  1. Roo has visited me twice in two years since she passed away. It’s always so lovely to see her and I can smell her and I can feel her fur as how she was here on earth. But the strangest thing is, whenever I call her when it’s time to go, There is always something in the way, whether it be a gate, or the last dream that I had was a van door. I call her to come with me and she always looks at me, looks back, then wags her tail at me and stays put where she is. It is as if she’s come to see me but she can’t come home. It leaves a feeling of contentment when I say goodbye in my sleep because she seems so happy just like she was on this earth.   3. A short life doesn’t mean a less important one. Hamsters are complex and intelligent animals, they experience stress, fear, excitement and comfort just like any other pet. They know the difference between a small cage and a spacious one full of enrichment. They are certainly aware of their existence. A hamsters lifespan shouldn’t be an excuse to provide them with less- if anything it should be a reason to give them more. They often only get 2 years on this earth and rely solely on us to make that time comfortable and enjoyable.   1. After a lot of contemplation, I finally decided to post this video cause Snotty deserves a special place in my feed. We lost our dearest boy Snotty on August 3rd, 2024. He lived a good healthy life, never once got sick in his 12 years of his life on earth. He loved to play with kittens, his favourite meal was rice with chicken liver, he loved to go fetch newspapers with my dad, he loved to sleep in carton boxes, he would get zoomies once in a blue moon , he hated taking baths, he was the goodest boy! Snotty has seen me grow up from being a teenager to being an adult. He was there through every phase of my life. He was diagnosed with terminal kidney failure. As much as we wanted him to stay with us forever, we knew that he was suffering and it was time to let him go. He took his last breath on 5:12PM, August 3rd, 2024 at Dr Liben’s clinic. Loving a pet is so rewarding yet so painful at the same time. Snotty’s paw prints have been imprinted in our lives forever. Snotty… please say hi to Lucky, Fuzzy, Bobby, Princess, Spotty, Miko, Laaza & Changa when you meet them in heaven. Tell them that we miss them so much.

  3. Less than an hour before 13-year-old Abby passed, I met up with her and her mom, Katie to memorialize their great love. We had just about 15 mins to capture these memories before Dr. Jason of @lapofloveveterinaryhospice arrived- this was the quickest shoot I had ever done. Due to her condition and decline, things happened very last minute and fast. I was worried about the quality of photos I’d be able to get in that short of a period of time. The intention behind sharing the short duration of the session goes to show how pure their love is. And how effortless is way to capture SO much in such a small time. But let me tell you: even 30 seconds with these two and magic could have been captured. Within those 15 short minutes time it felt (to me) as if truly stood still while watching them. The only two beings in the world in that time were Abby and Katie. They soaked up each others love, snuggled on the side walk, and sat amongst the tulips in their yard while the set sun cast a golden light upon them. With the greatest love, comes the greatest grief. A culmination of years of friendship captured in a handful of vulnerable, raw moments. I leave you with a few words Abby’s mom shared about her: “She turned 13 the day before passing. Her favorite activities included the beach, following her nose wherever it took her, digging in the garden, treats, and belly rubs. She was kind-hearted and gentle, forgiving and just an all-around happy girl. She came to me when I was 19, and she 1.5, and stayed by my side through every up and down since. She has been my best friend and companion for the last 12 years. She fought bravely and courageously throughout a difficult battle with lar-par/golpp, in addition to renal and arthritis. But even on her last of days, she spent it running on the beach. Her body may have been failing her, but her spirits never did. “ Thank you for sharing this time with me, Abby and Katie. 🧡 #endoflifepetphotography #thetillyproject

That’s right 👌🏼⁣ ⁣ Between the dog fight/bite wounds, infectious diseases and parasites, and extremely poor social interactions, dog parks may keep us ER vets in business, but we literally don’t want that. ⁣ ⁣ The most common question I get when I tell people to stay away from dog parks is “but then how will they socialize?!” Surprisingly enough, your pup does not NEED to socialize with random poorly behaved dogs without proper structure and boundaries. If you want play dates for your dog, meet up with a friend that you know has a fully vaccinated, well behaved dog and let them play together. ⁣ ⁣ The second most common question is “but how will I get their energy out?!” Mental stimulation and structured walks are MUCH better methods of tiring your pup out than letting them join the dog park greaser gang.   3. It’s a good day, to have a good day. ⁣ ⁣ This weekend was ruff with two FF’s. I won’t lie. Countless devastating cases, so many lost family members, and lots of tears shed. But each day we wake up knowing that we are the human potentially standing between life and death, or care vs suffering for some of the sweetest souls on earth. So not matter how difficult it gets, remember that the world, and the animals in it, need you. ⁣ ⁣ Going into the next weekend with a positive mindset and so much love for another new team I can’t wait to meet!   1. After Billy lost her son Blacky last summer, I was afraid she might be sad and deteriorate. As her heart and kidney diseases progressed, I became more and more scared of losing her. I knew I wanted another small dog in the future, and I wanted this dog to have known her, to have been taught by her, to somehow be connected to her. When I saw Nugget’s picture, he reminded me so much of Blacky & Obi (Billy’s dad). When I came home with him, they immediately hit it off. Billy took him under her wing and she treats him like he’s her puppy that needs looking after. These past days have been really hard on her. Nugget being this sick, and now blind, clearly upsets her. She follows me around when I carry him, she only wants to eat when he is eating next to her, she looks for him when he is at the hospital… I thought Billy was the one I needed to be worried about, but now I’m terrified of losing both Nugget and her. He needs to get better. He needs to make it, because he deserves a happy, long life - and for her.   2. Did you know that there are over 600 million stray animals in the world? 🥺 Today is #WorldStrayAnimalsDay. The saddest part about this is that most of those animals are not just strays, but are being mistreated by people. Some were born a a stray, but a lot of them have been abandoned. It makes me really sad to think that anyone would harm an innocent animal, and I will never be able to understand how you could abandon such a loyal creature that would do anything for you. Luckily there are also good people in this world that dedicate their life to rescuing these poor souls and providing them with a better life. If you can’t adopt or foster, consider donating to one of these amazing rescue organisations. Every small amount helps.
