Katie to memorialize their great love. We had just about 15 mins to capture these memories before Dr. Jason of @lapofloveveterinaryhospice arrived- this was the quickest shoot I had ever done. Due to her condition and decline, things happened very last minute and fast. I was worried about the quality of photos I’d be able to get in that short of a period of time. The intention behind sharing the short duration of the session goes to show how pure their love is. And how effortless is way to capture SO much in such a small time. But let me tell you: even 30 seconds with these two and magic could have been captured. Within those 15 short minutes time it felt (to me) as if truly stood still while watching them. The only two beings in the world in that time were Abby and Katie. They soaked up each others love, snuggled on the side walk, and sat amongst the tulips in their yard while the set sun cast a golden light upon them. With the greatest love, comes the greatest grief. A culmination of years of friendship captured in a handful of vulnerable, raw moments. I leave you with a few words Abby’s mom shared about her: “She turned 13 the day before passing. Her favorite activities included the beach, following her nose wherever it took her, digging in the garden, treats, and belly rubs. She was kind-hearted and gentle, forgiving and just an all-around happy girl. She came to me when I was 19, and she 1.5, and stayed by my side through every up and down since. She has been my best friend and companion for the last 12 years. She fought bravely and courageously throughout a difficult battle with lar-par/golpp, in addition to renal and arthritis. But even on her last of days, she spent it running on the beach.   1. I made a mistake I hope to never make again 🥺 I had been painting in the morning before getting started on commissions. I made sure when I was finished, to pack everything away, clean my brushes & wipe down my desk. What I didn’t fully clean was the back of my hand, which printed a tiny bit of paint onto the white paper of my customer’s drawing. 🥲 There was no fixing it & unfortunately this meant that after about 10 hours of work, I’d have to start this piece again. Luckily my customer was SO LOVELY & very understanding. I made it my mission to make the second attempt even better than the first- & I think I did that. 🥰 It was such a small, silly mistake but I have definitely learned my lesson on this one! This is a video of mum fixing me up a bath after I called her in December having a breakdown (testing the water with her elbow like I’m a newborn too 😂) She drove from Ballarat to Melbourne to pick me up and take me to her house to care for me. See, we are both strong women for the most part, but no one can be strong all the time. Sometimes, even at 32 years old, I need my mum to catch me. And I know my mum, in her 50s, has had her mum still do that for her too. One of the luckiest gifts I’ve received in this life is coming from a line of incredible, generous mums. I know that’s a very privileged position to be in - others not having a mum, or their mum having passed on, or their mum living miles away, or having a broken relationship with their mum. (Sending love to those in that position today.) I never take for granted that my mum, and my grandmother, are only a phone call away and have smothered me in love from the moment I took my first breath. Happy Mother’s Day to my Mum and Gran. 💖

  2. Wow! Took the kids to the Docklands drone show tonight and it was beautiful. Only goes for ten minutes but it was worth the after dinner trip. I think they have sessions showing 9:30pm & 10:30pm most of the school holidays. I hope this stays a permanent fixture to Melbourne and just expands. Very cool 💖

  3. My bby grl made the Aus Team 💛💚 In less than a week our family flies out to Italy as Cheska makes her journey representing Australia at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships! Couldn’t be more proud of her, her trio of Daisy and Leah, and her fellow teammates at @teamadrenalin who will be taking to the biggest stage!! When her trio won and got the qualifying score at Nationals, our family group chat went off 😂 Talk about the most supportive siblings ever, all of a sudden assuming (correctly) that she was their golden ticket to a Euro family trip lol. There’s definitely some difference in her wiring to be so focused, fearless and determined. Her physical strength to climb out of her cot and into her sister’s at under a year old also makes a lot of sense now haha 😂 I say it all the time, but she works so damn hard and has passion like I’ve never known it. We know sport is sport and not everything has or will come easy. But to see her get to this level, be so happy and well-rounded (well mostly, I wish she’d sleep more haha), and have this opportunity is already a massive win (for her and as a parent!) Also truly humbled that her CV is already better than mine at the ripe old age of 13 lol. Congrats on this incredible achievement, Ches. Love you girlfriend💛💚
